In the Meantime Vs Under the Skin

Which do you prefer?

DavidMn 10-15-2006 03:21 PM

Interesting topic. I''ll cast the first vote for UTS.

iamstevienicks 10-15-2006 03:21 PM

Awww thanks, lol

ITM for me

DavidMn 10-15-2006 03:24 PM

I'm not a big fan of Christine's solo work. Dont hate it, just doesnt grab me really. Friend is very good though.

iamstevienicks 10-15-2006 03:26 PM

You Are was by far my favourite on ITM followed by Norther Star, Easy come easy go and Calumney

No problem We all have different tastes.:)

joshywashy377 10-15-2006 03:30 PM

Chris seems imo to get better as time goes by. for instance i love her tango era stuff/voice over early 70's and the new stuff is awesome as well, but Linds is my hero and there isnt one song on UTS i dont like, so had to go with it!

aleuzzi 10-15-2006 03:59 PM

In the meantime, by a long shot....

dontlookdown 10-15-2006 04:34 PM

i don't understand the point?

that's like comparing NY and LA.

they're totally different and have nothing to do with each other..

i thought Chris's album was really mediocre.

i think Lindsey's album is brilliant.

shackin'up 10-15-2006 04:45 PM

There's nothing to compare here. The question is simple. Which one do like more? You can say that for NY and LA so this must be no prob for you or anybody.

London or LA would have been a better metaphor in this case by the way.

PS: But I totally agree on your opinion of these albums ;)

Purty much hit the nail on the head.

GypsySorcerer 10-15-2006 10:29 PM

I love Chris, but this is a no brainer. UTS all the way.

Gailh 10-16-2006 03:22 AM

I voted ITM because I'm not a big fan of Lindsey's solo work.

Gail

jbrownsjr 10-16-2006 04:33 AM

I think UTS is really boring and bland. I'm trying to like it but can't. I think LB has lost his mind honestly. The country overtures make me nuts.

I think ITM grooves a lot better. "But others may disagree"... CM

macfan 57 10-16-2006 05:32 AM

In The Meantime, of course. It's a no brainer. I didn't buy(and have no intention of buying Under The Skin). I've only heard the songs on his website. The vocals on the new songs are horrible. I've always thought "Down On Rodeo" is beautiful though.

I agree about the vocals on Under the Skin.

I've heard excerpts of the songs on iTunes and I know that the vocals would drive me mad over a whole album.

I'll have another listen though and maybe buy one or two.

i feel the same way, i love lindsey's new cd!!!:) ~

Nico 10-16-2006 08:57 AM

Lindsey all the way. I don't care for ITM, though I do love Christine. UTS, however, is a masterpiece. It's gorgeous, totally in love with it.

chiliD 10-16-2006 11:33 AM

Well, there's an obvious choice that is conspicuous by its absence:

"I like them BOTH; and, don't prefer one over the other".

That would be what I'd vote, IF it was an option. With the choices as is, I abstain from voting because none of the three responses covers my feelings about it.

DavidMn 10-16-2006 01:39 PM

Some very interesting responses so far. It's kinda like White Castle, either you love it or you hate it!

Aisling 10-16-2006 01:54 PM

i voted for ITM. there are elements of UTS that i like very much, but as a whole, i would only listen to this album if i were in a certain mood. for me ITM is an any time, any where kind of thing. even though i haven't listened to UTS nearly as much as ITM, in the long run, i still think ITM be a more frequently play on my ipod. ;)

TheWILDheart 10-16-2006 01:59 PM

HAHA - I voted "Rubbish. Where is the new Stevie CD?". Christine's solo efforts are always so same-ey they just sound like the rest of her fleetwood mac stuff. Althought I would've loved to have seen some ITM songs on SYW. Lindsey, although different to mac, is off his bloody head. Law and Order was just WTF?, Go Insane was more commercial but overall pretty crap. OOTC was better but still, I didn't like it. I am not a fan of Lindsey solo. The new album, better songs but his voice is ****ed. STEVIE ALL THE WAY!

jbrownsjr 10-17-2006 01:29 AM

i voted ITM vs UTS because i like the initials better...

henryscutter 10-17-2006 01:32 AM

I voted for the new Stevie CD, not because I think the others are rubbish ( I havent really listened to ITM = I should buy it though if it is still available ) I just really want new Stevie music. I am planning on getting UTS next time I go to Barnes and Noble. I've heard most of it online and even though the vocals take some getting used to I think it is my favorite Lindsey solo besides GOS

Funny, that's exactly what I thought of ITM...

until I stopped trying and accepted the fact that it's mediocre at best and that repeated listenings aren't going to improve it. ;)

Peestie 10-17-2006 09:23 AM

I still haven't got ITM so I can't vote, but I find it highly unlikely that I would like it more. I always like Lindsey's songs the most on all the Mac albums and his solo albums are great IMO. UTS is joint favourite with OOTC. Law and Order didn't grab me at first, but that was because I bought it with loads of other albums and didn't listen to it on its own, only a song here and there.

So no vote from me.

exactly at some point you just say, "this does nothing for me" and that's that.... sort of like my last relationship...

Villavic 10-17-2006 12:44 PM

Well i vote for the third, though actually is not my point. I'm a mac fan, not a solo fan, though Stevie is a very good option.

However I never listen a whole solo album, except for Out of the Craddle, it's the best solo album i have listened. I didn't like L&O, Go Insane, Street Angel or Trouble in SL, I mean as whole albums, as I do adore mac albums.

However I wouldn't use the word rubbish, I just say I want new mac albums.. with Christine

nichora 10-17-2006 01:04 PM

Voted for UTS.

In the Meantime is OK, a couple of nice songs but nothing really imaginative.

UTS is an incredible album - love and can't get enough of UTS, CAD, Not Too Late, Down On Rodeo and SUD. And that's after playing it about 30 times!!

I can understand why some don't like the vocals (reverb whiney), but it does work like Lindsey singing in your head. Some songs have vocals coming in slightly from the right, others from the left, as if he's dealing with different subjects in his mind. There is some real creativity going on in this album that doesn't really compare to anything else.

Law and Order is a very quirky album. I bought it ages ago, hated it and sold it. Anyway, I bought it a couple of years later and its great! You can't take it too seriously. Its like a circus performance, loads of experiments slapped into an album. Favs are Trouble, Johnny Stew and I'll tell you now..

Stevie's and Christine's solo work is ok, some good songs but for me sounds a bit bland without edgy Buck production.

Law and Order will always be my favorite LB album. It's quirky as hell, but that's why I like it.:)

I agree entirely. What a fun, refreshing record. I'd add "Shadows of the West" and "Bwana" to the list of great songs--or at least ones I listen to aain and again.

But In the Meantme is excellent through and through. Amng all the solo mac albums it's tied with me for the top spot, next to Out of the Cradle.

johndoe 10-17-2006 06:15 PM

That last choice made me puke in my mouth a bit. UTS by default, since I haven't heard ITM.
