Dude. Boston.

Wow. That Boston show was amazing. ANND get this: He took requests for a second encore and did Save Me a Place (W/Band) and Down on Rodeo (Minus backing band) totally unrehearsed. Crazy stuff. Awesome show.

golden braid 10-13-2006 10:01 PM

Wow! By the time he gets to San Francisco I hope he'll be doing a whole bunch of extra songs. Keep requesting new songs everyone!

wondergirl9847 10-13-2006 10:06 PM

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

That's awesome!! I am going to yell out Souldrifter I think.

MacMan 10-13-2006 10:32 PM

Really... Great! Save Me A Place deserves to be there... Great addition to the set. How did DOR sound all by himself?...

Actually, really good. It sounded weird without the background vocals during the chorus, but it wasn't nessicarly bad weird. Just different. I'm not sure which one I like more. Hmm. I hope a boot surfaces.

desertangel 10-14-2006 04:06 AM

Well holy freakin cow, that means he played all 3 songs I wanted to hear on this tour? Man, I shoulda been in Boston!

Under the Skin
Down on Rodeo
Show You How... sigh.

Hopefully he plays them in Portland.

Peestie 10-14-2006 05:13 AM

I'm glad he's doing things like taking requests. Makes the tour much more interesting. I honestly didn't think it was something he had in him until this tour started. Very cool that he is doing it.

shackin'up 10-14-2006 06:50 AM

He's the dude indeed. I'm thrilled that he loosens up. Maybe not in the autographcrowdpleasing, but in the fact he just serves what we want in a small part of the show. Music. that's what it's all about.

goldie 10-14-2006 06:53 AM

oh WOW! I'll take these unrehearsed encores over an autograph anyday!

Enchantd58 10-14-2006 08:15 AM

Those impromptu adds is what makes a live show so cool - kind of like a Springsteen show, where you never know what's going to be included from night to night, and I've been to shows where he adds a song someone screams out and it's so raw & excellent because it's in the moment, if that makes any sense.

Sounds like a great show - anyone make a recording????

Me too. I wish someone would request Lola next!
I hate to say it but other than the "Frozen Love" bit on Sound Stage, when was the last time Stevie took a request? I hope some of LB's spontaneity carries over to some FM shows in 2008 and rubs off on her!

justcrazylove 10-14-2006 10:24 AM

The show was not a scrap on the NY show but when he played DOR i was going off, hardly anyone near me even Knew the song, it was way better than on the soundstage DVD and it should be a set staple.

The Boston crowd are werid, first they come half an hour late, then there was some nutcase it a hockey mask dancing during IKINW, then half leave after holiday road..., im non bias here, im australian and have no prefrence to any City. but boy the boston people are a few bagels short of a bakery>>>>

I really hope there was a taper in Boston; I want to hear DOR. There was a taper in the crowd in NY, I got a PM on Dime about it...I just hope it is uploaded.

This is disturbing :distress: Was the venue sold out or mostly full?

yeah ill pay that lol:lol:

They are still the strangest Americans i have met....
tonight show hopefully will be better, last night he also made a few mistakes, stuffed up the lyrics to It was you, and red rover. made a few guitar errors on big love and go insane, NY was flawless this was diffrent, but i have so much praise for DOR that was just the highlight.

AliceLover 10-14-2006 02:30 PM

The show was so awesome. Some guy gave my mom two front row seats because TM messed up his order. We were right in dead center. And....YES that is ME playing Lindseys guitar in patties photo. I yelled Down on Rodeo all night. They bowed and everything, I really thought it was the end, but he comes back and said "Did I hear someone say Rodeo? You know this song is about window shopping...LOL"

Oh man what a night!

DavidMn 10-14-2006 02:39 PM

Wow! what spontinaity!

Regina 10-14-2006 02:53 PM

No offense to Boston...
but, yeah, there were some weird folks out there. Really, really weird.

The guy who kept yelling for Eric Clapton until Lindsey laughed and said something like "poor guy is at the wrong concert," the non-standing until Tusk was 3/4 of the way over, it seemed.

I was really kind of upset over it. I want the man to get the recognition he deserves and I think, in the end, he does get it...he just has to work like mad before it shows.

Youve got to be kidding me. Some guy last night thought he was at Clapton?

No, he was just trying to be funny or jackassy. I don't know exactly what he said...but something about Eric Clapton is the greatest or something...I don't quite remember. But it's hardly something you shout out in the middle of a Lindsey concert. I thought maybe Lindsey hadn't heard it...he waited a couple of seconds then said (something like...I'm not quoting directly)"Did someone say something about Clapton? I thought I heard something about Clapton. Poor guy must be at the wrong concert." The audience laughed and Mr. Big Mouth never said another word, as far as I know.

Somebody who though he was gonna be cool. Guess that backfired on him!

Regina 10-14-2006 03:07 PM

Well, you know, I remember WAY back when we were waiting for Lindsey to do something...and I know it was a really long wait but he's out there and delivering BIG time.
I'm just so proud to see him do his thing up there and, really, some of what he does is so beautiful, it's almost unbelievable.
I keep thinking...well, this is probably a once in a lifetime thing so appreciate every second of it and try to send him as many good vibes as you can while you are in audience.
I guess that's all we can do.

I know. I can hardly wait for the 3 shows I'm going to next week!:blob2: :blob1:

johndoe 10-14-2006 04:10 PM

The Clapton guy was saying "You're better than Clapton," just to clear that up.

The crowd was weird. During his first song the orchestra section was less than half full, but it filled up by Second Hand News. Boston crowds are usually great, but I dunno. Something was awry. Very subdued, but I've never been to the Orhpeum and seen a wild crowd. Its too...old.

Really? Wow. That's sad. The guy tried to pay a compliment and it sounded like he was being a heckler.

Yikes.

johndoe 10-14-2006 10:01 PM

Ya, I thought he was heckling, too, until he said it REALLY loud after the thing Lindsey said. But Lindsey smiled,so I think he heard.

BlueGrass 10-15-2006 10:49 AM

The guy shouted, "Clapton Who?" after I'm So Afraid. Awesome show btw, Lindsey sounded great.

stevierocks87 10-15-2006 10:49 AM

Me and my friend Andrea hung around after the Atlanta show hoping he would come back out...instead they just told us to leave

So basically the Fleetwood Mac shows get all the goodies the first night before songs are DROPPED, but the Liddy Buck shows get special requests played at the end of every show EXCEPT the first one.

Oh well, it was a great show anyway. I never thought I'd be that close to him.....

Glad everyone is having fun at the concert, and sorry about the weirdos!

(Does anyone remember that one guy at the Atlanta show in the front that kept on turning out facing the audience and doing some crazy-ass drugged-out dancing...?)

:wavey: Adam :wavey:

Bostonians are accustomed to an opening act and it's a b*tch to get into Boston at rush hour for a show. That said, I won't argue against the fact that Bostonians are weirdos.

He was not yelling for Eric Clapton. He was making a point that Lindsey is a guitar god himself by saying, "Eric Clapton who?" Unfortunately the "who" was not as audible. That guy was right behind me.

For Franz Ferdinand it was crazy. Same for Stereophonics. It's Lindsey's music that is odd and subdued which is reflected in the crowd. Maybe? A bit. I wish he would pick up the tempo on some of his songs. That said, I think Lindsey is the mad scientist of guitar! He is a master for sure.

SuzeQuze 10-15-2006 11:43 AM

Some memorable highlights:
  • I got my ticket at the box office at 4:45 when Lindsey started his soundcheck! Oh that was cool. There is nothing that can make me more excited than Lindsey, Stevie or FM.
  • As I was getting my ticket Brett Tuggle was right outside smoking but I didn't know he was on this tour so I didn't say anything. So stupid [hits own forehead]. He did give me a smile and a nod though cuz I was wearing my crescent moon. No biggie.
  • Taku is an awesome percussionist. He was playing some board. I've never seen anyone do that. He had a wooden board in front of him, placed vertically and angled toward him. It looked like he was literally playing a giant cutting board. He is so into what he does and it is so hot!
  • Lindsey is a mad scientist on guitar as mentioned previously. He has the ms hair. I am awed by how many different styles of playing he has.
  • The sound at the Orpheum was top notch. I'm sure Lindsey's sound guy had a lot to do with that.
  • We hung out at The Ritz bar after but it is set off to the side and we honestly weren't paying that much attention so we really didn't see anyone.

:wavey: We did have some fun, didn't we? :p

I loved Boston but the venue was so strange. My knees were smashed against the stage! :o It would be beautiful if they would remodel it.

Lindsey's fingers were bleeding after Go Insane.....he was a wild man! I agree he is a mad scientist and that the sound was awesome at the Orpheum.

Taku has always been a favorite of mine. I could watch him play for hours...he is really amazing.

Highlight songs for me were Under the Skin, Castaway Dreams and Down on Rodeo. :D

Is that normal? How do his fingers heal for the next show? Wouldn't they get worse? I'm worried.

I don't know if its normal or not. I have never noticed them bleeding before. When he came over to play in front of us during Go Insane, his fingers were messed up! He wiped the sweat off his face and smeared blood all over his forehead. It was quite a sight.
The next night, in CT, he played with a pick for quite a few songs. Even on stuff like Second Hand News. He has been playing things like UTS with a pick the whole tour but I think he used it for alot more songs at the CT show. I counted about eight songs before I stopped paying attention. I noticed Second Hand News because I know he did not use a pick on the SYW tour for that one. He seemed fine at the CT show and played with just as much passion and intensity..he just used the pick more.

this is why I have mad respect (or one of the reasons) for players like Lindsey. my brother plays the guitar very, very well and I remember the pain he endured. like taking time to build up calluses (sp?), etc. -
