Snow has arrived

Well, we had our first taste of snow today as my area got a light dusting. It's always nice to see. I cant imagine life without the 4 seasons. I know, call me weird, but that's the Minnesotan in me.

skcin 10-12-2006 01:58 PM

Yeah it's here too. I don't mind snow at all, I like wnter. BUT. I love fall, so I'm very pissed that it's snowing right now & ruining the pretty leaves sunny sky crisp air autumn that I love.

JazmenFlowers 10-12-2006 01:59 PM

DrummerDeanna 10-12-2006 02:12 PM

I LOVE the Fall and if this fall is any indication it's amazing up here. The air is just so fallish - and it's awesome.

We were supposed to get snow early in the week - it never happened - I don't mind though _ I want to enjoy the fall...I've all winter to hope for and enjoy the snow.

It's already snowing in Buffalo!?! Geez...glad I left the area when I did - last winter was SO mild...does that mean this winter's goign to be hell?

SuzeQuze 10-12-2006 02:14 PM

It's hot and humid in Boston!

Youre too much. A little story for you: a few years back during a snowstorm I decided to drive down to one of our local lakes that are right outside of downtown and I had my cd walkman with me and listened to Diamonds And Rust by Joan Baez as I walked around the lake. Really magical I'll tell you.

We get that kind of snow here too. But only when it is warm out, oddly. When it is really cold, that is when you get the dry fluffy stuff. But that's no good for snowmen! Dude, I have a yard now, I could make one!

Nooooooooooooo! It's far too early for snow. I want a snow free birthday, which is three weeks from tomorrow. Plan accordingly. :D

Yeah, kind of bizarre even for us. First snow is usually late Oct early Nov & it doesn't stick. First heavy snow's usually close to Thanksgiving.

There is currently 1 or 2 inches of snow accumulated on the ground. They were calling for a dusting tonight in higher elevations only. Jerkasses. Nobody was ready for this - I wore my jean jacket in to work this morning. No snow brush in the car yet, and I'm sure the plows are still stored away. It's NOT going to be a good drive home. I wish I had my camera so you guys could see this. Seriously.

As far as predicting the rest of the winter - everyone has a theory (oh, last winter was mild so this one will suck; oh it rained a lot last month so it'sll be a nice winter.) It's all bull****. We neve know what's coming ahead of time.

DrummerDeanna 10-12-2006 03:42 PM

^^

Well I STILL have my snow brush in my car  Doesn't help you any - but old habits (even short-lived ones) die hard I guess....

I was just about to post something about the weather. I'm an hour north of Pittsburgh and it started snowing today. It only lasted for about 5 minutes. But its the first time I've seen snow in atleast 3 years.
Right now its 37 Degrees. I knew it would be cold up here, but holy crap. I miss the South. Thank God its only one more week! How do you Yankees handle this???:distress:

Johnny Stew 10-12-2006 04:03 PM

I just went next door to drop something off to my neighbor and we're getting snow flurries!!! :blob1:

skcin 10-12-2006 04:03 PM

Wow. It's bad. Like, January bad. Here's a link to a live webcam:

http://www.buffalocam.com/

Make sure you scroll down to see what it looked like 4 days ago in Delaware park (75 degrees & sunny)

Agreed. Although the livin' is easy, I'm just not okay with sweating for days on end. Minnesota has horrid humidity during the hot months.

I wish I could. But after I graduate this year, I will most likely be going straight into full-time work. Between study and work I have not had a real holiday in years :(

estranged4life 10-12-2006 05:43 PM

It is...

58 degrees here, supposed to be down to 38 tonight. Back up in the high 70's this weekend.

Wished it would snow here, but the past few years have seen hardly any good deep snows.

But that's alright, I am a fall person, I HATE summer with an absolute black hearted passion & am I ever glad it is long gone (Only had 42 days this summer of over 100 degree heat-Still nowhere near being a record.)

bikerchic 10-13-2006 06:32 AM

Paula, are you alright? I hear you got some snow :wavey:

bikerchic 10-13-2006 08:36 AM

Poor Paula. I'm hoping this is her in the snow -----> :blob1:

I absolutely love the fall. I don't want snow yet. Sara's birthday is in a month, and we're having an indoor pool party. I hope theres no snow on the ground for that. We got some flurries yesterday up north of me, but nothing here. It's cold today, but will be in the high 60's this weekend. Perfect fall weather!

Well, it surely isn't at my house! It's a recreation facility in a town next to us. It's really nice with indoor water slides, a lazy river, a children's area, and a lap area. That's what she wanted to do, so we're doing it... in the middle of November. I'm taking my hair dryer!!!

I feel the same way. The fall here has been amazing - I've just loved it.

My hometown - still in the 80s. I remember being just infuriated that it just never cools down there...I love the season changes..so I'm so happy to be in a place that has them!!!

And glad I left Western New York when I did!! Snow in early October..that's ludicrous!!!
