MY NASHVILLE PHOTOS - Hotel/Front Row/Limo (35MM)

And for my second post... I attended the Nashville Saturday night. My second show in two nights (was at the Atlanta show Friday night). This time, with front row seats and my camera!

I really enjoyed both nights. Comparing: the energy of the crowd was better in Atlanta, because as general admission, there was a big crowd standing at the stage, packed close together (vs. most of the people in Nashville sitting down the entire night and relatively quiet). But the audio sound quality in Nashville was extraordinary - very impressive. At times I felt like I was listening on a Bose home sound system.

On Saturday, not only did I get to see Lindsey at my hotel lobby, I got to play his guitar during GYOW! Right after I got to play, I was so excited, I was jumping up and down like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh! (My wife is now calling me Tigger, LOL.) During Fleetwood Mac's SYW tour I got to play his guitar then too - I always thought that would be a treasured once in a lifetime experience, and I am so thrilled to have had the chance again! Plus, Saturday night I got Lindsey's autograph on the cover of his new CD. I feel really lucky to have had such a great experience.

My photos are on flickr, and am posting them here, enjoy!

As always, love to hear feedback on photos!

Some of them were dreamers,

Lindsey Buckingham and his wife Kristen, Saturday afternoon in our hotel lobby. I was waiting in my hotel lobby for my room to be prepared, and was surprised to see Lindsey and his wife walk by!

Lots of luggage. The Buckingham's luggage being brought in to the hotel. I thought it was cool that Lindsey brings a guitar to his hotel room.

Lots of luggage

They don't pack light. But I am sure this is less luggage than Stevie brings! :)

Not entirely sure why, but both nights Lindsey favored the left and right side of the front row for playing his guitar during GYOW and for quick autographs at the end of the show.

Friday night I was front and center, and was shut out from guitar and autograph, similarly to those who were front and center Saturday night.

FWIW, the autographs Saturday night seemed a little more rushed.

Nice job with the photos. I love the hotel and limo ones too. Lindsey doesn't look too happy in the limo shot.

She is very thin. I can't even believe that she has had all of those babies. If that is the secret to being thin then I better get cracking.

LINDSEY#1FAN 10-09-2006 08:23 AM

Nice pics !!!!!!!

Lindsey looks like he needs to eat more, a bit thin !!!!!!!!!!

SweetGirl24 10-09-2006 08:40 AM

Those are awesome pictures! What hotel were you staying at? I think I saw you in the front row with your camera. I took some...they told me to put it away, but I just got it out again. Haha.

I will put them up I guess....but they arent nearly as good as this!

Carolina Girl 10-09-2006 10:13 AM

She is very pretty...and very thin. Very.

She came down the steps ahead of Lindsey, and at first I thought it couldn't be her, because surely Linds would be by her side. But it was her. He came down the steps after her, made one wave to the fans, and got in the limo ahead of her. Then she had to walk around the back of the limo to the other side of the car and get in. I was surprised. I think he should let her get in ahead of him or at least crawl in the same door after him. There were two big security guys out there, and she was probably totally safe walking around the car, but I felt like she should have gotten a little more preferential treatment. But that might be my old-fashioned side :).

deluge 10-09-2006 10:34 AM

Carolina girl, I totally thought the same thing! I couldn't believe he got in the limo first via the closest door and she had to walk all the way around to the other side! Surely, he should have allowed her to get in the limo first, and then worst case she could scoot over and he could get in from the same side. Or if he really wanted to be a gentleman, he could have walked around to the other side instead of her. Anyway, I will admit I am being picky, and I shouldn't judge him for something so small... I just thought it was very funny that she had to walk all the way around the car!

Re: all the fan comments about them looking thin, especially her: I didn't think either Lindsey or his wife look too thin. No offense intended to anyone here, but in most of the U.S., the norm is people being overweight!!! I think Lindsey and his wife both look FIT - neither looks like they are starving like some Hollywood stars... I think they look like they have relatively low body fat and keep in good shape. And from my perspective as a guy, Kristen looks GREAT - like the quintessential California girl (sort of like someone else we know, the way she used to look years ago?).

Lindsey needs to whiten his teeth - they look dull and grey, they add years to his perceived age. Don't need anything ultra bright, but a basic whitening would work wonders!

PS to Carolina girl: I am a Carolina guy. Or used to be before I moved. I suppose once you are, you always are! :) Nice to meet you.

michelle2677 10-09-2006 11:45 AM

^^^ as far as whitening his teeth-I will do the honors!!!!! ahhahaha :D

Btw...my pictures are not NEAR this good because I was up in the balcony. LOVE the one with his tongue sticking out. hmmmm.... :D

I also like the one of him down on the stage-I have one similar but again-not as up close

very good pics!! Nice job :)

deluge...these photos rock. thanks for the glimpse into the behind-the-scenes at the hotel and stage exit.

golddustwoman77 10-09-2006 12:49 PM

Thank you so much for posting those photos! I tried to make pictures with my camera phone, and they all were terrible. You can't even tell who it is, so THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!:xoxo:

deluge 10-09-2006 01:05 PM

So I used to do some stuff with sports photography in a previous life, and this was a lot of fun getting some shots of behind the scenes and of the show and putting together a short photo album to tell the story visually.

I've learned from the school of hard knocks that my camera phone never gets any good photos! It isn't you as a photographer, it is the limitation of the camera phone combined with relatively low lighting. There are some small digital cameras these days that can get the job done for you, and their form factor is helpful for getting the camera in the venue and being a little more discreet than having a 35mm camera with a detachable lens... that is what the venues almost always say they don't want. This is the first time every that I've brought in a 35mm camera, and it helped alot to have it in terms of being able to get a series of rapid fire continuous shots.

If I had it to do over again:

1) Even though I just stayed seated in my hotel lobby chair and wasn't intrusive, I wouldn't have taken a photo of Lindsey and his wife there. I saw them and had my camera and just instinctively fired off a quick photo, like when I used to do news. But in retrospect, flash is intrusive, and being a big fan, I feel a little bad about hitting them with a flash. If I had it to do over again, I would have just waved hello.

Knowing that some folks here enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes photos like that, I feel a little better about it. And I guess to some degree, when you're a famous rock star, a flash bulb by a fan here and there comes with the territory.

2) I would have taken some photos at the show without flash. The flash has a harsher affect - shows off his wrinkles and lines, etc, makes him look older and a bit washed out. A few photos with natural lighting would have looked nice for an 8x10 for my office! I got one of Bono like that last year at U2, and it is just so cool! Regardless, I am going to frame one of my favs that I got of Lindsey and put it side by side with a framed photo of Bono, and another of Michael Jordan in my office. Three of my favorite heros!

Ha. I wish. People who look that good after three kids either a) have a lot of time to work out, or b)know a good tummy-tuck artist, and c) have very good genes.

I understand your feelings of not being intrusive but, as you mentioned, I am sure they are used to the attention of the media...and especially so during this time of touring. I think it is great you managed to get the shot...I would probably dropped the cam when my chin hit the floor...Lindsey Buckingham in the flesh afterall! :o

DavidMn 10-09-2006 03:45 PM

Great pictures. Did you get a chance to talk to him in the hotel?

mondaymornin1 10-09-2006 03:49 PM

*dies*

What hotel was that??? If it was the Renaissance, I'm freakin out!!! We looked, but never did see.....

Oh, and I had pictures too, but I'll keep 'em to myself. They stink compared to these and Pattie's pics.:D

deluge 10-09-2006 03:57 PM

DavidM, I did not talk with him at the hotel. I generally try not to bother celebs when they are at dinner or getting some rare alone time. I felt bad enough about taking the photo! I should have just said "hi", but that's life!

MondayMorning: It was not at the Renaissance, so no need to freak out! LOL

mylittledemon 10-09-2006 03:57 PM

Absolutely GREAT pics Deluge...I am envious! well done...

mylittledemon 10-09-2006 03:59 PM

That was the ONE mistake you made. You should asked for a photo with him! I'd kill myself if I'd gotten that close to Bucky and never got a photo snapped WITH him.

Ok, thanks. Btw, we won't mention to my husband that we stayed there and paid that kind of $$$ instead of staying at a Holiday Inn Express because I just knew Linds would be there...and he wasn't. ;) Ooops.

Incredible pictures, by the way! Loved them! I wish I'd been braver with my camera--I saw the "ushers" getting on people about cameras/phones, so I didn't take as many shots as I would've like to have taken.

Fair enough. I can understand your position.

DrummerDeanna 10-09-2006 05:26 PM

Great photos!! I love the one in the limo - he looks so reflective. Oh and I love the laying down on the stage one...so gret! Thanks for sharing those!!

I'm getting really excited for Denver :blob1:

ThrownDown 10-09-2006 05:40 PM

Your pictures are great!! Thanks for sharing them! You have a steady hand....don't think I'd have the presence of mind, especially the one at the hotel.

Yes, Kristin is beautiful. She looks tall, too. Any idea how tall? Wonder if she's ever done any modeling. Or if photography was her profession of choice....

irishgrl 10-09-2006 07:48 PM

in that first pic, Kristen looks taller than Lindsey. Is she? anyone?

bikerchic 10-09-2006 10:09 PM

Those are awesome pics. Thanks so much for posting them. I love photo's like that. Behind the scenes. Getting in and out of limo's, walking through lobbies. Those kind of shots are rare with Lindsey and the rest of the Mac.

Lindsey is on FREAKIN TOUR!!!!! I CAN'T FREAKEN BELIEVE IT!!!!! :blob1: :] :blob2:

Nico 10-09-2006 10:32 PM

Those pictures were awesome! I am so excited about seeing him in concert with every new photo, and yours are exceptional. I love his expressions in these pics. He is so into it. Pure passion. And the candid pics are great. Kristin is very pretty. I don´t think either are dangerously thin at all. They look great. Maybe Lindsey was really tired and wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP to get to bed and forgot his gentlemanly ways. ;)

Anyhow, thank you so much for the pics!!! I love reading everyone´s takes and seeing all the pics.

GODDESS6 10-10-2006 06:41 AM

Thanks for the kind words about the photos!

LngPrmsdRd 10-18-2006 03:16 AM

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh...thank you for sharing!!! I was at this show, right down front at the end...and I have to honestly say it was the best show I have ever, ever seen. I wouldn't have had the presence of mind either to take a photo seeing him walking into a hotel, so good on you!!! I wouldn't know what to do, I just would've stood there staring open-mouthed, probably drooling at some point. ;)

As well, I am relieved to know it was not the Renaissance myself, as that's where I stayed. ;)

~Bree (making her triumphant return to the Ledge after, like, a year and a half...LOL)

(Edit: And for the record, I have posted more than 15 times in the last 5 years...hahaha! I don't know what's up with that, but I could swear it should be higher... Impressive. 3 posts/year. ;) )
