Shut Us Down Video Plus Unheard Instrumental
Thankfully no Elizabethtown footage!! Just Lindsey and his guitar!
Not only is the instrumental intact, there are 8 extra bars of instrumental before the familiar elizabethtown instrumental kicks in. The roughness of all three videos makes me think these have been made primarily for this documentary that's been talked about. http://streamos.wbr.com/wmedia/wbr/l...s-down_450.wvx http://streamos.wbr.com/qtime/wbr/li...s-down_700.mov |
WOW! That was fantastic... Thanks for posting the links! The extended version should have been on the cd.
|
Great! How did you manage to find this? Not via google, right? The Reprise website doesn't even list him as artist. So how did you get this?
Thank you for posting. |
Thanks so much for posting. This one might be my favorite video...I love Lindsey with just his guitar. I like how looks like he is singing to someone..
This seems like it might all be documentary footage..all three videos were similar. I cannot wait to see the whole documentary. I hope it is mostly him in the studio. |
Damnit, I cried.
Thanks for the link! WHAT a song that is. |
Right this is all too much,
I'm LB overdose this week. But damn its good. And Videos too, Jeepers this is Brilliant. Keep the Good times a rolling |
Thanks so much for posting that!!!! Wow, now we have seen, "Show You How," "It Was You," and "Shut Us Down" videos this week. All but "Show You How" seem to have appeared out of the great blue yonder. No matter how they got here; I'm so glad that they did. I'm just loving life right now.....lots and lots of Lindsey. It is just terrific! :blob2: :blob1: :blob2: :blob1:

Thanks for that. I love the close up of him playing his guitar. The man is brilliant! I love the song too.
|
Just what I needed...thank you for posting.
|
I honestly could watch that guy play an acoustic all day. Absolutely love this! Possibly my favourite video of Lindsey playing.
|
Darn...
wouldnt play correctly for me, But I am sure someone will have these videos in the near future for trade via recordable DVD.
|
Arggghhh!!!! Stupid, stupid work!!! Can't get this to play here. Guess I'll have to be patient and watch it tonight at home.
This is great, though. Lindsey overdose, big time! Thanks so much for posting! |
I don't think I'll ever get over the disappointment of him leaving that instrumental part off of the album.
He better play it when he does this song live. |
Bravo!! clapclapclapclap :)
It's impressive how he can play these days. And the depth of the music. I'm loving all this. ----- Héctor |
That's a great eight bars! Should've been on the album like this for sure.
|
I unpacked my guitar because of this one, hehe.. haven't played in weeks. I'll probably get stuck somewhere halfway through trying to figure it out, but it's Inspiring. With a capital.

That was simply gorgeous! His fingerwork on the guitar is mesmerizing - sublime.
And Lindsey has this Paul Newman quality to him. The beauty he had as a young man just matured into this sexy, handsomeness that is just hard not to look at - if you are the fairer sex. One quibble - I wish some of the songs from UTS had not gotten out before the release of this album. "Shut it Down" as one example - has been played again and again on my iPod from the "Elizabethtown" soundtrack as well as "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind"...and others. But I won't dwell on it...it's fabulous that LB has this album out!!! |
Now that was incredible. He is the best guitar player ever!!
|
I love them, great videos, especially It was you and Shut us down. I like the intimate feeling in It was you and Kristen was very good in it too.
Shut us down is a brilliant proof (for those who still don't know) of his amazing talent, and the Pearl Jam attitude of the video makes it appealing also for a large public, IMO. Show you how (only the video) is a bit weak in the first half for me, but the second part is really nice. Romy |

Somehow it sounds easier when I watched that clip, I guess I understood the rhythm, but now, how to reproduce it... *gulp* |

SUD is NOT in standard tunning right?

The tuning shouldn't be too hard to figure out because we have a video, you can see exactly where he puts his fingers... oww, I'll probably give it a try tonight.
(Once I've done the 654680321 other things I need to do today :sorry: ) |
Yeah. I'm thinking of tabbing SUD before NTL becuase I'll be able to figure out the tuning. I've worked out a lot of what he is playing on NTL, but I can't figure out the tuning in it that actually makes the finger positionings playable lol. I'll try get the SUD tuning this afternoon - save you some time Mari, if you're busy.

I've got a number of other Lindsey/FM songs tabbed. For example - Come, Second Hand News, I'm So Afraid. If anyone's interested I can send the files (or links to them on some websites I've posted them on). Just ask and I can give a list. I've got a tab of "Show You How" complete with percussion, bass and that pipe/synth thing at the end. It's great fun to just mute the guitar and play along and sing along with it  Very fun song! |
OK, I think SUD is in Open E (E B E G# B E), but I've only looked at the first bar or two  If you want to double-check then I'd appreciate it :D Tunings aren't my thing
|
OK, I'm totally confused now. SUD can be played fine in Open E, BUT in the video Lindsey is playing it in Open E, but it looks like the tuning is moved up a string.
i.e. Where you hear an open E string being played he is actually playing the 2nd (A) string, but tuned to E, the 3rd string tuned to B etc. Look at 1.24 in the video and you'll see he has his fingers on 2nd fret of the 3rd string and 1st fret of the 5th string. The 2nd string is completely open, yet what you hear is 2nd fret on the second string, 1st fret on the 4th string and open 1st string. I've tabbed the first 30+ seconds and at no point does he go onto the 6th (high E) string, so I guess he's just come up with another whacky tuning to make this easier to play. Open E wasn't enough, he had to move the strings closer to his hand  I think it's something like this - E E B E G# B. The first E seems to be unused. I'll confirm that once I get the tab finished. I hope that was clear? It's almost 2am here and I should really be asleep. It seems like a lot of rambling :sorry: EDIT: Haha, woops, it can't be played in Open E. He does use the 1st string during the chorus. I haven't properly checked but it looks like it's tuned to C# - giving C# E B E G# B. I'll sort it tomorrow afternoon lol. |
