The Offical who's goin' to Atlanta thread

3 MORE DAYS!!!!

Who's going to be there?

gilby 10-03-2006 07:32 PM

I've lived in Atlanta for two years and have no idea where the Variety Playhouse is but I'll get there. By foot, MARTA, taxi, car, or sled, there is no way I'm missing out on my one chance to see this legend perform. Opening night, no less.

mylittledemon 10-03-2006 07:36 PM

D'oh!

It kills me! My brother lives in Atlanta, and I even offered to BUY him the ticket if he would go and try to get LB's autograph for me. He said, and I quote..."I dont have to time to see that nonsense!" hahaha

sands of time 10-03-2006 07:37 PM

i'm flying in from texas to see the show

ThrownDown 10-03-2006 08:30 PM

I'm going, too!! Can't wait to see him! Haven't gotten my CD yet.......

I'm sure Variety Playhouse is sold out, right? It's not a big venue.

WelshWitchPMD 10-03-2006 09:15 PM

I am going:blob2:

I lived in ATL years ago. That venue holds abot 600 people from what I remember. Depends on the way they have it set up.

SweetGirl24 10-03-2006 11:37 PM

Ok here is my situation:

Should I go? I live in Knoxville, which is not a bad drive at all. However, I am on the swim team at my university and practice for me will not end until about 4 PM on Friday. Which would put me in Atl around 7 pm (well....with traffic...I have no clue!) Is this cutting it too close to show time? Not to mention...I have to turn around and go back to Knoxville for a 7 am practice Saturday....

I must be crazy.

I'll be there! What time are the doors opening? Wasn't it 6:30? Let's meet up and get up front!

Oh, and happy birthday you guys!

TwistedGypsy 10-04-2006 08:46 AM

Doors open at 7:30.
Happy Birthday to you too!:woohoo:

Here's what I look like and I'll be wearing jeans with a cream tank underneath a green shrug. I'll also be wearing glasses. And I'm 5'10" so its not hard to miss me.

Hmm, don't know what I'm wearing yet, and I don't have a decent picture to post...I have blond hair...and I'm only 5'1", so I'll be extremely easy to miss!

We get to see him on the big opening night!!!! Btw, is anyone going to communicate the set list back to a Ledgie to post for anyone who is interested? Since lots of Ledgies know each other in "real life" :D I figured that plans might already be made for someone to do that. If not, I'd be glad to text the songs to someone over here if anyone wants to know --while it's happening!!

Stevie_Buck 10-04-2006 12:57 PM

Argh. Reading all of this makes me really want to go. I just went to the Petty/Nicks show in ATL on the 22nd, but wasn't too crazy about the part of town where the amphitheater was.

Anyone have any clue what kind of town the Variety Playhouse is in?

It's in Little Five Points. Decent area of town.

I say you skip yer Friday practice. Practice is always gonna be there, Lindsey Buckingham isn't. If you leave at 4, with Atlanta traffic, you may or may not make it. Not worth the risk.

 Count me out, then. We were carjacked in the ghetto of ATL after the TPATH show. I don't think we can afford anymore of that. lol

Easier said than done...NCAA sports...especially the SEC is intense! If I skip practice I will get kicked off the team. Not happening!

Oh my Steph, as much as I love you....don't go to Atl! It can't happen again! Go to Nashvegas with me instead! :)

Surely you can come up with a good enuff excuse not to go...? I would. Heck, then I'd have 2nds, and polish it off with a tall cool Budweiser.

Actually the neighborhood its in, Little Five Points/Inman Park, is one of the most desirable in the city, with large victorian homes selling for like $600,000  Any large city has its shady spots, but this isn't really one of them. Does the person that told you that live here? Some people are just terrified of the city and are convinced stepping foot inside the limits is instant murder

So no one be afraid to come, its a cool place!

(by the way, I'll be there with my friend Andrea. Hopefully early enough to be up front!)

We should all go out to drink/eat/hangout somewhere AFTER the show.

I am toying with the idea of going. I though I was to be out of town, but am now going to be here. If anyone has an extra ticket, let me know.

Also, there are some very cool places around there to hang out - - or there is always Midtown, which is very very cool. Anyhoo - I'll check back here later to see.

Youre the king of hip too. I have no doubt you'll show all the Ledgies that show up a good time.:)

Oh, I know it's a great place! Folks are somewhat scared of Birmingham, so I know what you mean.

I was planning to come to the show anyway, whether the venue was located out in a pasture or smack in the middle of the ghetto--doesn't matter!

My friend and I are going to head to Atlanta around 1pm (2pm eastern, oops). I think we're going to hang out at the Lenox Mall until closer to time for the Playhouse to open the doors. We do want to get up front with the Ledgies, though! Should we all meet at the Playhouse at a certain time, or what?

jannieC 10-05-2006 07:15 PM

Grad school is kicking my ass so...no concert for me in Atlanta as planned. Too many projects/papers due. I know, it's very sad, but it's all about sacrifice. I guess. :(

True, it's about a 5 hour drive, which is the main reason I'm not going. If I could do schoolwork while my husband drove, without getting carsick, it could have been doable. However, reading one paragraph in a moving car makes me want to hurl. :distress:

I'm sorry you can't go either. :xoxo:
