What's going on with Greatest Hits and Time?
I seem to be seeing the 1988 "Greatest Hits" EVERYWHERE and dirt cheap recently. Also, I've seen a few coppies of "Time" here and there which is rare. Anybody else in the UK noticed this and does anyone have any reason for it? "Greatest Hits" was in Asda and HMV for £2.99 and time was in Virgin and Music Zone for £6.99. Any ideas?

Hello Everybody!!
I'm a uk newbie and somewhat longtime lurker! Hoping to have some good fun here on the ledge. Yes I have noticed this too. I recently got my GH cd for £2.67 duty free at the airport! Beat that! I now have No Questions Asked on cd for the first time, my life is complete:lol: Theyre selling Time space in HMV for £5.00 and RAL US import for 8. Needless to say I got both! BTW, When was the last time anyone saw SA on the shelves anywhere? I was beginning to think it might have been deleted!! |

Best-of sets usually fall in the "midline" category. These are albums that are sold for less but are still highly desirable. Artists who have stood the test of time usually have a good part of their catalog in the midline market. This is why certain albums keep selling for years and years.

innocentthing-don't let these negative comments bother you!! You go on with No Questions Asked!!! *humming....* "when I seeeee him.....I feeeel him...." heehee....:D |

Let's remember that Disco, Rap/Hip-Hop, & Opera have fans, too. And, let's be honest. "No Questions Asked" is NOT one of Stevie's better tunes. (but it IS quite a bit better than "The Second Time") |

And I agree that it is not her best, but I relate to that song, so that is why I love it so :D |

And, Fleetwood Mac would've ended in May 1970. |

It's a good album to listen to whilst doing housework i.e. you can hardly hear it cos of the vacuum lol. It's so same-ey. It just drones on and on and on it's one of those that you can't wait for it to end. The worst thing about it is the fact that I actually payed £8.99 for it about 3 or 4 years ago. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!! RIP OFF!! |

As far as I am personally concerned - replacing Stevie with Bekka was a big mistake. I don't believe Fleetwood Mac should ever have any other female members other than Christine & Stevie - I would feel the exact same way about "Time" if Stevie was involved and Christine was replaced with Bekka. Just my opinion... |

But again, Im just spouting off my opinion :D EDIT: And about the Peter Green thing - there are plenty of people who think Fleetwood Mac were never any good once Peter Green jumped ship - you of all people should know that.... |

And on a side note - I love Gary Wright  wasn't he the first person to release an album made up only of music from a keyboard? |
I really just think that it is difficult to change someones perceptive of a band after key players have left. Well, key players that one is used to listening to. That spark, chemistry and magic is gone that you loved so much. It's not to say that Peter Green is better than Lindsey, or Stevie is better than Bekka. They are just totally different bands imho. The reason I fell in love with Fleetwood Mac in the first place is because of the chemistry of the Rumours line-up. I'm not saying the other reincarnations are awful (I can't really pass ANY judgement because I have never really listened to them) but I just prefer this lineup.
Exact same with a cover of a song. I never got it until recently. My mother would always get SO mad when people would remake songs she listened to growing up and she would say...."Its not as good as the original". Well..of course it's not. You're used to hearing it a certain way...but people hearing it for the first time may love it. Same with the different lineups of the ever-changing mac. did that make sense?? not to step on anyone's toes. I think the "original" way you hear it is more than likely always going to be your favorite and nothing will ever compare. Quote:

However, the cold fact is...Time WAS a bad album. It was a waste of everyone's time and a waste of money to those who bought it. |

that's definately different than "bad". |

I know..I wonder if they just "assumed" it wouldn't do good because S and L were gone so they didn't bother. I would think they would have tried even harder to promote since they had some ground to cover with all the band memeber changes. |
