Boy, she sucked the life outta that song, didn't she? :rolleyes:

No wonder she dropped it. Hello, Stevie?? Energy? Ever heard of it? She had the perfect opportunity to rock the end of that song AND to play the full extended version with the "And DOOONNNNNN'T condescend to me!!" part.

I'm surprised she didn't have them bring out a chaise lounge for her to relax on while she bleated out those three notes. Which really, really sucks cuz I freeeking love this song....

Bleh.

PittsburghChain 09-26-2006 11:49 PM

Agreed

ya...u said it..but thanks for posting this. Its better than nothing at all.

Love to all

This is one of those songs that just absolutley should have gotten the FULL-BLOWN video treatment. I just think of how much I love the videos for Everyday,& Sorcerrer. THis songs video COULD HAVE BEEN really cool.
uh, sigh..

Oh, and thank you for posting that. i do love the music at the end of the live versions.

desertangel 09-27-2006 02:03 AM

Did we say what show that was from? Was it pre or post 9/11? Don't forget she cancelled/postponed some shows on that tour due to bronchitis also, so yea... all things considered... some shows weren't too energetic. My how soon we forget and give the lady a break already!!!!!! :p

strandinthewind 09-27-2006 05:46 AM

I saw many shows on that tour and the song was a snoozer at all of them :shrug: In many ways that tour was a disaster for her, esp. considering the last time we saw her was for the Enchanted tour where her vocal range was far greater and she took risks.

I did, however, enjoy hearing the song live, but thought that with a little more effort it could have been great - esp. after that whole intro about how she waited years to do it, etc. I mean compare this tepid delivery to that of other self described long awaited songs Beautiful Child on the SYW your or Silver Springs on The Dance :shrug:

Wow, that was bad. I've never seen that song done live. The frankenboks are just so distracting! :( That song should have been on SYW (I think Lindsey could have done some great things with that song) and Silver Girl should hve been on TISL. JMO.

I agree - but LB, according to La Nicks, poo pood it so many times :laugh:

GavinBrown 09-27-2006 02:30 PM

agreed

This was a total snoozer live, along with Bombay Saphires.....I was so disappointed....and it was the first tour I saw stevie on!!! I went to 3 dates back to back and i was 18, goddddd I cant believe that was 5 yrs ago. Stevie fans are the best though, loved tailgating and drinking underage with my tambourine along for the ride...lol. Anyhow I will go to the grave saying that Fall From Grace should have been the first TISL single, along with a kickass video and it would have recieved a LOT of attention.

JazmenFlowers 09-27-2006 05:10 PM

biggest mistake of the TISL era? not producing a kick-ass video for POTU. :nod:

Silver Girl should have been left in a shoebox of old nasty demos with The Coffee Song and Mabel Normand.

If you're running an antivirus and firewall (like Norton) try disabling them temporarily. Just a thought. Mine does that from time to time.

So I watched it. The whole thing. And it's true. Her performance was admittedly lackluster. Very monotone and not much moving around. Low energy. She has her days. And like I said, 9/11-bronchitis. It's weird because at the beginning of the song she's all chatty about way back when she first wrote it how negative it was and how she went back later and changed it to be not so negative...blah..blah..blahblah..blah, pulling on the ribbons. Then the performance itself is so low. Hmmm.. oh well. Still love the song.

elie 09-28-2006 04:02 AM

I was not crazy about the performance. But I've got to say:
I 'm totally in love with the "Planets of the Universe" demo on the second CD of the "Rumours" re-release. I can't for the life of me understand why it was not realeased then, as it was. I don't care much for what she did on the song in TISL. I don't hate it but still, I prefer the old version if I have to listen to it.

sable 09-28-2006 09:15 AM

......

i dont mind the song, i like the way it sounds on the album, with quite a beefy sound to it, but it isnt my pic for a good stevie song, i think i only like it because of the original version, if she'd of mixed some of those lyrics in,(mainly i'm talking about the condesend bit,and the do do do do do bits at the end) then it would of been a lot better.

As far as that viudeo goes tho i quite liked it yeah she didnt have much movement in her but she sounded ok, she didnt go off on a whailer.

~~~kezzie~~~ :wavey:
Oh, I agree. I'm just sayin', there's so many more style's out there that are more visually pleasing. It's not like she can't afford to have something really stylish (and the frankenboks ain't stylish :distress: ) custom made for her.
I think more of a smooth leather with an inside zipper would be nicer with a dress.
These two examples are more for style and not so much the height :D
and besides that, why not wear legwarmers to cover up the ridiculous ankle part? I mean, she wears them now and then, but if she's wearing Frankenboks, the legwarmers are a must. same goes for when she does pull out those ankle platform boots.
yeah, i guess she could find another style. at this point, it just cracks me up, though, so i can't hate them. i mean, she's spent 150 years being a sexy mama and refusing to go onstage while overweight, but she'll go on in those? :laugh: it really cracks me up.
God love her Homegirl, but if she really "refused to go onstage while overweight" she would have performed like, a dozen concerts since 1986.
bookie29 09-28-2006 05:54 PM
Blah!
I agree!! Can anyone say "bathroom break"? Let's count how many heads passed in front of the camera during that song.
Don't get me wrong, I love this song but it is so blah. To make matters worse, when I saw her in Chicago, this song followed a blistering performance of Stand Back. This was complete with pulling back the mike stand, high kick, and twirls. The crowd was so fired up and then she threw cold water on the whole thing.
I also agree that a video should have been made. I heard the remix all the time at the clubs and there was no video to go along with it. At one club for New Years they played the top 25 songs and Planets was one of them. It was the only song without a video. Instead we got a screen with lame graphics.
Oh well...
Woow, how true. What would the video have been like? All the TISL ones were really well done ... what would this one have entailed? Opinions?
