Can you copy and paste the link to that youtube so we can see the video you reference and make comment?

steviefan59 09-26-2006 10:40 AM

i'll try doing that

i'll give it a go but i believe it was a vh1 thing aabout the making of syw. give me a few min to see if i can find it because there's a load of stevie vids there...pat

steviefan59 09-26-2006 11:04 AM

found the clip

i found the clip and will attach it or try to...pat...okay that didn't work...it's under stevie and lindsey on youtube.com...pat

BTFLCHLD 09-26-2006 11:16 AM

well, there are alot of youtubes under stevie and lindsey.

If you copy/paste the internet address here it would be easier to see what you are typing about.

For instance...there is this one:

BTFLCHLD 09-26-2006 11:27 AM

:D I think that is the one!

BTFLCHLD 09-26-2006 11:34 AM

I think stevie is referring to the mix of one of the songs - you will recall when they had two engineers mix their music to see which one stevie liked best. I do not recall that clip in DR but I do not recall every scene. And the clip on the older and wiser is indeed from a vh1 interview. The thing about the homemade videos is there is a lot of editing involved and sometimes people create out of context to twist a story to the version of their liking. I prefer the twists the artists themselves allow. I do find the initial clip of Lindsey at the console endearing. I am looking forward to the upcoming Lindsey documentary....are you?

steviefan59 09-26-2006 11:36 AM

what song

yes that is the 1. he talks about his feelings and stevie talks about him not liking the song but it quits before it tells u what song...pat...ps i tried to do the paperclip attachment as i saved the file and couldn't figure out how it worked. as far as copy and paste i'm a piker. i know how but couldn't figure out how to get it to the ledge/stevie forum:laugh: ...pat

BTFLCHLD 09-26-2006 11:48 AM

If you listen on high and watch the editskips this is the convo:

"I knew you wouldn't like it. When I was called and asked about it."
"Of course you did"
[edit]
"Alright then think of something else."
[edit]
"He's gonna hate it!"
[edit]
"If I am going to be perceived as the troublemaker then so be it..why should it be any different now."

Unfortunately, it appears we have seperate conversations melded into what the video 'editor' would like to appear close to one.

No problem Pat on the copy.paste...I am just glad I found it that quickly. ;)

I haven't watched the doc in a while and may persure tonight to gain more insight.

There is a very telling little snipet I found amoungst DR and that is when they are waiting for warner to come listen to the songs. stevie asks lindsey what songs they should play. they both discuss whether or not warner would want to listen to all the songs or perhaps talk and listen to a select few songs. lindsey feels they should just play all the songs. stevie says lets hold off and see how it goes. as soon as warner sits down, stevie says "ok play my four demos!" lindsey's face is priceless. I have to capture that soon for review.

steviefan59 09-26-2006 12:18 PM

totally agree

o yes..i laughed over that 1. i watch destiny about once a month and wished that i had the vh1 clip as well. i contacted rachel who downloaded the clip to see if she has more she can add to it but i think ur right. the whole of what was said has been edited. as far as lindsey goes his new cd has a couple of great songs on it but i won't buy the cd for just 2 songs. i'll wait until it's on itunes and buy the 2 i liked...i'd just like to thank u for ur help figuring out what they were argueing over. i remember the stuff about who was going to produce the songs and really loved stevie and warner reps digging her 4 songs...lmao...pat

which two?

I think the consensus we had all come to a few years ago, was that they were probably talking about choosing the album title. There was a longer clip of this on some VH1 show, and Stevie's full comment was (and I might be paraphrasing just slightly), "He's going to hate it -- he's going to hate it because I wrote it. So think of something else."

In other words, she felt that Lindsey would hate calling the album 'Say You Will,' because she's the one who wrote that particular song.

bikerchic 09-26-2006 01:32 PM

The title of this thread should be more like "Which Song Did Lindsey Like?"

steviefan59 09-26-2006 03:27 PM

2 lindsy songs 1 like

the 2 songs i like the best are cast away dreams and someone's gotta. these imho are the best of the 1s out of the new acoustic cd and cast away is 1 of the best songs lindseys written in years...pat

I would have to agree. It is my favorite bathtub song of the moment.

DestinyRules 09-26-2006 03:55 PM

There was one snippet of the VH-1 All Access show where Stevie literally screams, "of course you hate it! It's because I wrote it!" at Lindsey. I don't know which song it was, but my guess is it was Silver Hurl. :p

Kelly 09-26-2006 03:58 PM

The conversation is clearly edited together so it seems pretty impossible to figure out exactly what Lindsey hates. I hope he is talking about that wretched Silver Girl.

It's a nice tune with a great melody, but it's far from being one of his best songs. The weird stuff he is doing, like Shut Us Down and Show You How, is more daring and artistically interesting.

In your opinion, correct?

Do you think Castaway Dreams is more daring and artistically interesting than Show You How or Shut Us Down?

What? so you can render me 'stupid'
Lindsey's words tend to my heart.
How shall I express that in words to be understood...impossible I say.

:sorry:

I'm not interested in labeling anyone anything here but it looked like you were suggesting that my comments about Show You How and Shut Us Down were nothing but opinion. In your opinion, do you think those songs are less daring and artistically interesting than Castaway dreams? If you're saying Castaway touches a chord deeper in you than the other songs, that's cool, but that doesn't contradict what I said really.

Neat.
your comments...
if not opinion, then what were they.
what is to contradict?
I am in love with Lindsey Buckingham.
His every song IMO is "artistic" and "daring"

^^^^

I think she is offering that as a starting point

This assumes (lest I be accused of such  ) that:

1. That entire thing was not staged, and

2. it is in chronological order

which are two HUGE assumptions IMO - and this is all just my opinion BTW

I know - he reminds me a little of the classic husband trying to be the alpha dog and then the bitch pipes up and the male puts his head down and does as he is told
