estranged4life 09-24-2006 06:32 PM

I did not know...

the Ledge was down until this afternoon.

Marty, Thanks for getting this ol' board backup.

Maria, I'm not kidding. I was going to make the exact same post, and you beat me, by seconds to it!
THANKS so much Marty. I was the guy who called you at home last night. I felt terrible bothering you, but was going through withdrawal!!!
The Ledge is absolutely the BEST site on the internet, and I SINCERELY thank you and Lis for all the effort you put into it! It is much appreciated!

WelshWitchPMD 09-24-2006 06:36 PM

Thank you, Marty!!:xoxo: I was so afraid that I would never see The Ledge again.:distress:

jannieC 09-24-2006 06:52 PM

Thanks from me too, and I'm sorry if I contributed to any of those two thousand emails!

Serious withdrawals here, too. :wavey:

PsychCat 09-24-2006 06:54 PM

Wow.... guess one doesn't appreciate this place until it's not here!
I felt like screaming at my computer "WHERE DID EVERYBODY GO??!!"!!

As they say... "get help somewhere...."

DrummerDeanna 09-24-2006 06:57 PM

Let me add my name to the list of thanks....I was totally going through withdrawals...

We don't tell you and Lisa nearly enough how much we appreciate the work you do here.

And this little blip reminded me how much The Ledge means - I'm going to renew my supporting membership ASAP!!!

michelle2677 09-24-2006 07:16 PM

Glad it's back up!! I had about a 12 hour drive today and was "TRYING" to check it on my phone. I couldn't figure out if it was the phone or the ledge. 12 hours of driving without the ledge was hell.

Thanks Marty :)

marc402 09-24-2006 07:28 PM

thanx Marty
although i don't reply as much as i'd like
i check into the boards almost daily thanx for getting it up again ;)

TwistedGypsy 09-24-2006 07:36 PM

Thank you too for all the hard work that you two put into this site. :xoxo:

carrie721 09-24-2006 08:45 PM

yes, thank you so much for getting it up and running again! i was pretty worried earlier!

That's awesome, Deanna! I know Marty and Lis will really appreciate that. :xoxo:

I'm sure they'd also really appreciate it if a few more Ledgies followed your lead. It's easy to forget sometimes just how much money it takes to run & maintain a website of this size.
Every bit of outside support helps a lot.

:D I wasn't sure I should "advertise" that I was doing it- I don't mean to brag - but seriously - it's very cheap ($1) a month - and well - I pay for other things I care about - this is no different.

It's hard to imagine my little contribution making a difference -but if more of us did it....*nudge nudge* it adds up :D

$1 a month? Well, I'm glad you did advertise- I'm about to become a supporting Ledgie- weee! :wavey:

EDIT: Well, I will be in a few days- I only have $17 in my bank account right now- ha ha. :( Actually that's sad, but I will do it this week. xo

Heh - well it breaks down to $1 a month, and you can do either six months or 12...so if someone is willing to sacrifice a daily Starbucks or some other coffee run - or two..they can support the Ledge :D

No pressure ;)

I've already told you privately, but I'm gonna publicly announce my gratitude to you as well! Thanks Marty!!!

And I just today became a Supporting Ledgie. :)

It is so worth it, too! You can shut off the ads, have 150 PMs stored in your PM Box and you can become invisible, too.

irishgrl 09-24-2006 09:14 PM

I want to add my voice to the chorus of Thank You's and as soon as I get my finances under control, I will become a supporting member as well. My credit cards are temporarily incommunicado but as soon as I have some leeway, well, you know

being broke sucks.

most definitely worth it.

Which reminds me, I have to renew my pay subscription in a couple of weeks (edit-Which I just took care of a lil' bit ago)

macfan 57 09-25-2006 05:43 AM

Thanks, Marty & Lis! I wasn't sure if I'd ever see the Ledge again.:distress:

I'd also put in a plug for more people getting a Ledge subscription. I would think if you can afford to be on the internet, you can surely afford an extra $1 a month to help out Marty & Lis and keep the Ledge going.

Are you saying that you actually called Marty and Lisa at HOME to get them to fix a website that you don't even pay money to help support?

Jesus. Read a book or something.

I'm a bad example. My paypal was broken though but I setup a new account so I will become a supporting Ledgie ASAP!

I tried with my credit card a number of times but got error messages. Hopefully it will work for you.

Jesus. Read a book or something.

You are rude. I merely called, and asked Marty if he knew the website was down.
If you had ANY idea of my financial situation of the past two years, coming up with over 14K in vet bills, you might have an inkling of understanding. I've -literally- eaten out three times, gotten rid of my cell phone, and downgraded my cable to the basic $12 package, all in order to try and save my dog. And even after all that, I have BARELY been able to make my house payment.

My opinion of you, is far less than it was yesterday.

Hope you can scrape together the pennies for the long distance call then.

My point was less about the supporting ledgie status and more about the fact that IT'S JUST A WEBSITE.

mikeschmike 09-25-2006 12:19 PM

A dollar a month? I can afford that. Count me in!

The Ledge went down on I think Saturday afternoon/night - then it was up for a little bit - then went down again on Sunday. It was sad.

------

And while it's great that some are supporting Ledgies, it's really crappy to judge someone who isn't - we don't know everyone's life circumstances...and $6 IS a lot of money to some people...I remember my very broke days...

And yes, this is "just a website" but as for me, I enjoy talking to the people on this website, and the online interaction and discussions, the sharing of pictures and videos.

estranged4life 09-25-2006 01:21 PM

I'm still...

living in my 'very broke days'...Ahh medical bills

SuzeQuze 09-25-2006 01:23 PM

Let's not point any fingers at contributors or non-contributors. Contribute if you want to and can and don't if you don't/can't. There's no need to make this thread personal. It was meant to be a Thank You for Marty and Lisa's hard work which we all appreciate very much. Let's not lose focus of that.

nowadays I think many many Americans are either living in very broke days - or are just a sickness or something away from it. Times are hard...I'm struggling to start a savings account - but mostly I'm a paycheck to paycheck gal...

DavidMn 09-25-2006 02:06 PM

Thank you indeed! Much appreciated.

estranged4life 09-25-2006 02:14 PM

True...

we live from paycheck to paycheck.

Trust me, one major illness and all ones life-savings will go out the window.

The bills ya thought were important (example: credit cards) will mean diddle-squat when it comes between deciding to pay bills to keep a good credit score or pay medical expenses to get the correct treatment.

You know what though, I'm glad I'm still among the living. Sometimes you have to look at the glass as being half full. Also, I have some great memories of things I've done the last 10 years. This is just a down period for me, that's all. :)

DrummerDeanna 09-25-2006 02:38 PM

Heh...I think nowadays financial messes are much easier to come by. Sigh. I take small comfort in the fact that I am doing better than my mother - I still do have a high credit score - but I'm carrying way too much debt right now and not a big savings, and as a result I'm totally nervous.

But for now I'm ok, I have food in my fridge, a roof over my head, and my health. For those things I am grateful.
