The coroner investigating the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son Daniel on Sunday tells TMZ that Daniel died of unnatural causes. "We do know the cause of death," says Her Majesty's Coroner, Linda T. Virgill. "But we wish to reserve publishing the cause of death pending the toxicologist's report." Virgill adds that her office will be releasing the results of the report and cause of death Thursday.

Well then, murder certainly seems likely doesnt it? now the question is WHY?

 motive is the deal breaker.

bikerchic 09-13-2006 09:40 PM

And I also heard that the hospital was unable to find the proper oxygen supply needed to resuscitate him. Oh boy, big law suit.

irishgrl 09-13-2006 09:51 PM

all I can say is "Poor Anna. "

strandinthewind 09-13-2006 09:54 PM

I don't think anyone is seriously talking murder. My understanding is he was in the room and started convulsing or acting in a strange manner while sleeping. Anna N. got out of bed and tried to help him. The other person in the room (rumored to be her lawyer Howard Stern) was also trying to help and Anna N. became hysterical and started blaming him. After about 22 minutes of trying to revive the boy, he was pronounced dead.

Murder just does not seem to fit those "facts."

good thing you put quotations around the word "facts"

because until the coroner gives his report, arent we still just waiting?

strandinthewind 09-13-2006 10:11 PM

We are indeed still waiting. But, things have been leaked and the police have let some stuff out.

Anyway, we'll know in a few days I guess.

GODDESS6 09-14-2006 06:49 AM

this is all so sad & disturbing, i really feel bad for anna, i heard she has been very hysterical & pretty out of it~ god bless her heart:angel: ~

Kelly 09-14-2006 07:02 AM

If the third person in the room was Howard Stern, which I doubt because he was seen rushing to the hospital AFTER Daniel died according to a Today show reporter, I will have a hard time believing he killed Anna's son. He was so close to Daniel and Anna and what could possibly be the motive? I guess anything is possible though. :( I feel so bad for Anna...she has had a pretty ****ty life and moved to the Bahamas permanently to get away from BS. Then her son dies mysteriously. Man, its so sad. Between this and Steve Irwin, plus 9/11, the last two weeks have been sad for me.

JazmenFlowers 09-14-2006 08:49 AM

my heart goes out to Anna. so sad.

Wow, I'm just surprised that I never put 2 & 2 together. And now that I think about it, I guess I never heard his last name mentioned before .

Anna's mystery guest

Inquest set in son's 'suspicious' death

BY MICHELLE CARUSO
DAILY NEWS WEST COAST BUREAU CHIEF

Anna Nicole Smith

The mystery shrouding the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son heightened yesterday as Bahamian authorities called it "suspicious" and confirmed a third person was in the room when the 20-year-old dropped dead.

Coroner Linda Virgill ordered an inquest next month to determine how Daniel Smith died and who may be responsible. It could lead to criminal charges.

Daniel Smith died Sunday morning in his 38-year-old mom's maternity ward room at Doctors Hospital in Nassau, the Bahamas, three days after she gave birth to a girl.

The coroner's move followed a bombshell report in The Tribune, a Bahamian newspaper, that other hospital patients overheard Anna Nicole Smith "screaming loudly and blaming someone" for her son's collapse about 9 a.m. - 38 minutes before hospital officials say a nurse was called to the room and attempts were made to revive Daniel.

The ex-reality show star was heard screaming, "You caused this!" to the third person who was present in the room, The Tribune reported.

Police and the coroner refused to identify the third person in the former Playboy model's room, but they said it was not a member of the hospital's staff.

The person was "a male" described as a "boyfriend" of Anna Nicole Smith's, a Bahamian source told the Daily News, but it was not her ex-flame Larry Birkhead, who says he is the father of her baby.

But Michael Scott, an attorney for Anna Nicole Smith, said the third person in the hospital room was Howard K. Stern, another Smith lawyer.

Scott said both Stern and Anna Nicole tried desperately to revive Daniel, even after doctors had pronounced him dead. The bereaved mother was so distraught that she had to be sedated, Scott said.

"The devastation and grief over Daniel's sudden death coupled with the sedation has been so extreme that Anna Nicole experienced memory loss of the event," he said.

Stern could not be reached for comment.

A possible overdose was suspected in Daniel Smith's death, sources said. But no illegal drugs or paraphernalia were found on his body or at the scene, according to Reginald Ferguson, assistant commissioner of the Royal Bahamian Police Force.

The body had no apparent physical injuries, and an autopsy ruled out heart attack and other natural causes of death, Virgill said.

Toxicology reports, which would show any levels of drugs, alcohol or toxins in the body, will not be released until the inquest, which is set to begin Oct. 23, Virgill said. During the inquest, witnesses - including Anna Nicole Smith - will testify in court under oath before a jury.

If the jury finds that a crime took place, the case will be referred to the attorney general for possible prosecution, authorities said.

I hope this isn't true. 38 minutes is a long time to wait to request medical assistance anywhere, never mind in a hospital!

BTFLCHLD 09-14-2006 11:39 AM

I seem to recall quite some time ago Anna making a reference to him being sickly as a child wherein they didn't think he was going to make it and she considered him her miracle angel  It is sad that he died in such a shocking, unexpected way, but I do hope it isn't due to dope or foul play.

Kelly 09-14-2006 12:02 PM

Jeez..it just gets weirder and weirder. Poor Anna, I am sure she is in no shape to be taking care of a newborn.

bikerchic 09-14-2006 12:06 PM

I heard she called the baby Hannah. I thought that was kinda cute. Hannah and Anna. I thought she might call her Danielle after Daniel.

DavidMn 09-14-2006 02:00 PM

Looks like the news channels will have a juicy case to talk about again.

FROM DLISTED: Gawker is reporting that Getty Images has sent out an email to all celebrity weekly magazines claiming they have 17 images of Daniel Smith's last moments with his mother, Anna Nicole Smith.

FROM GAWKER: Fire Sale: Anna Nicole Smith's Last Moments With Her Son
Before all the inevitably ugly details surrounding the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son, Daniel -- who was found dead in Anna Nicole's hospital room on Sunday morning, just three days after she gave birth to her new daughter -- emerge with the autopsy and toxicology reports, why not cash in? Getty Images has sent an email to celebrity weekly editors saying they have 17 pictures of Anna Nicole, Daniel and the new baby, taken in the hospital the day before Daniel died. Preview images show Anna Nicole and Daniel in the hospital bed, with Daniel smiling and holding the baby; Daniel standing up, cradling the baby; and Anna Nicole holding the baby while her lawyer and BFF, Howard K. Stern, leans in with them.

How much might one pay for these tender, macabre moments? Getty is asking for $200K, but the email has a disclaimer of "NO NEGATIVE PRESS." For that, you've got to drop an extra hundred grand.

Update: We're hearing that Life & Style won a bidding war, shelling out $375K for the pics. Who knew the mag even had that kind of money?

DrummerDeanna 09-15-2006 06:27 PM

^^

Well I guess better those photos than photos of a dead body - at least these are of his last happy moments with his mom and new sister. Obviously someone was let in to take those photos

bikerchic 09-19-2006 12:45 PM

Here's the photo's if you're interested. It's so sad :distress:

bikerchic 09-19-2006 12:49 PM

He looks kinda pale and sickly in any picture I've seen of him :(

I think a couple of days. The baby was born on the 7th, he died on the 10th (I think).

estranged4life 09-19-2006 01:01 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong...

but didnt I hear on TV yesterday that he was taking prescription anti-depressiants?

Oh ok. I thought it was literally moments after they were taken.

bikerchic 09-19-2006 01:15 PM

Please explain to me why a magazine (I think Life & Style) would pay $600,000 or something for these photo's but they're leaked onto the internet beofre the magazine comes out?

I think it has something to do with some people's fascination with death.:distress:

strandinthewind 09-19-2006 01:19 PM

Those are hard to look at. They look so happy and she, of course, looks beautoful in a hospital bed hours after giving birth.

I wonder if we will ever know the truth and/or if it really is any of our business outside of a crime.

GardenStateGirlie 09-19-2006 03:02 PM

nothing like personal gain, life & style.

gross.

DrummerDeanna 09-19-2006 03:19 PM

Those pictures are so sad...they look so happy, and really the whole thing is heartbreaking - losing a child must be the worst horror one can experience - and the fact that it happened right in front of her...it just breaks my heart.

I don't know--these photos actually don't bother me - they show that at least his final days were happy ones

SuzeQuze 09-19-2006 03:20 PM

It will be a miracle if she recovers from this, it's awful. I bet she will be glad to have the photos someday. At least he got to see his sibling. So sad.

i don't think it's so much the content of the photos that bothers me either, but rather the fact that someone would sell them to a magazine which would in turn run the photographs to make a profit.

Ah well, yeah - that's disgusting - but it's part of the business I guess.
