Getting Over the Loss of Pets.....

I'm so sad. It happened yesterday morning when I was leaving for work. I loved all over my kitty cat, told her goodbye, got in my vehicle, was backing out of the drive and she ran right under it. It was horrible! She went quickly, no suffering. But, I cannot get the visual out of my head. I keep asking myself why, why, why did she do that? Why didn't I just leave her inside that morning? I miss her so much!! I can't believe she's gone. She brought me sooo much laughter and joy. When will this get easier?

Mama misses ya babygirl!!

Oh, that's so awful- you poor thing! It takes time- the only way *I* have ever gotten over the loss of a pet is to get a new one. But you need to give yourself a little time first. I am so sorry!

DrummerDeanna 09-09-2006 09:15 PM

OH my gosh..I am so sorry - I can't even imagine what you must be feeling. A former co-worker of mine had a very unfortunate accident recently which ended in the loss of her cat - she was crushed and then inevitably blamed herself - but these things happen, sad as it is, and it's no one's fault.

I'm really really sorry - hang in there :o

Iam so sorry for the loss of your family member. Pets are like family really.:distress:

diamondsnake 09-10-2006 12:48 AM

Oh my, that's heartbreaking. I am so sorry for your loss.

JazmenFlowers 09-10-2006 01:08 AM

I'm so sorry Lisa. I know your heart must be broken.

it will get better...just takes time. I had a dog many, many years ago that used to go out and use the bathroom and come back and then one day she just never came back. we cried for days on end, searched streets, gutters, ditches, everything and never found her. to this day I still tear up. I wish I had some words to help. you'll never be fully mended, but you learn to remember the laughter and joy and not the sorrow you feel now.

HomerMcvie 09-10-2006 02:22 AM

My deepest sympathies to you.

ragandbone 09-10-2006 02:26 AM

Oh, sweet kitty.
I am so sorry! At least she was a loved kitty. How old was she?

PsychCat 09-10-2006 02:39 AM

My deepest condolences on your lost. There is nothing anyone can say or do.... it will just take some time.
I lost one of my kitties this summer to the inevitable kidney failure. I am thankful I got to be with her as she passed. Her sister is still with me... and spoiled rotten, don't ya know.

May you find peace and blessings thru this time.

Gypsy-Rhiannon 09-10-2006 03:34 AM

Oh how awful. So sorry to hear about your loss.

irishgrl 09-10-2006 10:34 AM

the same thing happened to my kitty only it was my friend who ran him over as she was leaving my house. Nothing really helps, only time passing will ease the pain. What I did was make a scrapbook of his life and I wrote him a goodbye poem.

also, please go to
www.petloss.com
for support. there is another site you may find useful, http://rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm
the poem is especially important for fresh loss...

carrie721 09-10-2006 10:34 AM

oh no, that is tragic! i am so sorry for your loss.

that's really sad. :( it's hard when other people bring harm to pets - when i was little, we had this horrible neighbor who hated our cat, and he smacked the cat in the head with a shovel, shattering his jaw. luckily he recovered, but it breaks my heart to think about it.

BTFLCHLD 09-10-2006 02:26 PM

wow...that is sad. Please do visit www.petloss.com They are very supportive and have helped me get through with my animals, and when you are feeling OK your story and support can help others. What is your baby's name?

Lisa1769 09-10-2006 03:27 PM

Thank you for your wishes everyone. It really does mean alot to me. I swear I still hear her bell jingling outside sometimes.

BTFLCHLD---her name was babygirl or kittybaby....lol...anything baby, she was my baby.

Mary, I haven't visited the site yet. Thanks for the link. I will check it out later though!! Thanks!

ragandbone---She was 16 months. She was an orphan kitty I bottle fed since she was itty bitty. Everyone told me she would never make it.
But, she did and she was such a little spitfire!!

Thank you Carrie!

Thank you Pip!

PsychCat---Sorry to hear about you loss as well. Keep on spoiling the other one.

Thank you Homer. Hope Cash is doing well!

Jaz--- you are so right about the laughter, I remember all the silly **** she used to do. I swore I had the funniest cat. So full of personality. Thank you!!

Thank you diamondsnake!

DavidMn---Thanks you also. She was a big part of my family!! I think I have more pictures of her than my own kid!!...lol..

Thank you Deanna!! Give Clancey a big a ole hug!!

Janet---One of the first things I told my husband was, no more pets. It's just to painful when you lose them. Maybe in time that will pass. I'm such a HUGE animal lover. I cannot leave other peoples pets alone. Thank You!!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.:(

It is so hard to say goodbye to a loved one... When I lost my beloved baby dog to cancer 4 years ago, I was devasted... she was 12 years old and had been my constant companion for that time... it was the most pain and grief I have ever felt... over time I was able to think about her with a smile and eventually I wrote a song dedicated to her memory and the little man (new puppy) who joined our house a few weeks later...

Give yourself some grieving time and please do get yourself another baby kitten to love.... there are too many cats out there that need loving homes... it would be a pity if the love you obviously have for kittys was not lavished onto a new needy heart... A new kitten or cat will never replace your babygirl, but it will go a long way towards mending your heart...and putting a smile back into your step.

I'm sorry to hear this Lisa. Time heals, that's all I can offer you right now. We lost our cat 5 months ago, and we said that we wouldn't get another. A couple months later a little kitten with 1 eye was sent our way, so we adopted him. Haven't regretted it at all. So it may take some time, but it will get easier for you.

Lisa-I just wanted to say I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have a friend-her brother-in-law did the same thing and it is so sad. I hope with every day, it is getting easier. And I also agree with whoever said the only "real" way to get over a pet (or make it easier) is to get a new one. That is why when our dog started to get older, we got another one so it would make the transistion easier.

Thanks Michelle! We had just gotten back from vacation the day before. I worried the whole time about her getting run over while we were gone. We run a construction company so there is heavy machinery around constantly.
I keep thinking maybe she thought I was leaving her again so she was chasing after me.:distress:

I know you are exactly right in what you say. I'm sure I will someday. I only had her a little over a year, I couldn't imagine what you must have felt after losing your dog after 12 years. How saddening.

Thanks for your kindness everyone!!
