"It Was You" - beautiful song / shipper's nightmare?
anyone actually listen to the lyrics on this one? it's a beautiful song that i don't have the time to type out, but it definitely puts the nails in the S&L coffin.
any interps on the new songs? |
I said the same thing on 7Wonders. My dreams are crushed but I will always have the memories.

I thought they were really nice lyrics. It's nice to get something like that from Lindsey. Shows he really loves his wife and kids.
Having said that, I hope that not all his songs become like this in the future! A few songs is cool, but I like the angsty Lindsey! |
eh..
I guess everyone interpret's songs differently.. The lyrics don't affect my feelings about SnL either way. Very nice sentiment about his children though. I like CastAway Dreams and Show You How alot more....they seem more "Lindsey". The lyrics sound more like stuff he usually writes.
|
I just finished listening to the mp3s while jogging (yeah, I'm a nerd...I listen to Lindsey while jogging, 'k?), and I heard his childrens' names in the lyrics...so cool!
I figured the song was for Kristen the first time I listened to it, but I didn't hear the kids' names 'til today. I had to log on and see if anyone else heard it. Love the song more than ever now, but "Cast Away Dreams" is still my fave among the "new" three! Yeppers, pretty much puts the ol' nail in the S & L coffin, eh?;) |
Yep I'm in agreement 'It was you' was for Kristen, as is 'Show you how'??
I think both songs have a happy upbeat feel to them that I've not heard in Lindsey's songs in a long time. I've been listening and loving 'Cast Away Dreams'! :] I've read peoples views as to what this song is about. Isn't it about mortality. Dying and Leaving his young family?? |

Oh man, really?! *runs off to listen, argh, been out of the loop the last few days* |

I'm dyin' here! And now maybe a little depressed! A nail in the S&L coffin? Anyone have lyrics to post yet?
|
wwwooooohhhh! How did you download/make mp3 flies to take jogging from the shockwave files posted at Lindsey's site?
I'm a nerd too and like to jogg to mr.buckingham. I'd like to take these new songs with me on the go. I already preordered the cd at amazon so it's not stealing them... thanks for the methods in advance. |

Yay, another nerd! Look in the thread about listening to UTS tracks on Lindsey's site. There is a post that has the mp3 links---that's how I got 'em. I've preordered two cds from the Atlanta and Nashville ticket presales yesterday, and I'll probably buy one on October 3rd since those preorders most likely won't ship 'til that day...so I ain't stealing, either! :D Christmas gifts, lovely Christmas gifts... |

Thanks for the path to those mp3s. I had a long nerdy run with my man buckingham. It was an orgasmic experience. Can't wait to see him live.
|
Thank you for those lyrics! Now I am TOTALLY depressed. I never thought this day would come! You know, where he'd write such a touching & loving song about his wife and kids. :( ;)
|
Maybe his wife would be pissed if he didn't write a song about the family, then he'd have to go buy her another big honkin diamond bracelet and she might have another kid. Imagine the child support payments. ;)
If he's happy, I'm happy. And I'm glad S&L aren't at each other's throats anymore. |

Yeah, I bet Kristen told him he HAD to write a clear song about her, because she was tired of everyone thinking he was still writing about Stevie. I wonder what Stevie thinks/would think of this song?? (or who cares, right?) |
I just want to say that I find it extremely ODD that Lindsey has to "say goodbye" yet AGAIN.......this makes what? 2, 3 times?......Methinks he doth protest too much
nail in the shipper coffin? Time will tell..... |
I've been listening to the CD almost every day since I got it, and I must say this song is one of my favorites. It's a beautiful to his wife & family, IMO.

I think it is way too sappy for me and the lyrics are trite.
I also think he wrote it when K told him to stop lusting after Stevie and also banging skanks on the road during the SYW tour. Lord Child I am contrary today  |
it's one of my favorites, also.
i loved it live! he was totally stoked to sing his kids' names. |
While I think Stevie and Lindsey have a lot of chemistry ( personal and musical) I think they have way too many issues to ever live in the same house together. I think Stevie is happy that Lindsey has kids and someone that loves him ( or his money ) and she likes how that has changed his personality. If you saw the Gold Dust Tour it was obvious Stevie was'nt thinking about Lindsey, she had the look of a satisfied woman:xoxo:
|
I absolutely loved this song, but mostly for the shot out to his kids. I thought it was very sweet!!

Having said that, there is something catchy to it and it's not horrible live. I still think it's awful, but sometimes I can't get it out of my head. |
Stevie and Lindsey - nevah gonna happen. Sorry - it's just over. Done - romantically I mean.
I liked this song a lot when I first heard it, it just gave me such a warm feeling.... |

Over between Stevie and Lindsey?? Never! If history is his guide, he can't help but repeat it....and repeat it....and repeat it!

you can make babies with anyone. But CHEMISTRY? that only comes along "once in a million years". And even tho Lindsey has proclaimed (yet AGAIN) that he's Never Going Back Again, Saying Goodbye, Cast[ing] away Dreams ETC...I happen to believe that COME said it best: "said I put God away but I just can't let her go....." so, I dont think the solution to the Stevie/Lindsey equation is necessarily sex, but rather that SOUL connection that he sure as hell doesnt have with anyone else....and all the proclamations to the contrary are just sour grapes. (lets face it folks, you dont have to keep saying goodbye to something you dont give a **** about...) |
I have thought, and will always think, LB is the one who could not let go of La Nicks. I think he has chased her since 1977. I get that he dated other girls, but I think even when he hated her after TITN, he still was scheming in some manner to get her back. Then, he got her back during The Dance and she was unable to deal with his mania and the fact that K got pregnant. I think that after K got pregnant, LB tried to behave, but could not. Now, naybe he is behaving. But, the question is for how long? And, this has more to do with his obsession over La Nicks than any actions by her to facilitate that.
Just my $0.02 |
Back to the song...It is very catchy, and it makes me smile every time I hear it, especially after seeing him sing it live. He was clearly loving it!!
|
It's stuck in my head today. It makes me happy. :D

It Was You -
definitely has nothing to do with Stevie Nicks. This is clearly a song that just celebrates the very cool "thing" you go through when you wake up one day and realize how amazing the kids you create are. And how that all relates to the relationship that produced the children. I think it's a little creepy when fans continue to create this mystique between Lindsey and Stevie. They broke up 30 years ago and Lindsey has had many girlfriends since then. Sure they have a history together that shows itself when they record and tour - but come on people, this guy is clearly in love with his wife and kids. Let him celebrate that without it having to relate back to Stevie Nicks. Time has marched on and thankfully Lindsey has continued to grow with time, rather then get stuck in some creepy time warp in the late 70's. I love these new songs and I honestly think they have very little to do with Stevie Nicks. To me they clearly show the whole struggle between work and kids. Something that most artists (that have kids) go through all the time. |
^^^
Ummm - he is still harping on it  I guess the horse's mouth isn't convincing enough though. |

I mean really Jason.  |
I think this is all ridiculous bull****.
I take Lindsey's word.. read it in the liner notes. To "Kit" and the kids.. "You are my life." I think any thoughts of Stevie on this record are purely relating to the work environment and nothing more. A little bit of reminisce in Donovan's TFTS, maybe. Stick a fork in them. "They" are done. |

I mean, seriously, I don't care. I personally wanted Lindsey for myself. But that was just so well said. |
Love this song.
And I have no doubt that Lindsey was the angry, heartbroken one after the breakup and that they may have been on and off again for years. However, I think when Lindsey left the band that was LARGELY his final say on the issue. As far as the Dance is concerned I always thought that Lindsey was playing up the drama, or maybe even just getting wrapped up in the moment, but that it was Stevie that thought more was going on than there was (Fall From Grace anyone?). And he may very well draw upon things with Stevie when he writes. They've known each other for a very long time, certainly many of his own experiences have Stevie wrapped up in them. I've wondered about no less than three references on UTS that just seem very Stevie to me. Doesn't mean they are or want to be involved romantically. But I do think he's found some peace now. It may not be the monumental thing that he had with Stevie (which of course was so monumental in part because they shared artistic dreams, something Kristin can't compete with) but not necessarily less satisfying, especially for 57 year old Lindsey. It always amazes me how much people think they are seeing into the private lives of two people by what those people do on stage in front of thousands of people. I realize some give other evidence to support their opinions, but what happens on stage often ends up as a big part of the argument. This is, of course, just my opinion. |
