SandyMac 09-07-2006 10:26 PM

Hmmm, very interesting indeed. I wonder if these songs will be the remastered songs in 5.1

Thanks for posting this.

foxyluva 09-07-2006 10:33 PM

OMG!!

A new Stevie release!! Well, not new material - but a new compilation!! Is this going to be the current VBO, taking over Timespace?

Wouldn't it just be bloody awesome if Stevie recorded a new song for the album :blob1:

SandyMac 09-07-2006 10:44 PM

I just hope it is not a rehashing of the singles from radio, etc...Throw in some rarities or something. But hell, I am happy with any new release.

Wow, Lindsey, now Stevie, quick someone pinch me. :blob2: :blob1:

greatdarkwing 09-07-2006 10:46 PM

I mean this does make sense....she's already going to be in NYC for Hulaween, so she just stays a little while longer and does press for the new release...

gldstwmn 09-07-2006 10:50 PM

Maybe this is her way of getting a few songs out a time thing she's been talking about.

JazmenFlowers 09-07-2006 10:56 PM

like everyone was saying about Lindsey...I'm not holding my breath til I see it.

thanks for the tip though!

foxyluva 09-07-2006 11:35 PM

Like I said over at the sevenwonders board - Its being released by Rhino, so Im expecting Timespace + Everyday, Sorcerer, If You Ever Did Believe, Maybe Love and Blue Denim

And I doubt it will even have new photographs

UnwindedDreams 09-08-2006 12:05 AM

That would be a god send. But even if its just what we already have, remastered, I Know THat I will not be able to resist!

Kelly 09-08-2006 05:05 AM

Rhino...hmm, I predict Timespace plus a few Enchanted tracks.

SpyNote 09-08-2006 11:47 AM

Sounds like it will be a straight up hits collection, geared towards casual and new listeners -- no remixes, rarities, or bonus tracks. Here's what Stevie said about the collection in 2005 while doing press in Australia.

So I should remember to tell you that there's a Best Of retrospective coming out to tie-in with the (Australian) tour. But there won't be any new tracks. When I came off the road six weeks ago, I just didn't have the time to do some new recording. And anyway, I didn't have any new material until I started writing this song about New Orleans.

I doubt this new song about New Orleans will be included.

HejiraNYC 09-08-2006 12:02 PM

Does WEA now own Rhino?? I don't understand the rationale for releasing this under the Rhino imprint when I thought Stevie had signed a 3-album deal with Warner/Reprise some years ago. Does this count as one of the albums under her contract?

Regardless, I don't really see the logic in cobbling together yet another "best of" package, especially since she's only released one studio album since "Enchanted." And she had only released one studio album after "Timespace" before "Enchanted." And considering that every "casual fan" probably already has "Timespace," will a few TISL tracks be enough of a lure to buy this new set? The only way I can see this working is if she threw in some of her rare collaborations such as "Magnet and Steel," "Insider," "Lay Down Your Arms," "Mohammed's Radio," "Dreams (Deep Dish)," etc. But with the exception of "M&S" and "Dreams," these are a bit obscure to be included on a "Best Of" compilation. Plus obtaining the rights to release these is probably not exactly simple. Oh, and what about including one or two orchestral numbers from Melbourne? Or some dance remixes?

Anyway... I'm going to be pessimistic. This is going to be a last-minute, half-a$$ed effort produced by the label and released in time for the Christmas holiday season. If this involved any thought or input from Stevie, I'm sure she would have given the collection an original name like "Timespace" or "Enchanted." And we all know she's been too busy touring Australia, touring with Tom Petty, etc. to really do this properly.

I would think so. The Warner Music Group (WMG) is the parent company that owns everything, including Rhino. WEA (Warner-Elektra-Atlantic) is part of the Warner Music Group and primarily handles international distribution.

I wouldn't expect anything new. But who knows. I'd expect something like The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac, which Rhino put out. So maybe there will be single or alternate versions of some songs.

The holiday season is exactly why this retrospective is being released. Greatest hits packages are quick and easy money makers, requiring few resources from the label or the artist. It sounds like Warner wanted to release this CD when Stevie was touring in Australia, but obviously that fell through. The release of Lindsey's new solo album gives them the perfect excuse/opportunity to issue something for Stevie's as well to maximize sales.

UnwindedDreams 09-08-2006 12:41 PM

I think she'll throw Sorcerer, Everyday, and POTU on it. She should call it like Timespace II or GH II something that's a follow up from Timespace. She should also throw in an exclusive melbourne symphony performance of sorcerer or fall from grace...no wait, Rock and Roll. And release it as a single:laugh: I think she should do a somewhat short summer tour. And a Leno taping:laugh:

EveryHour 09-08-2006 02:12 PM

Shouldn't this Fall/Winter instead bring the release of a Bella Donna 25th Anniversary remaster with a bonus outtakes CD????????!!!!!!!!!!

RockALittle250 09-08-2006 02:28 PM

Of coarse it will have new photos...when does Stevie not do photos?! (in reference to her prob. being the most photographed woman around  ) As for some new songs...I'm sure she'll put 2 or 3 new songs on the album and spice it up a little bit...you know how she rolls lol.

JazmenFlowers 09-08-2006 02:30 PM

if this is, in fact, to be released by Rhino, don't expect much. most of the greatest hit compilations I've seen by them just use a stock photo, very little packaging and so-so tracklist, usually only 9 or 10 tracks.

On Stevie-Nicks.info, it said that after being delayed a couple of times, The Best Of will finally be released, meaning maybe Stevie did some new songs/press photos for it in the meantime...

Exactly.
Plus, "best of" packages are an excellent and inexpensive way to reinvigorate sales for an artist's back catalog.

Given that it's been almost an entire year since Stevie first mentioned this release and the fact that she didn't have time to record anything new for it, it is possible that she's since done so. I'm not holding my breath for that, mind you, but it is possible.

(Myself, I would be thrilled if we were graced with a recording of "Circle Dance," whether live or in the studio.)

nightbird89 09-08-2006 03:04 PM

YES! She FINALLY realeased something. Even if it's no new songs, it's SOMETHING!

DavidMn 09-08-2006 03:34 PM

Desert Angel better be on it!

SpyNote 09-08-2006 03:45 PM

I think we should try to get her a high debut on the charts, as we had done for TISL. :woohoo:

It's a Grammy-nominated song... it should be on there.

If we're looking at a basic, no-frills set, my money would be on something similar to this....

1. Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
2. Leather And Lace
3. Edge Of Seventeen
4. Stand Back
5. If Anyone Falls
6. Nightbird
7. Talk To Me
8. I Can't Wait
9. Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You
10. Rooms On Fire
11. Whole Lotta Trouble
12. Maybe Love
13. Blue Denim
14. Twisted
15. If You Ever Did Believe
16. Every Day
17. Planets Of The Universe
18. Sorcerer

If they include "Planets of the Universe", do you think it will be the Tracy Young remix, since that was the #1 and the Grammy Nominated version?

Do you think that they will include "Sometimes its A Bitch"? It was a single, and Stevie probably isn't personally having anything to do with compiling the release......

Sahara 09-08-2006 04:22 PM

In the absence of any new tracks (and even if there _are_ one or two there) -- for feck's sake, we don't _need_ another best of!!!

Come on.... ugh!

while I agree with you, you may not consider how effective GH compilations are for boosting artists in several ways. I know I have become huge fans of people after buying a GH package. granted, we already have what 2...3...for Stevie so this may be overkill, but never doubt the advantages.

Macfanforever 09-08-2006 04:26 PM

Rhino , Thats the oldies cd label, they produced those Billboard hits of the year
and greatest hits of an artist, they are the equivalent of Ktel records from the 70's.will my Timespace cd is will shot now, it's time to upgrade now.

*shrugs* Very true I guess!!

Certainly if it brings on a Europe tour I'll need a fork to eat my words. ;)
