What is your favorite non-Lindsey Fleetwood Mac lineup?

I like Lindsey works a lot, so don't misunderstood me.. this is just for fun or to know your other fmac preferences.. which one is your favorite non-Rumours/non-SayYouWill lineup??

I would say mine is the Behind the mask lineup, since I liked Rick Vito a lot, and Stevie was still there, though it wasn't the best of her collaborations. Never been that much into the Bob era.. though I liked Bare Trees.. and about the blues years.. I liked the songs in the Chain boxset, but never wanted to buy an album from that era.

So I guess BTM is the lineup I liked more, besides the Rumours one.

Why did I post this in the Rumours forum? Frankly my der I don't know!! :)

foxyluva 09-05-2006 06:21 PM

"Behind the Mask" for me as well :) Although I love the Bob Welch era as well, but I like the 1988-1991 era more because Stevie was involved....

DavidMn 09-05-2006 06:22 PM

Mine would probably be the one that was on Future Games.

wondergirl9847 09-05-2006 06:26 PM

My fave...

Any line-up with Danny in it is A-OK with me. I love the Future Games and Bare Trees eras, but the Then Play On era is spectacular too.

Yes, no one could forget Mr Green.

We're considering the source...

shackin'up 09-06-2006 05:06 AM

The Then Play On line-up.

Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwan, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood. Christine Perfect.

macfan 57 09-06-2006 05:33 AM

1. Mystery To Me line-up
2. Heroes Are Hard To Find line-up

(anything with Christine & Bob Welch)

nicepace 09-06-2006 07:03 AM

The five line-ups featuring Bob Welch are my favorite of ALL Fleetwood Mac line-ups, not just my favorite of all non-Buckingham line-ups. I'll pick the Mystery To Me line-up as my absolute favorite.

-Joanne (fan since 1974)

JazmenFlowers 09-06-2006 08:35 AM

what's Fleetwood Mac without Stevie? that's like a d*ck with no balls. I mean, it functions, but there's no source of spunk.

ok, calm down, just kidding.

if I had to choose, I'd say Behind the Mask.

I really love all the band incarnations from Kiln House to Heroes Are Hard to Find. All of those albums are gems to me...and it's been great to finally hear the various bootlegs from those eras...lots of rare songs and non-album tracks!!! Though Penguin has some great songs on it, David Walker was such an egregious misstep!

The Future Games/Bare Trees band is, in my opinion, one of the best incarnations. At least they had the consistency and stability to eek out two albums together.

Mystery To Me is probably the strongest album of the six. What irks me most about this period is that, to my knowledge, they cut the tour short because of the drama of Bob Weston sleeping with Mick's wife. Perhaps this is why there seems to be no documentation i.e. bootlegs from this band. The irony of that is, with such a strong album and line-up, I'm sure they must have turned out some amazing live performances. Alas, will we ever hear them? Who's keeping these shows unwrapped???

BlackWidow 09-06-2006 08:47 PM

Behind The Mask

strandinthewind 09-06-2006 08:56 PM

Why

Followed closely by Albatross.

Mari 09-07-2006 09:48 AM

Definitely the Then Play On-line up for me. Been listening to that one more than the Rumours-line up, lately.

Well, there are little snippets of things floating around:

Two songs they performed on the TV show Midnight Special ("Believe Me" & "Miles Away")...and on Bob Welch's own site, he has posted the MTM incarnation's live version of "Black Magic Woman".

gldstwmn 09-07-2006 12:12 PM

The Behind The Mask incarnation. :)

me, too.

I'd like to say the bare trees/future gams lineup, but I sense that version of the band, no mater how potentially great it was, never accomplished what it could have.

Bare Trees/MTM lineup

I agree. But Danny was just too much of a loose cannon banging around. His departure was inevitable, IMO.
