Hair Proof

It's been said that mature women should not have long hair.
Stevie is a mature woman.
Stevie has long hair.
Thusly, Stevie should cut her hair.

Agree or disagree?

(yes, I'm bored)

michelle2677 08-30-2006 01:44 PM

DISAGREE!!!

That would be very traumatic for me.

I don't think this applies to celebrities. ;)

ELIUD 08-30-2006 02:28 PM

Who said that in the first place?
Some women look great at any age with shorter hair and others look better with long hair. They should just wear it however the hell they want.

Men on the other hand should keep it cropped short thus avoiding the need of girly hair products.

What if the man happens to like girly hair products?

I disagree. I think the female artists that have had a particular look associated with them for years would do more harm then good changing their signature look. That long golden hair has been a signature Stevie thing for a long time now. It would be wierd to see her without it. Plus, the twirls would never be the same.

One word - CHER

DrummerDeanna 08-30-2006 02:50 PM

I've actually thought about this before

I mean when she gets OLD..I mean old...her hair won't look so good long. I mean really - how many elderly do you see with long hair? And when you do - it generally doesn't look so good :distress:

BUT I can't picture Stevie with a Blanche Devereaux cut either...so I don't know....

TOTALLY AGREE and that is ridiculous!

sparky 08-30-2006 03:08 PM

She'll probably have to cut it eventually. Cher is one of the only exceptions to the old lady long hair rule, and considering the mannequin face she has created, she kind of gets away with it. She's not a normal person. I think in 5 or 6 years, Stevie is going to look much older than she does now, and the long hair is going to look a little silly. If a woman has any of the telltale aging signs - jowls, turkey neck, etc, the long hair really accentuates them. But, who knows ? Her look has always defied convention anyway. And she may get some more work done. It'll be interesting to see.

SpyNote 08-30-2006 03:31 PM

This kind of gives you an idea of what Stevie short hair might look like. Of course, in this picture, her hair is tucked into the coat.

Stevie's current style hacked down to a chin bob would resemble something like this:

Of course...if anyone has time of their hands...
they could produce a few samples for our review!!!!

ELIUD 08-30-2006 04:25 PM

There are a whole bunch of really old ladies that have long hair - they just keep it in a bun or do really big hairdos or braids. Stevie's more likely to be one of those types of ladies than cave in to the pressure of those who insist she cut her hair. Seriously, one bad short hair cut and BOOM - it's dyke city.

Hmmm... Stevie with short hair? I can't even picture it. Nah... I think she should stick with the long hair for as long as she wants, just mess it up a bit! Plus it makes her look and appear younger.

Personaly I love long hair on any lady, and any hair color.Stevie probably still be
attractive with short hair, as long she stay away with the short curly granny look,Shanae O'connor or the Anne Lennoxx look , she will be fine.

markolas 08-30-2006 06:49 PM

Well, she's had shorter hair before, so I don't really get what the big deal is. At any rate, she needs to do something with it, for damn sure. She's had the same long, stringy hairdo for at least 10 years. But I don't think she'll ever change it. Or release a new album. But it's okay, I'm over it (mostly).

Red 08-30-2006 07:34 PM

She really rocks the blonde-goddess long hair and should therefore keep it.

SpyNote 08-30-2006 07:42 PM

OMG  Peter, you should publish a coffee table book of your Stevie works of art. :woohoo:

Hey, Meryl's only one year younger than Stevie.

GODDESS6 08-30-2006 08:31 PM

i prefer stevie w/ her long lucious hair, but i do think she has the type of face that a shoulder length "do" would look hot on too!!! ~

I'm agreeing with the shoulder length. I think Stevie would look insanely silly with a short haircut-- I can't even picture it!! Shoulder length would so flatter her face.

sammigold 08-30-2006 08:50 PM

I think she should keep it long for as long as she can! I think she will know when she can no longer get away with it....

It looks pretty good the way macman did that but I think it emphasises her nose a little too much!

This is too funny. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this. Very good work. Seems kind of odd, but Stevie I think would look older if she had short hair. I know it is up to her, but hope she keeps it long. She can always put it up if she wants a more sophisticated hairdo.

I agree, the twirls would not be the same without that flowing hair or when she rocks out, how it gets messed up, but still looks good.

 no way!! stevie definitely looks better with below the shoulder length hair, her face is too long to go any shorter.

UndoingTheLaces 08-31-2006 01:28 AM

I love Stevie's long hair but if she's going to do anything with it, I'd suggest something like what Diane Keaton has been doing. She looks young and vibrant dispite her actual age and I think if Stevie was going to go shorter, this would be a great look for her.

My hair is longer than probably almost every guy on here, and NO (!!!) I don't use any damned girly hair products.

Cropped hair on me makes me look like Paul McCartney, And I grew tired of hearing that crap as a kid.

As for Stevie with that cropped hair (that MacMan created-Good job), She looks good...BUT, she looks like a blonde version of my ex-fiancee, That would haunt me, severely!!!

JazmenFlowers 08-31-2006 09:05 AM

MacMan - that's hilarious. not a bad look for Stevie (if she was a megabitch editor or business woman), but it just ain't Stevie Nicks, queen of rock. I think she needs some hairapy (hair+therapy) to cut some of the dead ends, etc., but I would die of grieving if she cut it off.

jean-mariecowl 08-31-2006 10:33 AM

long hair

ill tell you all something. i had hair down to my butt. and i started gettin headaches. and i was told by my hairdresser, if you have very thick hair, the top hair from the weight will cause severe splittage. so sometimes its nice to have the long hair he said if you layer the sides and the top. like stevie's old styles.

I should have excluded hippies from my comment. Anyway...that pic of Stevie Streep is GORGEOUS but like Jazzy - I don't think it's very Stevie. She's not just a 60 year old with a head of hair, she's a rock icon and a goddess.

I LOVE Diane Keaton's hair in those pictures. It suits her so well. I wish Stevie would do SOMETHING with her hair--maybe not cut it short, but layer it, curl it, condition it at least. Long hair suits her personality, but the styles she's had post Dance have really not made her look as good as she could. The messier and less straight her hair is, the better.

Maybe something like this would work:

Nope, I could never be considered or confused as a hippie...But a metalhead?? Yeah...

Absolutely. I remember someone suggested a bob cut for Stevie and I nearly snorted my Pepsi in disgust. I had a bob until I was nine, and hated it, and I've been growing it ever since and it's to my waist now .... apart from that, I really don't think short hair would suit her. At all.
Stevie's never been one to follow conventional ideas ... she's not like other people, after all, she does what she wants to....
