what a list -
how many madonna albums are there ? how many in that list ? - you gotta be kidding me right?? - i didn't realize what an incredible talent she is - i had been thinking for years that she is nothing but a musical "show" as opposed to someone with actual real musical abilities - i always thought she was a talented show woman who could dance and sing along to tracks of herself singing but who's real talent was putting her self in the public eye - but i never considered her a musician - but faced with these poll results i throw in the towel madonna must be god!!!! (i feel dirty even pretending to mean that) and yet there is only one fleetwood mac album from all the incarnations of the band? and this poll was in england?? - ok ok - i am biased - i found this segment of the poll pretty funny for some reason - 40. Bad - Michael Jackson 39. Harvest - Neil Young 38. Parachutes - Coldplay 37. Confessions On A Dancefloor - Madonna 36. A Hard Day's Night - Beatles 35. Like A Prayer - Madonna ???? the beatles surrounded by the madonna - doesn't that say alot about music now??? a hard days night indeed - but on the plus side - Harvest is one better than Bad - Bad??? - have these people listened to that album lately?? whew -= PU how about the spice girls listed ahead of the Stones Stickyfingers - i had no idea - i guess i need to hit ebay and start finding me some spice girl used cds love the fact that blondies parallel lines made the top 20 dylan is almost non-existent ( 1album??) interesting glimpse of what they think of american artists - besides the aforementioned annointing of madonna : lots of michael jackson --erh - i mean - to much michael jackson one red hot chilis - "by the way" - interesting one of theirs to pick alanis? yah good album but no. 16? no emmylou no petty no dead no eagles no parsons no van morrison ( i know not an american ) and thats just ones off the top of my head that seem to fit into the "genre" this station must be catering to. OOOPS - Edited HERE OK OK - I didn't understand that the albums had to go to #1 to be considered for the list - of course this new info (new to me anyway) opens a whole new can of comments - lol i guess i want to see the list of albums that have gone to number one over the years on their charts - |

Peestie - HMV in London is running a campaign called 1001 albums you must hear before you die. They have a display of the biggest albums from each decade. Rumours represents the seventies. It was in the top 75 for 477 weeks ! It hung around the lower reaches of the top 100 for several years after that. I recall a radio presenter mentioning it was the longest running record ever in the UK chart. I'm sure if we checked it's probably still clinging on at number 99! |
