Christine's first Fleetwood Mac tour

36 years ago, Christine was on her first tour as a member of Fleetwood Mac. Here are a few tracks & an interview from this tour, probably the first week of the tour.

This is a fairly short, informal backstage interview with a fan after the 8/6/70 show in San Francisco. She has some pretty funny things to say about Stan Webb & Chicken Shack.

This is "I'd Rather Go Blind" from the 8/7/70 show, also in San Francisco.

This is "Spare Me A Little Of Your Love" also from the 8/7/70 show. This is a very early version of the song, with a much blusier arrangement than later on.

Mary Anne, The Spare Me link, is coming up as I'd Rather Go Blind, also.

Thanks!

Great stuff! Thanks Mary Anne!

Sounds as if she is playing a Rhodes on "Go Blind." Are there just two chords to that song? A & Bm7?

I'm not sure about the chords, but she is definitely playing the Rhodes Electric Piano. If you listen to the Kiln House bootlegs & the Madison Blues box set, you can hear that's all she played on that tour. There's no organ, grand piano...just the soft Rhodes piano. I love her keyboard playing on that tour.

How weird. I didn't know that. Why did she play the Rhodes & not the Hohner?

That I don't know. I don't have any pictures of her playing on that tour, but I always just assumed that it was the Rhodes piano because it was so soft. Here are a few pictures of her playing on the BBC just after the Kiln House tour ended.

Tell him no, Mary Anne. He's jet-setting around the world, and still expects to be waited on hand and foot!

My favorite part of that interview were the things she said about Stan Webb...that he was ugly & looked like a chicken.

Mary Anne, you rock. These posts are great. I've heard the music ones and am still downloading the interview. Where do you come up with this stuff? :-)

I used to have one of those. If the thing went out of tune, you had to "tune" it by adding (or removing) the amount of solder on the connection to the key. TOOK FRIGGIN' FOREVER. So, I'd just make everyone in the band tune to the keyboard instead of a electronic tuner.

Probably, at one point  ...other times it might've been A-437. It kind of would depend on the atmospheric conditions of whatever club we were playing.

About a year ago, someone posted that interview in the Pre-Rumours forum. Hardly anyone replied in that thread. So I thought there might be a few people here who didn't have it but would like to hear it. I got the two live tracks as part of a show in a trade. That's where I've gotten most of my stuff.

I'm glad you like it.:)

I'm not sure that's correct. Jeremy Spencer's in the pictures.

fmfanatic 08-21-2006 08:48 PM

Hey, thanks, Mary Anne!!! I'm downloading them now as I type this!

Andrea :)

The BBC performance was in Nov. 1970. Jeremy was still in the band at that time. The tracks are on the Madison Blues box set.
