That style is straight out of the Hurell/Gibbons/etc. era of the 20's - 40's movie stills.

Macfanforever 08-11-2006 04:48 PM

Wow Nice job cleaning it up.looks dated back to my grandmothers time.

goldustsongbird 08-11-2006 05:22 PM

*whistle* Wow.

Personally, it is my least favorite of the pictures that George Hurrell took of Stevie. I like these better.

According to Wikipedia, "He officially retired in 1976 but would still take photographs if he was particularly interested in the subject." That's our girl, bringing a renowned photographer out of retirement.

It is indeed.

Quite stunning -- thanks so much!

sweeeeeeet!!!~ i am the high bidder on this right now, but i know i am gonna get taken down like a bitch in the night:nod: :distress:  ~

I don't like all that posed movie-still **** with Stevie in it. I like Stevie in a leotard & boots onstage in 1978, singing Gold Dust Woman or Blue Letter. In my mind, Stevie isn't Rita Hayworth. She's Stevie Nicks. She's a hippie rock star in a gigaband.

Poor Chris...She always looked like a Drag Queen

 HEY! She did not... I think she looks nice in these pictures. Well, the second one. The first one, she looks like she's ready to burst into tears and her face looks kinda square-ish. The shot Hurrell took of just her alone is good, too.

Yeah, for me she looks alot better (and comfortable) when she's a little on the plain side - it suits her better. Not the glam shots, and not these, she looks a little stiff - so does Stevie frankly in some of them. Doesn't really go along with the mental image of what you would think either of them would be.

She is so air brushed in second photo. She looks better now after her facelift...

bikerchic 08-11-2006 08:46 PM

MacMan, I love your movie poster of Stevie and Lindsey. Lindsey must see this! I think he would get such a kick out of it!

BombaySapphire3 08-11-2006 09:56 PM

I agree with David ,being a huge classice film fan I think Hurrell's portrait photography was for 1930s film godesses not 1970s rock stars.Just look at some of his work with Garbo and Crawford as his subjects they were made for him .He made Crawford look like an art deco object.

JazmenFlowers 08-11-2006 10:42 PM

well I think Stevie is about as good a subject as you can get. great proportions, classic features and an undeniable presence that permeates photos.

pattymarkle 08-12-2006 01:29 PM

WOW! You guys posted some great pics of Stevie. I had to pick just one, I would go with the second photo with the red hue. Beautiful! I am so glad they are allowing camers at concerts now. They can't take away your cell phone so anyone can get a shot if they try hard enough.

One day, when I have a zillion dollars, I'm going to go buy me the best digital camera I can find. The pictures you guys got are wonderful. I found out that Brian May from Queen loves to chat online with his fans and they send him picstures they took at concerts and he posts them up on his website.

Maybe our Rock Gods and Goddesses will start playing around a little more on the internet.

I'm not a fan of the first pic with Chris, she's much more attractive than the photo represents. The second is much better.

All of these are gorgeous, btw, thanks to all who are sharing.
