acoustic lindsey: sounds like this?

Sometimes new music is so close to my hero, that it's frightening. What do you think?

Not bad Gerald.:)

I only listened to the first one so far, but I really like that. Cool song, and sounds ALOT like Lindsey at the start.

Thanks :)

I listened! I listened! I even sent the first one to my friend Joe, the bassist for the Justen Fox Band!

Mari 08-10-2006 11:46 AM

Not only did I listen, I also uploaded it to my mp3 player. And tried, unsuccesfully, to find some more songs on soulseek. So there. I do appreciate it. Bedankt:cool:

I knew that. You're part of some. So Is mari. I can always count on her.

If that group says they're not influenced by Lindsey, they're lying.

wondergirl9847 08-10-2006 03:00 PM

Totally...

Inspired by Lindsey, fo sho. Not only in that country-ish, folky sound, but the way the guy is singing....and the scream at the end.

Thanks for sharing these songs. I like them a lot! :)

Edited to add: I just looked up Elliott Brood on ITunes and there are two albums available for download.

Downloaded them both and added them to the mp3 player  I think I'll be looking into more stuff, buy an album or 2. Thanks for posting these :D

Ok Gerald, since you wanted me to keep on speculating, I will. I think Brood's tracks might give some hint of where Lindsey is going to, but personally I would like him to follow this route:

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...5E848125AF2F7E

It has all the whiney qualities and all the childishness Lindsey is criticised for, but also that epic sweep of a "D. W. Suite".

My god, Gaius I laughed so hard I cried. I like the experimental side of this but damnit, this lacks every sense of musicality. Sounds like a finnish way-to-early-maried couple trying to come but do not succeed.

shackin'up 08-27-2006 03:07 PM

I relistened today. Still the same: verrrry funny, where did you find this? Ever saw them live?

face of glass 08-28-2006 10:13 AM

I got it from a Finnish underground compilation with many equally weird tracks. Here's what the liner notes say about Super Ladex:

Quote:

This perplexing collage of noise was made by 19-year-old Jussi Soininen with his 6-year-old sister and 10-year-old brother from Leppävirta in Eastern Finland. Inspired by the Do-It-Yourself idea of punk, they gathered around a radio/cassette player, picked up "lyrics" from stuff lying around the house, such as turpentine-can labels, T-shirts or comics, and clattered with whatever they could grab. The name of the group itself was taken from a paint-can label.
