Bad Storm Last night
o.k. since everyone has been discussing how the ledge has been dead lately-I'll add my 2 cents. Last night we had a horrible storm that left 35,000 of the nearly 40,000 residents without power (INCLUDING ME!!) Trees are down everywhere-several landed on people's cars as they were driving them. mmMMmmmm!! Good ol' Ohio valley. Approximately 10 minutes before our power went out, I thought to myself "hmmm..I better turn my computer off. I would hate to lose all of my music, etc." So relief for that, BUT!!! to add to the trauma-I dropped my cell phone in the toilet. Yes. Nothing better than reaching in barehanded to the place where you do your dirtiest business. I guess I thought the faster I reached in there, the less drenched it would get. Wrong. So I got to wait 2 hours last night for a new phone. And of course there is not a full charge on the new one. And no electricity to charge it up. I'm at the library crying the blues-so there :) my addition to the loneliness that has been the ledge. But I have more to come :)

BUT, here's my point.....Rednecks all around here say VERILY, in place of f*cking BARELY!!!!!!!!!! "I verily made it". This drives me completely f*cking nuts!!! The word is BARELY, you dumb hick!!!! Of course I don't tell them that, but they INSTANTLY go into the mental midget category, on the Rolodex that I keep in my head.;) Irishgirl, why'd you type verily??? Enquiring (bored) minds want to know! |
thanks for everyone's concern. We had 90 mph winds here, and we are still trying to clean up. No deaths that we know of. I think a tornado hit out in the county.

You can get internet in prison, right?? because I literally came l l <---- that close to taking a few people out. |

I swear, 50% of the people around here say VERILY, instead of BARELY. I cringe to my inner depths, everytime I hear it. "I VERILY made it". "That lid VERILY covers it". Grrrrrrr......dumbasses.:distress: |
We had a really bad storm last night (Saturday) and lost our power for several hours. I was on the computer when it happened and I was JUST thinking myself that I might want some popcorn...:distress:
So anyway, my husband, step-son, and I sat around in candlelight (the twelve year old had such fun lighting candles) and told ghost stories. Then, we got bored with that and played "I Spy". Then *I* got REALLY bored with that and went to bed. The power came on about 30 minutes after that, so I'm told. Michelle- sorry about your cell phone. I dropped mine in one of the sinks at work- immediately pulled it out and then immediately pulled the battery out and tried to dry it off too. The phone acted f*cked up for several days, and I thought I would have to get a new one but it seems to be acting better lately. |

What a mess! |
We had a little lightning and thunder in LA this morning...no crazy storm or even rain, but for we Left Coasties who rarely get the pleasure, it was nice.
Yeah, our thunder storms are as threatening as Romper Room... |

Bloomington is an oasis, in the middle of redneck heaven. |
Crazy storms around Philly earlier this week as well, leaving amost 400,000 people without power! Lightning struck a tree in my bosses backyard! We were lucky, not losing power at all, but I think into this weekend they were still trying to get people's power turned on.

I've heard the rednecks abuse this word for so long, I've developed some sort of internal "aural blocking" technology, when I hear it! I literally cringe when I hear it. |

Seriously, Bloomington is a great town. An oasis. Go 30 miles in any direction, and it's scary! "We don't need no stinkin' teeth! |

Wow...yeah, I'm sort of generally frightened of the mid-west :sorry: |

I can PM you her #, if you happen to want it. The rural midwest doesn't have any worse than getting into the bad neighborhoods in a city. Both can be very scary. |
Quote:
Nah - I have her info but thanks :D And Maria, you're right - I'm totally stereotyping - I know there are some great people and places in the midwest - but man - when my sister and I traveled through there recently...yikes. yikes. of course - we stayed on I-80 I think so...didn't really venture around. Now - do you guys have Culver's in Indiana--Butterburgers? Oh. My. God. SOOO good - and they sound healthy, don't they? :p |
Quote:
Yes, we have Culver's... I love this place. I absolutely love their burgers! They're a little expensive for a burger joint, though. |
