Has anyone seen this before?

I came across this clip in my travels on the net. I've never seen it before. Does anyone know if more exists? From The Penguin archives I'm guessing it's one of these dates:
June 1 Munich, Germany Olympic Horse Riding Stadium
June 3 Bremen, Germany Stadhalle
June 4 Cologne, Germany Sportshalle
June 8 Frankfurt, Germany Bertzenbrug Stadium
June 9 Zurich, Germany Hallenstadion Zurich

Yeah, that's all I've ever seen is just that clip of "Don't Stop." I figured the whole show (or a lot of it) had been shown on German TV. It was part of those European TV Reels that circulated in the 1980s from the bootlegger in Pacific Palisades. I always assumed it was the big outdoor show at Munich. It's not the Cologne show because we have that on cassette & the two don't match.

A long time ago on the ledge, I put out the word to the European ledgies to try to track down the rest of this TV footage. But they told me to eat **** & die.

Maybe there are some nicer ones out there now. In the left hand corner of that clip it says " 3 Sat." Could it mean that it was the June 3 Bremen show?

I think "3 Sat" must be a TV network in Germany. I have some Bonnie Tyler footage with the same logo in the corner.

See thread on seeking SYW versions.

Ive seen The Chain floating on WinMX too....Its out there. I believe my friend has both on a compilation tape, but don't quote me.

Houseonthehill 07-22-2006 04:11 PM

That was one of the most amazing Tusk tour clips I have seen. Thank you so much for sharing

I would do anything for the full concert of that tour.

PenguinHead 07-22-2006 05:05 PM

 Wow! That is an amazing clip...for various reasons. I can't believe the full broadcast has never been circulated!!???. It's the DVD concert that never was, and the one true fans deserve. First off, it's so rare to see them perform in daylight at an outdoor show! Secondly, they seem to be in peak performance --energetic and raw. Also, it's nice to see shots the audience dancing, partying...very Woodstock-ish. Lastly, it's so rare to them filmed like that; production-wise it's reminiscent of some great old concert documentaries that existed prior to the MTV generation, with no cheesy, pandering close up shots of some parent mouthing the lyrics with their 6 year kid.

Yes, it is. I could email them and ask about this footage. I remember a long time ago I sent them a letter about a Jim Morrison special they aired somewhere in the early 90's, and whether they could possibly air it again, and they did. It was on a Wednesday at 4 in the morning or something, but at least I could tape it.

This network has also aired a lot of the Montreux performances, but no Stevie yet.

I will email them now. :)

danax6 07-22-2006 08:58 PM

Btw, if you ask me, it was the June 8, 1980 show in the Betzenberg Stadion in Kaiserslautern, because that was part of the Open Air Festival, and it's definitely festival footage.

The Catdancer 07-22-2006 09:03 PM

I have audio but no video

Never mind, fixed it!!! Awesome clip!!! Thanks for posting.

That first shot of Chris in the hat is out of sync with the action onstage. It's intercut. She's not really there at that moment. Also, Jimmy, a "Chain" for this? I never saw a "Chain" for this.

That's right, how weird is that? The camera is on Lindsey pretty much the entire time, they don't even cut to Christine during her singing parts. It's like she's not there, except for that first little bit. Maybe that part was filmed during the soundcheck.

I swear I remember talking to two people about this footage. Both have told me that Don't Stop and the Chain exists. Also whenever I searched the Mac on Winmx it came up as The Chain (1980). I always assumed it was from the Tusk Doc, but I don't think considering The Chain and Don't Stop were posted together in the same format. Ill do some researching.

Vanessa...Thanks for emailing them. I wonder if we could get the Stevie stuff up from the fest too?

I noticed that too. I was waiting for a close up during her vocal & piano solo and the camera just kept focused on Lindsey, unfortunately. Also, there was a long shot of the band just as the song started & you can barely see Chris at her piano & all I see is her blonde hair. She looks very cool in that hat in the early shot though.

I LOVE how they did "Don't Stop" on the Tusk tour(& Mirage tour too).

Could be. Whatever it was, it wasn't filmed during either performance or soundcheck of "Don't Stop" because Chris is standing in front of her electronic.

Is it just me, or is the video getting somewhat corrupted towards the end. I have tried it on two different computers with the same result. Is everyone using Windows Media to play it?

During the second half of the clip, it stops & then starts again a number of times. I'm using Real Player. I didn't even know you could play it on Windows Media Player.

Yes. It works fine for me.

I just watched it again. I was able to download 75% on Limewire but somehow the entire clip is posted in the yousendit link. That could explain for the start and stops. Weird. The 75% clip on my hard drive plays fine.

Oops! Sorry it took me so long to respond, Amber. :o

I have an 8-hour tape of various Bonnie Tyler videos and TV appearances over the years... mainly stuff from German TV... but it gets a bit repetitive after a while. She'd do the rounds on various music & variety shows, singing or lip-synching whichever single she was promoting at the time... so I have five and six clips (more, in the case of songs like "Total Eclipse" and "It's A Heartache") of many of the songs.
I think the "3 Sat" logo appears on quite a few things, including... if I recall correctly... her performances from the 1986 Montreux Rock Festival.

June 1 Munich, Germany Olympic Horse Riding Stadium
June 3 Bremen, Germany Stadhalle
June 4 Cologne, Germany Sportshalle
June 8 Kaiserslautern, Germany Betzenberg Stadium
June 9 Zürich, Switzerland Hallenstadion Zürich
Just for the information- it must be Kaiserslautern, that`s the Betzenberg Stadium. Otherwise in Frankfurt it`s the Waldstadion/stadium.
And Zürich is not in Germany but in Switzerland.
3 Sat shows a lot of stuff like that from time to time.
I`ll try to get an info from them too. If there is a DVD available- I`ll tell you (not now but then ;)

I get that A LOT. I once asked a fan who recorded one of Stevie's Aussie shows if I could post the audio. She gave me the polite form of eat **** & die.

So Vanessa, did you ever hear anything back from 3sat?

Yup, I had to go through ZDF, because 3sat is a daughter affiliate of them, and you can usually only place direct orders. If you know the date and time something has been broadcast, you can order a copy on VHS or DVD. The problem is, I have no idea when it aired on 3sat. I gave them as many details as possible, like the date and place of the concert, but they told me that doesn't really help them. (Or they are just too lazy to do a little research into their archives.) I am trying to find out when this possibly could have aired.

I will keep bugging them, cause I want it. ;) The thing is, it takes them a loooong time to answer every time, which is very annoying.

Thanks for doing that. Okay Ledgies, everyone rack your brain and try to figure out when this damn thing aired and we may get some kick ass clips and perhaps even an entire concert out of it.
