Steel Magnolias Help
Ok. This is my favorite movie of all time and I can pretty much talk along with the whole damn thing.
But the other day I got into a discussion with someone over Ouisa's dog's name! Is it Rex or Red?? I can't make out in the movie which it is - and I've always thought it was Rex - whereas this fellow I was talking to swears it's Red. My SM confidence has been shaken...anyone know the dog's name? |
I do believe it's Rex, but I'm not 100% either. I'll have to go home and watch it now!
|
Hm. I should have made this a poll ;)
Thanks - so that's two for Rex! |
I think it's Rhett.

Rhett!?! I've never even considered that. Hrm. I've been trying to find out via google, IMDB and the rest of the 'net, I'm just not having very good luck. |
Just watched it again and I'm pretty sure it's neither. Sounds like Rhett to me
|
Hmmm....
I'm 99.9% sure it was Bob.

Well slap me on the ass and call me Judy!
I never even considered that the dog's name would be Rhett - but I did research with that name - and it appears we have a definitive answer. So I was wrong, my friend was wrong....and now my universe is crumbling ;) Seriously - that was the one mystery of this movie for me. Thanks for helping me solve this! |

Mine too!! I have loved it since the first time I saw it, I was in either 4th or 5th grade - and I remember playing Steel Magnolias with my best friend in her playhouse  I always made my friend be Annelle...I think I was Truvy  |
There is no such thing as natural beauty.

Drink your juice, Shelby.

"Malynn (sp?) you just missed a chance of a lifetime. Half of Chinkapin Parish would give their i-teeth to take a whack at Ouisa!"
"You are a pig from hell!" L-O-V-E IT! My junior year of HS I was in the pageant and did the first beauty shop scene for my talent. I was everyone, except Annelle. I cut her out, but she didn't have that many lines anyways. I also took it to Region Literary and got 2nd. (should have gotten 1st  ) |
"...no juice is better..." God I love this movie. "I'm not crazy, M'Lynn, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years!" |
"You are too twisted for color tv. Get your roots done."
|
"Looks like 2 pigs, fightin' under a blanket."

"Well, you were brought up right." :D |
Ouiser: I am just about at the end of my rope with you.
Drum: Well, then why don't you tie a noose and slip it 'round your head? 'Eat **** and die' Clairee: Ouiser, you sound almost chipper what happened today you run over a small child or something? |
I'm gonna have to sit and watch this tonight. I love this movie!
|
"Goddammit Annelle!"
"Did you just take our Lord's name in vain?" "That's the one!" "I think we should pray." "I'd rather eat dirt!" |
Annelle: " ......But Ah promise that mah personal tragedy will NOT interfere with mah ability to do good hair!"
Y'all, you know this is a play, right? Hence the GREAT lines :) In my years of community theatre in Louisiana I lit it twice. It's soooo popular there, you can see performances of it everywhere in community theatre all year round, some better some worse.... It's truly a fantastic play, if you have actors with good timing and delivery :D Sasja |
