What happens today?? THE MAC POLL

This is the last time i try.. is it me or what??

MacMan 07-04-2006 05:38 PM

I picked the Rumours line-up, although I didn't mind the BTM or Time periods so much... but first choice of those three would be Rumours...

foxyluva 07-05-2006 04:15 AM

I was a Stevie fan before I got into the Mac, so I chose that. But if I listen to a FM album, Im not a person to skip everything but Stevie's stuff. But then again, I don't think much of any of the albums that FM made in which Stevie was not involved (I don't like the transitional years 70-74 or the "Time" period of FM. I do however like the Peter Green era :) )

eclipse 07-05-2006 05:47 AM

I took the any -lineup fan vote.
I have been listening to FM since I was 14 and I am now 48...
So I have listened forevah...
It was a bonus to me when they picked up Lindsey and Stevie... I went back and found the BN album (This was back..in the day...) And then, I became a REAL fan of both B and N.
I appreciated more of what they brought to FM-
Now, seems like 100 years later-
Still a FM fan but have become an obsessive Stevie fan...
and looking back over some of her material...I wonder why.

But alas, I am

Gailh 07-05-2006 05:55 AM

Up until a few years ago I considered myself a FM fan whatever the lineup.

But since Christine left there's definately something missing.

If they tour in 2007 I probably wont go unless I have cast iron guarantees that she will be on stage. (she doesn't have to perform she could just do a little twirl)

Fan of just the Rumours line-up, a Stevie Nicks fan and a Lindsey Buckingham fan. :wavey:

JazmenFlowers 07-05-2006 08:50 AM

I'm a Stevie Nicks fan, but I like the band. I hold Christine and Lindsey in high regard and like their music a great deal, but no one comes close to my La Nicks.

jbrownsjr 07-05-2006 11:22 AM

I like any line up. I think Say You Will was a incomplete album with tons of filler. I don't like their live stuff much anymore due to them repeating every note and every talking line in every show for 100 times a year, with worn out voices. I guess I would have to say this line-up now is my least favorite due to sub-par performances. They don't sound too good to my ears currently.

I love those "transitional" years a whole lot. I don't know why. And I wasn't crazy about them in my first years of fanaticism. But in recent years they have taken on a burnished glow, a soft satiny lustre, steeped in the honeyed memory of nostalgia, like that moment in art history when the Barbizon School gave way to the summer sun of Impressionism.

Plus, I now like the actual sound of the band in the early '70s! Maybe it's because it's the style of band I always wanted to be in but never found. To me, "Dragonfly" is the epitome of the style of those years.

That's about the smartest thing you've ever said. ;) :D

I picked any line up because Im a fan all Fleetwood Mac eras. My favorite era is 1973-1980, which includes the best of the Bob Welch years with the best of the Rumours era. I adore the first 3 Rumours era albums, but seriously Mirage and Tango in the Night just aren't that good to these ears. In fact I'd say those 2 albums are my least favorite albums in all of Fleetwood Mac's catologue.

Dark Angel 07-05-2006 01:19 PM

I like almost any lineup of FM, although I'm not a big fan of the 1994 tour lineup, though I do like Bekka. Dave Mason just does nothing for me. Also, the current lineup seems more like a stale version of Buckingham Nicks with backing musicians. I miss Christine badly. :distress:

I put other in the sense that I do enjoy the entire history of Fleetwood Mac, but I lean more towards the newer stuff. Anyone however that neglets pre 1975 Fleetwood Mac material is doing themselves a disservice in my opinion. But everyone has their own tastes.:)

Hey now! Ahh what the heck, I really do enjoy them now, but to each their own.

I like any lineup with Stevie Nicks in it. I don't like anything pre-1975 or 'Time' (the album has it's good points but on the whole, sucks!) I like all the mac stuff from 'Fleetwood Mac' to 'The Chain' boxsett (Paper Doll cheers me up) and then 1997 - present lineup. I am primarily a Stevie Nicks fan.

fan of the Rumours lineup here!!!!

jwd 07-05-2006 07:58 PM

I like the band, but the only one I'm even remotely interested in these days is Stevie. She's the only one who's even close to being an active artist, with maybe the exceptions of Green, Vito, and Burnette.

Miss Vicky 07-05-2006 10:14 PM

I like Fleetwood Mac but I'm mostly a Lindsey and Billy fan.

shackin'up 07-06-2006 09:55 AM

other....

I am a fleetwood mac fan, any line up, except BTM-Time.

Your choices are not mine, but I can relate to the line-ups these songs represent.

estranged4life 07-06-2006 10:25 AM

Hmmm...

I picked other...I am absolutely burned out on Fleetwood Mac, So much so that I have thought about selling my collection off, But for now I will hold onto the collection.

So I think it is safe to say I am not really into the fandom at this moment...

chiliD 07-06-2006 10:26 AM

I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan, have been since they first began back in 1967.

The Rumours lineup is by far my LEAST favorite nowadays...from 1975-80 you couldn't have found a bigger fan of that lineup, but since the end of the Tusk tour, from 1980-1987, they did nothing but dissappoint me (and the whole Dance reunion really pissed me off). Lindsey & Stevie should've just quit after the Tusk tour and let the band carry on with new people...it probably would've been the best for all concerned.

NO WAY! If they left then we'd have no 'Gypsy', 'Big Love', 'Straight Back', 'Seven Wonders' and possibly wouldn't have had some Christine classics like 'Little Lies' or 'Love in Store' because usualy with a mac lineup change comes a style change too. You need your head seeing to mate. Every Post-1974 mac album (with the exception of 'Time') is brilliant. Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, Tusk, Mirage, Tango, BTM and Say You Will are all FANTASTIC! So ssshhuuuuddddaaaapppp!!!

Before I go tell you to go fornicate alone...and then follow that up with some anger management of your own...

What makes you think those songs wouldn't have turned up on their solo albums?? And what makes you think that Christine's tunes wouldn't have been written and recorded with Fleetwood Mac ANYWAY? Sure, with personnel changes the style DOES change, but Christine's songs don't...open your ears to the pre-74 Christine McVie songs...they're generally not a whole lot different than the songs that were hits.

Take the sonic blinders off, dude, maybe you might LEARN something about Fleetwood Mac other than the tripe you've limited yourself to.

It's pretty good for a Buckingham Nicks album. Even Time had more of a Fleetwood Mac vibe to it than SYW.

Villavic 07-06-2006 05:10 PM

I think all serious opinions should be respected. Don't shut up.. peace and love.

I agree 80s mac albums were weakier than the 70s'. But we still got jewels like Gypsy or Everywhere. I don't think BTM and Mirage were that fantastic, but I do find Tango fantastic, the strongest album from the 80s imho (though Stevie's work was not her best).

Oh no.. I don't agree. Yes, they would have turned up but.. Gypsy wouldn't be the same gypsy without Lindsey arrangements. I heard a solo demo and it wasn't that good. Same with Everywhere or 7wonders...

Sure, but, thinking the hypothetical through, wouldn't you think that if they were no longer members of Fleetwood Mac, that after being apart for some period of time, that Lindsey might've worked with her on her albums at some point?

Plus, there wouldn't have BEEN a Mirage or Tango to compare those songs to...in that hypothetical reality, they wouldn't exist.
So, if those songs became songs in the hypothetical reality, they would've been whatever they would've been. You wouldn't know of the alternative.

Also, wouldn't you think that since Stevie wouldn't have had the dual careers to keep up with, that some of her excesses that took a toll on her voice & health might not have happened, as well. Therefore, maybe her material in the '80s might've turned out even that much better than they did.

And, Fleetwood Mac would've carried on and no doubt would've been just as popular as they were. No, they wouldn't have sold Rumours numbers, but, neither did Mirage nor Tango In The Night.
