That scene from GG is classic! Love it. I especially love when Rose tells the girls she used the condoms as water balloons.

I still haven't seen Steel Magnolias ...

Oh, I know. I really need to see it! I was going to get it on Wednesday, but I never got around to it. It'll definitely happen this week, tho. :p

One of my favorite scenes ever from GG is the following :

Blanche hauls out a pair of blue sequined socks she has recently purchased and swings them about for all of the other girls to look at. They are all visibly horrified. She says, "Well, I think they really make a statement !"
Dorothy swiftly and dryly replies, " Yeah, this end up."

 :blob2:

 I just saw that episode. Pretty much anytime Dorothy comes back with a snappy retort I'm in stitches. My favorites are always the Rose, "is she upset because____" Dorothy, "No she's upset because they keep changing the taste of Coke..." or some such line exchanges. LOVE Dorothy.

----

And Carrie - you have GOT to see Steel Magnolias ASAP. Best. Movie. Ever.

LOL - until Miles get shipped off in the witness protection program

I'm still cracking myself up over here over that condom clip...

For years, my sister-in- law and I used the word "manyfolds" to describe people, courtesy of Blanche's fantastic rip on Dorothy, "The manyfolds of your turkey like neck." Just saying that out loud with a southern accent kills me. I can just hear Strandie saying it.:D

Omg, remember the cheeseman episode? It was the dad from Seinfeld! Yeah, wasn't it a two-parter? That was hilarious when Miles comes in with that Amish beard and tells Rose to keep it under wraps, but the first thing she says when the girls come in is, "girls, you remember Miles?"  And like that outfit was even believable in the first place!!

  I'm sure he's said it (or something like it) many times!

 I'm dying over here. Among my favorites:

Dorothy: You'll have to excuse my mother. She suffered a slight stroke a few years ago which rendered her totally annoying.

-------------------

Blanche: I'm wound up tighter than a girdle on a Baptist minister's wife at an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.

-------------------

Blanche: I am abhored.

Sophia: We know what you are Blanche. I'm glad to finally hear you admit it.

Blanche: Sophia, I said abhored.

Sophia: Abhored, a slut, a tramp. It's all the same.

--------------------

Blanche: Since when do you care how you look.

Dorothy: I think it started when I came down from the belltower and had my hump fixed.

You have to see it! Think I might have to dig it out again later....

Ouiser Boudreaux: I am just about at the end of my rope with you.
Drum: Well, then why don't you tie a noose and slip it 'round your head?

Clairee: I've just been to the dedication of the new children's park.
Truvy: Yeah, how did that go?
Clairee: Janice Van Meter got hit with a baseball. It was fabulous.
Truvy: Was she hurt?
Clairee: I doubt it. She got hit in the head.

Gypsy-Rhiannon 06-24-2006 02:05 PM

Hehe....

HAHAHA, that is such a CLASSIC Golden Girls scene! I absolutely love that show, especially Dorothy and Sophia's dry wit. Amongst my favorite quotes...

Rose: You know, your situation reminds me of something that happened in St. Olaf.
Sophia: Please, dust reminds you of something that happened in St. Olaf!

---------

Blanche: Oh Dorothy, I just talked to somebody back home, and they are doing the most horrible thing! They are tearing down the most important building in Blanche Devereaux's family history.
Dorothy: Oh my God, they're tearing down Mattress World!
Blanche: Even worse than that. They are tearing down the place where I spent my happiest moments as a child.
Dorothy: Oh I'm sorry, Blanche. They're tearing down Boys Town.

---------

Dorothy: You know, sometimes I can't believe my ears.
Sophia: I know. I should've taped them back when you were seven.
