This video is chilling
|
Holy. ****. Is that for real???
Oh my god how horrifying :distress: |
OK people, I'm at work, I can't watch, and my home computer is down. What is it?

It's a 911 call from a guy who is apparently on the 105th floor- through most of the call there's a little red thing pinpointing about where he is... The video itself is just an image of one of the towers after it had been struck - so it's all smoky. The guy is on the line with a dispatcher and a firefighter at one point - then there's an "oh my God" and at that point the building starts to come down...it's going to give me freaking nightmares...:distress: |
Thanks for describing it. Now I certainly WON'T watch it!

It's a 911 transcript that has been tied to video. The guy is desperately trying to get someone from the fire department to rescue them. He keeps saying how he doesn't want to die. At the end of this clip, you hear him scream over the phone "Oh, god, oh god!!!" as you watch the top half of the tower where he was located crumble apart and crash to the ground. I don't recommend viewing this. |
Good grief
Why would anyone wanna see this? :(
I'll pass. |
Ok - Tower's description was much more eloquent and right on then mine -either way ya get the gist.
And I concur - I do NOT recomend watching it - I wasn't kidding about the nightmares - it's just something I didn't need to hear/see. |
That might give me nightmares. My chest is tight now just from watching that. Very very disturbing. Oh my god that day was just so sad; it is still unbelievable to me that that happened.
PS if i had read the description first I would not have watched it...... -Lis |
David, can you change your initial post to add a description? I would not have watched that if I had known what it was. I appreciate you posting it, but some people may have a hard time with it.
|
wow, i am speechless:distress: ~
|
Hey David, why'd you post this? I won't be watching it.
|
Remember when hostage Nick Berg(wasn't that his name?) was decapitated? I watched it (like an idiot) on the internet. I was literally ILL the rest of the day.

OMG..I was actually curious about that - the dark side of me I guess - but I never watched it...and I'm so glad I never did - it would have probably haunted me. Someone on MySpace once sent me an amusing picture and a link for a website - so I went and there were HORRID pictures on there (decapitations, shootings etc)...I've never been back but it makes me wonder - stuff like that is out there for someone--who enjoys this stuff??? |

I don't understand how anyone would ever want to look at that stuff. |

Now - this video that David posted isn't in the same realm IMO - but it's sad and disturbing all the same. |
Well, I just watched it. I agree, it's not to be amused all. Actually I KNOW what it felt. Terrorism is not new for me. My place was punished by terror 15 years ago. 1992 was the worst year, and that's when the leader of Shining Path was captured, and then everything starting to get better.
But before that, it was a nightmare. Blackouts anytime, car bombs in shopping centers, attacks in the road, specially in the mountains. Terrorist made a deal with narcotraficants.. everything was a mess. Some regiosn in the country was practically forbidden for tourists and travellers. The worst incident was when they put a car bomb in front of a bank, here in Lima, and in my neighborhood, Miraflores, but they couldn't park in the exact door so they parked in the street near the building, a narrow street so when it exploded the energy concentrated over the buildings and houses in that street. It was tragical. 2 buildings were the most affected, and they were not only offices. People lived there (9pm!) This video makes me recall the scene of a desperate father arriving at the place, screaming for his son, trying to find him. The building was half destroyed (imagine Oklahoma bld.) and the other half in fire. Fortunately he found his son save. My gym teacher wasn't that luck. He appeared on 6th floor shouting for help since his brother was dying... he didn't make it. Ok, I stop here. Just to tell you fellows.. 9/11 was the biggest terrorist attack, but you just had few. After more than 10 years of terrorism in Peru, my generation became.. I don't know what to say. Not prepared nor used to it, because you never are.. but it made us hard, stronger.. I don't know. I really really not wish this to anyone, to any country. Will peace reign some day in the whole planet? |
I often think of the ordinary people just wanting to live their lives but finding themselves in places getting bombed, whether that's London in 1940, Dresden in 1945, New York City in 2001, or Baghdad in 2003. I think like Londoners we need not to dwell publicly so much on the horror and the terrible moments of the past though, because that gives the terrorist what they most want. Somehow you have to keep going on despite violence and not be driven into panic or over reaction. They change you they win. Attacking all Arabs/Persians or Muslims and they win again. Or all Germans or all any group.

I know that it is important never to forget this tragedy and how Bush basically turned a blind eye to it (hello Iraq!) but yet I can't help but feel footage like this is out there for mainly sensationalist reasons and shouldn't be viewed. But like I said, 9/11 should never be forgotten and those who died should be memorialized. I dunno, there's gotta be a better way. |
I cant even imagine what he was thinking.:distress:

Whoever is/was behind the WTC mess wants people to react based on the horror. Personally, I think WTC was designed by the neo-cons to enable them to invade Iraq and get away with all the **** they've pulled in the last five years. |

I remember how offended I was stumbling onto still photos of the people who had jumped on Yahoo news. I never went back there either. It is an invasion of privacy in sone way, and yet for those who feel a need to know it should be available even if it means some sick and moronic people might also get some insane enjoyment from such things.
I have enough of an imagination I know I don't need to hear tapes or see film past what I saw the day it happened. It probably sounds shallow, but darn it, I wanted to see those buildings in person someday! They were great buildings regardless of their business purpose. What a society and what a city that could build those. If the Space Needle or CN tower fell over I would miss them too, but at least I got to see those in person. The twin towers stood for so lon g after what happened to them, they even fell in a way that would cause the least harm, because imagine if they had toppled sideways, it would have been thirty or forty blocks of carnage and fires. It could have been so much worse. If only there were parachutes or hang gliders on every floor, etc. etc., but it could have been ten times worse. |

Let's quit talking about it(at least I am). It really bothers me remembering it. |

I had heard the audio before, but it is much more upsetting to see it matched with the video.
This is terrible, just like the videos of the people jumping to their deaths from the towers. I also saw the Berg decapitation video, and that was one of the worst things I have EVER seen. It did make me sick to my stomach for several hours. It was terrifying . . . the screaming . . . |
I would watch this...
but I'll pass.
I have heard & seen enough 911 footage to know the end result...Listening to someones last moments in this existence is hard, But watching 'em fall/jump to their end is impossible for me. Kinda of related to 911-But every NYC firefighter (About 6 of the NYC finest) who arrived in OKC immediately after the Murrah Building attack, To offer help in search/rescue of the victims here, died on 9-1-1. |

as horrible as that video is, Im glad I saw it. time's passage has a way of making people complacent. We should NEVER forget, precisely because it IS horrible. IMO, there isnt a Hell HOT enough for the evil people that did this.
Karma that bad would take a millenium to atone for. |
.. I don't even know what to say to this.
|
It's not so much the video that's chilling (desensitization by media overexposure) but the screaming at the end "Oh God No!!" Up until that point I was doing okay, then it felt like someone punched me in the stomach and a deep sense of dread. I never want to know if that's the same thing I would scream or if I would even be able to scream.

Most people's last moments are going to be at least pretty unpleasant. I've been there for a few, will probably be around for a few more. The thing I keep in mind is that in a forty or fifty year life you have probably thirty or fortynine and three quarters decent to good times versus a few minutes, hours, weeks of very bad time, so to dwell on the worst of times when it is not happening yet or already happened is out of proportion. It is a very very ugly thing like a huge kick in the stomach which leaves you feeling hollowed out to be a witness to in any way, and that you fight against obviously, but part of the fight is to go on living besides that or to give what good there is meaning, to make things better somehow.
Just some of my own reflections, maybe they don't make much sense or offer any comfort. Something good should come from even very bad things. |
