I Need To Know!!!

ICW until the Garden show...

She's on FIRE!!!

Pisces Queen 06-14-2006 02:26 PM

WOW ~ she is on fire. I haven't seen her this energized in years. Thanks for posting.

Brad 06-14-2006 02:44 PM

Nice! She even did the "well, I think you should go" line! I don't think I've heard her do that lyric switch in many, many years. Cool.

Brad

JazmenFlowers 06-14-2006 02:46 PM

omg. how happy does she look? swinging her legs and the mic stand. you know, it makes me wonder just how much LESS pressure she feels when she's only performing a couple songs at someone else's gig?

rock on bitch. you da bomb.

BTFLCHLD 06-14-2006 02:53 PM

I love the intensity behind this song. Can anyone tell me where this song lands in the set-list? If this informtion was given previously, sorry for asking again but I missed it and I am curious. I would guess towards the beginning? Or am I wrong?

p.s. Do not ask me about the skirt.

UnwindedDreams 06-14-2006 03:15 PM

I'm not crazy over that skirt either but I like it better than the edge shawl...

I love how Petty can't seem to EVER make it to the mic on time!

Stevie looks and sounds great! I love it when she's all pumped up into a frenzy! I also love how she raised one leg while singing into the mic at one point. Awesome.

UnwindedDreams 06-14-2006 03:40 PM

I wonder if I can get a camera in at the garden...hmmm:rolleyes:

foxyluva 06-14-2006 03:57 PM

Thats awesome!! What a great performance - I love how Stevie holds some of the notes longer than usual :D

Could be even better than "INTK" on the Red Rocks DVD!!!

SpyNote 06-14-2006 04:04 PM

Interesting that she took out "Well, take your violet and blue mornings with you" (or more recently, "ra ra ra ra ras--with you!"). I guess he didn't want to confuse the Petty fans.

It's always interesting to see Stevie when she's actually interested in performing. This is pretty good considering how tired and phoned in she's been doing this one over the years. Really awesome that Tom Petty is such a no ego kind of dude that he has no issues whatsoever handing her the lead.

I was really hanging on the end waiting for the "Well, take your violet and blue morning wiiiith you!!!!" at the end- it felt like she was gonna go for it.

Very exciting indeed :blob1:

And at last! "If you say you're gonna leave then you'd better say so" is no longer an issue!

Hurrah!

Thanks for posting! :wavey:

That stinks. I think that skirt is the best outfit she has worn in years. I think she looks so much more beautiful in white. Especially when she wore the white shawl with the white dress...Favorite outfit ever!

Janis_no1 06-14-2006 10:23 PM

I've been listening to the song from the charlotte show, and she does gun it doesn't she!! Gets into it, takes a little risk with her voice instead of staying the "Stevie safe" range... which to me just aint exciting as its so trained. In the audio i can here her having some fun and simply rockin it! Fabulous to hear, she must feel more rock and roll with them and taking the boring easy approach to the songs just dont cut it with these fun guys! I was so expecting her to say the voilet and blue end as well... she so could of, and i hope she does during one of the shows.... i live how she pushed the end of the lines... ie" lllliiinnnes"

so great to hear her like this... her solo tour sucked in comparison... oops did i just say that???

SandyMac 06-14-2006 10:31 PM

OMG, She kicked it so hard, I nearly fell off my chair  :blob2: :]
Whooo, hooo for the lasso move !! Man, was she really getting into it.

I really do hope that for the next FM tour, Stevie stays true to her sense of style and does not tone it down so much like in the SYW tour. She is fit and energetic and needs to show it more at an FM concert.

Thank you for posting this. I grinned from ear to ear knowing Stevie is having so much fun.

-Sandy

She did it at the vegas shows.

I wish she'd stop skirt dancing. She sounds great, but I cannot stand how she now grabs her skirt and shmings it around. Just let the skirt go, and really dance. Or don't. But for god's sake, flipping your skirt back and forth is lame.

Sweetie, that's been a patented Stevie-move since the "Big Love" video... and I LOVE it. Swish those skirts, Stevie!!!

I just dislike the skirt. It reminds me of a 50-yr old table cloth one finds at the bottom of a garage sale box.
There, I said it! Maybe it is the color.

No, it was different in that video. "Swish" is different than "shake" or "shming".
Plus, you love it?!? You've got to be kidding. She looks like she's trapped by her skirt, and might actually dance if she let go of it - especially if that hand of hers works up as much momentum as it looks like.

Here's her stage directions:
1. Grab Skirt
2. Shake hand like a palsy victim
3. Do not let go of skirt
4. Do not dance.
5. Shake skirt slightly out of time

Edit - I don't love the skirt, either, but she can wear a paper bag if she'll just stop grabbing and shaking it lamely.

Johnny Stew 06-14-2006 11:13 PM

Eh, some singers tap their hand on their leg... some snap their fingers... Stevie swishes/shakes/shmings her dress. :p

It's retarded comparatively. there was a time she didn't do that. And why does she do it now? It doesn't look good. It distracts me. She should be holding the mic and strutting around is what she should be doing.

DestinyRules 06-14-2006 11:21 PM

I like the skirt schming thing she's got going on. Of course, I generally prefer that she grab the ribbons she has on her mic stand. If I could, I'd bring my own set of them to karaoke and attach and detach them at will.

amber 06-14-2006 11:24 PM

^^^^^

Ahhhhhhhh! That ribbon grabbing is almost as bad! What is wrong with you people? Remember when she didn't have to hold onto anything, and just danced?
It looks hella, hella, hella lame.

BTFLCHLD 06-14-2006 11:40 PM

The only "move" I would say that I do not like is the drumroll. And, yes, the air-guitar is OK by me. ;) I know I want to see/hear her again.

i like the air guitar when it's fun and playful, but when it's a slow song and she does it, i'm not a fan. of the air guitar, not stevie.
