StevieStock

hold on for further deets...

EDIT: so this is my idea. why can't we have a fan convention once a year somewhere where there's lots to do and see. like make a weekend out of it. start things off on a Friday night and end on a Sunday morning. just an excuse for everyone to get together and gab, show pics, trade stuff, whatever. it like hit me about 30 minutes ago. I organized something similar in 1999 (refer to MidSouth Fan Party on the Nicksfix fan activities; yeah, all, what 6? showed up). anyway, if no one cares or is interested, ok, but if you are say so. and I'll see if I can get a more formal idea together. picture it, StevieStock 2006...damn that sounds sweet.

pros? cons?

amber 06-03-2006 12:48 AM

um....I can't believe you posted a thread with no subject. F*cking egomaniac!
"Oh, stay tuned! Swear!"

amber 06-03-2006 01:49 AM

Hey, I just kind of talked about that in the Lame thread. Good Plan.

jannieC 06-03-2006 08:03 AM

I would definitely be in. :wavey:

ELIUD 06-03-2006 09:04 AM

Where would it be? As long as its not in the sticks somewhere, I'd go.

David 06-03-2006 11:16 AM

Sure! I'll be there!

DavidMn 06-03-2006 06:02 PM

I think that's awesome...
How about the weekend of NOTS?? In New york...have a gathering Saturday...um..afternoon, then a convention on Sunday....followed by a PARADE! :blob1: :]

Sahara 06-04-2006 09:46 AM

A Stevie convention would be awesome...
I wouldn't be able to go if it was in the States, obviously, but it sounds like a great idea. I bet you'd get plenty of interest.

JazmenFlowers 06-05-2006 01:20 PM

I really think this would be awesome. Fri-Sun may be a little much for some people now that I think about it, but Sat-Sun should be a good bet. as far as where, I was thinking somewhere like Dallas, Atlanta...there was another place discussed before but I can't remember where it was. I'm open for ideas. if nothing else, at least a group could get together to hang out for a couple days.

GypsySorcerer 06-05-2006 01:26 PM

I'd be up for it. :woohoo:

That place? Is Buffalo.

Seriously, I had mentioned before that it wouldn't be a bad place, as long as it's between June & September when it's almost guaranteed to be nice weather-wise. Plus, people could see Niagara Falls while they were here. And it's cheap to get here & stay here.

Chicago might be good - a tad bit more centrally located. How about Austin? I'd love to go there.

I'd be in if everything fell into place (money, time off, travel, etc.)

Dude I'm so there.

BTFLCHLD 06-05-2006 02:21 PM

What about Vegas?

DavidMn 06-05-2006 02:39 PM

I dunno. I like Boston. I know Stevie has always said that's one of her favorite places to visit.

BTFLCHLD 06-05-2006 02:54 PM

I think the majority of peeps would have to fly-in so it would be a good idea to take that into consideration when scheduling the location/date.

Rickypt 06-05-2006 03:03 PM

I would go and help with planning. It would be great to tack onto NOTS, but the cost might be too high for a lot of people.

Dallas and Atlanta are good ideas because they are airport hubs and hotels tend to be cheaper. Vegas is good because you can usually get a cheap flight there and hotel deals depending on time of year.

awesome points.

I was initially not really considering scheduling something around NOTS...don't remember why I thought that...I've forgotten my reasoning behind it.

Probably because you, as a planner, would be too busy getting ready to perform. :wavey:

Not a problem. You're good, and more people should know that. I only have one request, and that is I've always wanted to be in a "Posse" Maybe I can be like one of those hangers on to your people.

ha ha. I must warn you. I work my posse. it's not a free ride.

btw, I just added a poll to help narrow a location.

Rickypt 06-05-2006 04:21 PM

I voted for "other" because I think Vegas is the best option. Dallas and Atlanta would be 2nd choice, no preference between the two.

BTFLCHLD 06-05-2006 04:33 PM

vegas :woohoo:

Is it though? Vegas has gotten pretty damn expensive lately. I vote for Atlanta because I've never been and Strand is down there so he would have to show up! Plus I've heard its a cool city!

Wait, or NOLA to pour in our tourist dollars which is really our civic duty anyway, right? It wouldn't be for us at all! ;)

goldie 06-05-2006 09:06 PM

Memphis!!!!

I just love Memphis. That's why.

Vegas on the off season, not around holidays, is pretty reasonable.

You could come to Atlanta and then we (including the Scotties) could drive down to NOLA and sing La Nicks and show tunes the entire way!!!!!! :wavey:

I haven't been to Vegas in a few years, so maybe it's different. It's a city that has a lot to do during non-convention time that doesn't require renting a car or taking a lot of cabs.

I'm very hesitant to see New Orleans again, but I think it's a good choice also.

skcin 06-06-2006 09:16 AM

Well, I voted Buffalo, of course. :) But I would probably be able to try for Atlanta, Memphis or possibly Vegas.

macfanken 06-06-2006 12:45 PM

No cities in the west?

amber 06-06-2006 12:45 PM

There is a notable lack of west coast cities, but I voted Austin, as I have heard it is really cool. Second choice Atlanta, ditto reasons. Lets have it in a season where the giant southern man-eating bugs are at a minimum, though. Please? *shudder*.
It would be nice to have it in a good "walking around, lots of bars and food in a fairly concentrated place" city. Aren't Austin and Atlanta like that?
And Strand, I vote driving singing Stevie and classic rock, instead of show tunes. That way we can sing guitar parts, too! :wavey: :wavey:

skcin 06-06-2006 02:30 PM

^ Yeah, that's why I mentioned Austin. I thought that too.

I think the reason there are no West coast cities is that so far nobody's mentioned them in the thread. Jazzy posted the poll later.
