Nicks / Petty colaborations

Hey everyone!

In anticipation of the upcoming tour, I'm trying to put together a CD of all Nicks / Petty colaborations, but I know I'll be missing some.

What all songs have the two worked together on?

Thanks!

Stop Draggin'
Insider
I Will Run to You
The Apartment Song

That's all I can think of for now.

Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
Insider
You Can Still Change Your Mind
I Will Run To You
Outside The Rain (Heartbreakers play everything but no Tom on vocals)
The Apartment Song (Demo)
Needles And Pins

Then you could also include Stevie's covers of I Need To Know and
Free Fallin'.

There are a bunch of unreleased studio tracks the two recorded along with bootleg recordings of live versions of Stop Draggin' and Insider, and I Will Run To You from 1981-83

Is The Apartment Song recorded? I don't know about this one.

They also played together at one of the White House Xmas shows. Silent Night, I think (not a duet, but TP/HB backing).

Did they release that one on video or audio, by the way? or was it just on TV?

Yeah, they worked together on "Gypsy".

Also.....

"Sanctuary"

"Battle of the Dragon" I guess it was supposed to be the "Stop Draggin'.." / "I Will Run..." entry for Rock A Little. Maybe the Tom Petty side of this was dropped when Jimmy Iovine ditched the project?? Anyone??? Bueller????

Stevie (and Sharon, I believe) did prominent background vocals on "You Can Still Change Your Mind"

The Stevie and the Heartbreakers live version of Silent Night was actually included on A Very Special Christmas Volume 5.

Are you sure that was the Heartbreakers? Im sure it was this other guy who is now a big music producer - I cant remember his name...

Livia 05-28-2006 06:07 PM

You may be thinking of the first one - the one Stevie did with Robbie Nevil. The second one was with the Heartbreakers. :D

Plus, Stevie sang Silent Night live with Robbie Nevil in 1988 on a Christmas show. Roy Bittan played the piano, I think. Sting was on that same program singing an old English carol.

There's also the demo version of "Battle of the Dragon." Unfortunately I don't think there is a decent quality version of this in circulation. Let me know if you need it.

Does anyone have Needles and Pins? I don't think I've heard this one.

It was the Heartbreakers. Tom did an intro for Stevie on the show.

One of my faves. It's a remake, don't know who did it originally. Those harmonies are awesome on Stevie & Tom's version.

Livia 06-02-2006 09:42 PM

Sonny Bono co-wrote and recorded Needles and Pins. It's been covered by other people as well.
