TV Season Finales

Everyone happy with their favorite shows' finale episodes? I've already expressed my disgust over Gilmore Girls, sadness over Grey's, and my jubillation over Amazing Race so I won't go into those again. Here's a few more I watched:

SPOILER ALERT!

***IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THESE SHOWS YET, BUT YOU'RE PLANNING ON IT, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!***

Will & Grace: Cheese factor - very high. :D But I loved it. It made me laugh, it made me cry. I haven't watched it regularly in a couple of years, but I thought it was great. The first hour (clips & outtakes, mostly) was so-so. The last episode ever was completely unrealistic, but I don't care. It wrapped up all the loose ends nicely & it was cute. The kid thing (meeting in college just like W&G did, then getting married later) was way over the top, but adorable nonetheless.

I teared up a little at the aged W&G (the real aged W&G, not the nightmare she had at the beginning, lol) and it killed me that Karen looked the same. Classic. As usual, Jack & Karen had the best lines & interaction, and Jack inheriting all of Beverly Lesley's money was genius. Loved that Will & Karen actually became more like W&G in the future.

Jack to Karen: "What's the story, drunken whorey?"

Scrubs: Oh, how I adore this little show. It never fails to make me laugh out loud at the TV. Cox & his wife ditching the baby's stuff only to find out that his vasectomy didn't take & she's preg again? Awesome. But the funniest scenes, by far, were the ones where J.D. was trying to get the disco-loving old gay guys off his porch.

"Get out of here, you old queens! Ooooh! Appletini! When did the gays start drinking straight guy drinks?"

Supernatural: Is the dad still possessed? Will one of the hot sons die? Will they ever catch that demon? Stay tuned...

ER: The last few weeks, I'm thinking to myself "I just don't care about these characters anymore." Then they have Samantha's ex come in, kidnap their son, force her to help him escape prison, and injure Luca AND Abby in the process. I actually gasped when I saw the kid in the van, and I didn't think anything on ER could shock me anymore. I only hope they don't have Abby losing the baby next season, I'll be pissed.

Ghost Whisperer: I am so naive & stupid, I did NOT expect them to kill off Andrea. Hubby figured it out right away, but not me. Hell, my mom didn't realize she was dead until I told her.

How I Met Your Mother: So he does end up with Robin? I'm confused. And I HATE that Lilly & whatshisname broke up. :(

Still to come: Medium, American Idol...I think that's it.

I still haven't wathced the series finale for That 70's Show, but I will this weekend. Did anyone catch Bones? I missed it, can anyone fill me in?

There were so many twists & turns (cue Bob Welch) that it would take a month to explain.

Try going here...

Official BONES website at Fox.com...season 1 finale synopsis

...after you read that, if you have questions, I'll try to answer them. :wavey:

skcin 05-19-2006 11:30 AM

^ Well, it took me a while to get through it, but I did. So, Brennan's dad's alive, huh? Interesting. Somehow I think there's more to the story - I doubt they were actually bank robbers, if that was it, why would her dad tell her to stop investigating?

Thanks! :wavey:

hayley 05-19-2006 11:44 AM

I'm looking forward to the Alias finale on Monday night, and will have no problem sacrificing an entire season spent watching 24 to watch the Alias finale instead of 24's.

Irina! Sark! Rambaldi endgame! Kickass!

bikerchic 05-19-2006 12:25 PM

Loved Will & Grace last nite, thought the whole thing was very funny. I'm going to miss them. Grace's big ass in that velour track suit (all the kids are wearing them  ) and long, frizzy, greying hair was priceless.

Fell asleep again, during ER, but I think I know whats going on. I'll watch for the repeat in the late summer reruns. Ten o'clock is just too damn late to air a tv show!

I didn't have it figured out either, and when I finally did figure it out (I think she even said, "Am I dead?"), I GASPED and started crying. That in itself is so weird because I really don't have a strong attachment to this show! Anyway, it shocked me, too.

chiliD 05-19-2006 01:06 PM

I've liked Aisha Tyler in just about every show I've seen her in (CSI, Friends, Talk Soup). I was kind of shocked that they killed off her character...UNLESS, she's a recurring character that refuses to crossover and sticks around to help Melinda from the "other side".

Yup, that's what I think. Unless the antique shop partnership thing just wasn't going anywhere and they just didn't have enough storyline for her and want to get rid of her completely. But I think her sticking around as a ghost would be cool.

ITA, she's a cool chick. Mark thinks the same thing that you do, that she won't cross over & she'll stay on the show. I don't know how long that could last, though, since Melinda is always urging people to cross over, saying they can't stay. Either way, I'm sure the first few weeks next season will be devoted to Melinda trying to save Andrea's soul from evil laughing no-face guy.

GREAT point!

Maybe Grissom will get tired of Hodges' nose in his butt and get Aisha back on CSI :D

Grissom doesn't give a **** about anything since HE'S BANGING SARA!

YAAAAAAAAAAY!

How did I miss talking about that earlier? I've only been waiting for a million years. It's the only reason I watch the show.

wondergirl9847 05-19-2006 03:49 PM

The Office!!!!

Jim and Pam kissed!! And....he told her he was in love with her!!!!!

That was my fave season finale. :)

I enjoyed seeing the last Will and Grace even though I've not been watching it here lately. ER shocked the frick outta me too. Luca, Abby and their baby better be okay.

Livia 05-19-2006 05:51 PM

ER - what a nail biter! Loved it! Last week's episode, when Neela's hubby died - I was bawling uncontrollably...but John Leguizamo's antics had me lmao between the tears.

Will & Grace - meh. I was disappointed. I liked the show before the finale better. The montages were very well done! And yeah, "What's the story, drunken whorey?" I emailed Brucie earlier today that I want to start saying that ALL the time now.

That 70's Show - loved it. Much more satisfying to me than Will & Grace...

The Office! WhatEVER! I screamed! Loved it! I'm a total Jim and Pam shipper!

Amazing Race - said it before, I'll say it again, YAY HIPPIES!!

Survivor - Gaaawd, I'm bored w/ this show. But I'll watch the next season - they really need to change things up.

The OC - wow, didn't see that one coming either...

And since it's sweeps time, the Young & the Restless has been fantastic all week!

Dayum, I watch a lot of TV. I'm kinda glad most of my favorite shows have wrapped up - I need to get out more! :D

Paula stated SPOILER ALERT at the top of the thread. I assumed anyone reading would keep that in mind, since we're discussing things that have already aired!

I'm hoping she's leaving to be on a better show, she certainly should be. I read her book a few months back (Swerve) and it was hilarious.
Actually, I haven't seen her on that show, it's so bad I can't even watch it, even for Aisha Tyler.

dude, i felt the same way! i wish it would have just ended with the friggin' montage show. i thought the finale was unemotional and disappointing.

Rickypt 05-22-2006 04:58 PM

Without A Trace: No cliffhanger this time, but yet another top quality, suspenseful episode with great acting. Although it was shocking to see how not cute Jason Priestly has become. And we learned Jack's going to be a daddy again. This is one of the best shows ever.

Cold Case: I don't know why I'm addicted to this show, since I always cringe at how dumb it is. But Lily's found a beau who also loves cats.

We could not believe the lameness of this FINALE episode. Horrible.

Totally, for example, there is no way the guy could have fooled people into thinking he was the one killed and not his foster brother. They don't just haul away a murdered body without it being identified.

And, the final scene of Lily showing up at the door to bonk a blond guy was done 2 seasons ago, when she used to bonk that Assistant District Attorney dude.

Exactly. And it was like, who cares! I haven't been liking Lily for a while now though, so maybe that's where I'm coming from. I just thought it was so uneventful and lame.

The show is too much of a formula:

1. Play song from year of murder
2. Show happy scene with person about to be killed
3. Show person dead
4. Show current scene of Philadelphia
5. Lily or Scotty talk about something personal that has been a recurring theme
6. Interrupt Lily/Scotty to bring up new info on cold case
7. All detectives take turns saying a line about the case.
Enter "AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH" and credits
8. All detectives look at old evidence materials and take turns explaining what is in the file.
9. Lily/Scotty interview Suspect #1 (flashing from younger age to current) who says "you're talking to the wrong guy, you should be investigating Suspect #2", followed by flashback to show why they should be investigating Suspect #2. While the viewer thinks "why wasn't this investigated before the case got cold".
10. The other detectives interview Suspect #2 (flashing from younger age to current), who seems quite guilty. Suspect #2 gives a flashback but viewer still thinks s/he is guilty.
11. Go back to recurring personal theme for a few minutes. RickyPT hopes it's about Scotty because he's a babe.
12. New info comes in.
13. Detectives go back to Suspect #2, but there is a lame twist and we learn the murderer is Suspect #1.
14. Detectives bring in Suspect #1 for questioning. S/he denies the murderer, but Lily puts her hand on her hips and asks a tough question. Suspect #1 breaks down and gives a complete account of the murder.
15. Play emotional song from year of death. Everything in slow motion from this point forward. Suspect #1 is taken away in handcuffs. Friends and family members of dead person are able to resume normal activities free of grief. One lucky person (sometimes Lily) gets to see the dead person as spirit for a brief moment. Recurring personal theme plays out in a short slow-motion scene.
16. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer

Alias Rocks!!! My second favorite show ever! after Charmed, Which is also ending:(

elie 05-23-2006 02:54 AM

Has anyone been watching Prison Break? I think the last episode of the first season aired last week in the States.
I liked it a lot, despite all the crazy and impossible things happening all the time. But that's how it is with this kind of series ( 24 is another example).:)

irishgrl 05-23-2006 07:38 AM

Any thoughts on the Alias finale? was it me or did it lack the "edge-of-your-seat" punch that individual episodes had? However, Im glad Sydney and Vaughn got to make babies together, and that Dixon got promoted.
I have only been watching reruns, so I wasnt up to date on all the players.
For instance I didnt know who all those other young girls were...in the end, it didnt matter because I knew enuff of the major players to follow most of it.

I think Alias was a very exciting show and Im sorry to see it end...I think it will be the template for future action shows.

I never got into it, because I thought "how long could this show last?" But I hear it's a good show, so I'm regetting it.

That's one I want to watch on DVD. It seems like the kind of show I can watch the whole season over a rainy weekend this winter.

Speaking of Fox shows, did anyone watch "Reunion"? It was a whodunnit, with each episode taking place a different year. Starting with '87 and moving to the present.

Anyway, it was insanely stupid, but I got hooked and they cancelled it before we found out who the murderer was.

I wanted to watch it because it looked somewhat interesting, AND *I* graduated in 1986. Anyway, I forgot about it and I would have been pissed if I had gotten into it, knowing now that they cancelled it. It must have been pretty horrible, though.

Did anyone watch the finale of Medium last night? I thought the episode itself was interesting, but is it me or are finales not cliffhangers anymore?

Supernatural is love. I loved the finale and can't wait for the new season.

anyone know when Nip/Tuck starts back up?

It was terrible. Everything was a cliché from the particular year. For example, one guy dropped out of college, moved to Seattle to drink good coffee, and wound up inventing the "search engine". Another guy fought in Desert Storm. One of the women became a movie star, but started her career by being the chick on the car in the a video similar to that Whitesnake song.

But I get hooked on soap opera style shows.

I watched Reunion. I thought the idea was great but it wasn't very good and it was very cliche. If I'm remembering correctly, I read that the murderer was supposed to be the victim's long lost daughter that she gave up for adoption.
