Worst Stevie Demo/Outtake
 

The worst Stevie unreleased song has to be 'Mabel Normand' - what a piece of s*** :eek: It has no melody whatsoever - it sounds like a drug-induced rant...

I thought it was decided that Amber was the worst?

Well Im deciding that "Mabel Normand" is my worst - I don't see how "Amber" could be worse than "Mabel Normand"...

EDIT: I have not listened to 'Amber' in about a year - and now I can't find my mp3 of "Amber" can somebody post it so I can compare the two?

I'm loathe to post it. Does Mabel Normand have a horrible Madonna accent?
I don't remember Mabel Normand, but I'm pretty sure I've heard it and it is bad.

So, really, no one is going to post it?

If I have it still, it's buried on a cassette somewhere. I'm not a completist, so I don't save the demo's that I can't bring myself to listen to. I'm trying to see if any site has it up right now to DL, but it doesn't look like it.

I must have it somewhere. I'll try to do it later so you can all compare the suckage.

"Night Gallery" has always bothered me.

Help me out here but there is one demo that has Stevie all coked out with all her backup girls and some guy and they're trying to sing that "My Love Can Never Be Lost" or something like that?

I think that one is more humurous actually, but the song is dreadful. If you ever get a chance to listen to that (I think it's 10 minutes) horrible demo, you get a gold star.

Nope, I think it's heinous. I haven't heard it in a while, but from what I can remember it pretty much has no melody. When I first heard it I thought the tape must be warped because of Stevie's voice. I will say that the lyrics aren't that bad when you read them, but not every poem translates well to a song.

I can't believe no one has cited "Lily Girl" yet. So I will... "Lily Girl" is Stevie's worst demo/outtake.

I can't believe someone put "Old-Fashioned"! I adore it! It's the Gypsy video put to words.

My least favorite is probably Gypsy Beggar. I don't care about the Wuthering Heights aspect. It still is painful to listen to.

Any of the Kenny G ones... Dial The Number/Tragedy.../Don't Treat Me Like A Stranger I can't stand them. Blah...........

It's about 22 minutes of insufferable yuckdom.
Almost put me off Stevie demos since it was one of the first I'd heard.

I agree. 'Dial The Number' is one of my FAVOURITE Stevie demos - it actually makes me cry. I Love the WH version also...

I have re-listened to "Amber" and it is not bad at all. "Mabel Normand" is STILL the worst demo I have heard :sorry:

I agree with a lot of the other least favorites here. All the Kenny G demos are awful as well as Mabel Normad and Gyspy Beggar.

Tragedy of One's Soul is one of my FAVORITES. The end is especially powerful. Looks like consensus is hard to reach!

All Over You is pretty rotten, too. And I really don't like Lily Girl or any of the Kenny G demos. Ack!

All that Kenny G sound/demo stuff sucks serious BEhind! I can't stand those. As for Amber, though far from genious, I think it is an important aspect to Stevie's whimisical self. Sort of the last days of her full blown Hippie-dom. In that aspect, I can fully appreciate it.
Sadly, I think one of the worst things to come out is that "My Heart" crap. With all the controversy, it's just so BLAH! Maybe not the worst, but buried for some time for a reason. Mable Normand is exceptionally bad. Lily Girl, I can't place that ditty at all. Need to find it, and post my results. LOL

I like Dial The Number. The other two, meh. naptime.

if I had to pick the worst demo, I know which one I'd pick but I swear I can not think of the name, but Stevie and Sharon are singing "do do do, ahh, ooh" and it has this little tinkering bell drum type sound - damn - can't think of any of the lyrics either...:(

The worst, IMO, are OSOTM demos- Love Don't Fail Me Now, Dial The Number, Friend from Yesterday, DTMLAS, etc...
I'm also not a fan of Annabelle Lee from TISL...YUK!
All the other ones mentiones previously- mabel and such, I do agree with EXCEPT SPACE NEEDLE...THAT SONG IS AB FAB!!!

damn, annabel lee is one of my absolute faves! dial the number is cheesy/fab but definitely not grade a material, i have to admit.

Oh, wow, really?? I think "My Heart" is an amazing song!
