You might want to check out The Penguin's Blue Letter Archives rather than just that website. Here's another one on The Nicks Fix: http://www.nicksfix.com/article_mojo_dec2003.htm |
Couldn't immediately give you an article to confirm, but he does have a mild form of epilepsy.
Shocking, isn't it. I hear he also saves his toenail clippings. |
Eh, it's not a big deal, FoxyLuva. It seems to be almost completely controlled by medication, and certainly doesn't affect his quality of life or ability to perform. It's not like he's having grand mal seizures every 10 minutes.
|
And, for as much flak as he gets about his pot smoking, I'll bet that it did a WHOLE bunch of good as far as controlling his seizures. And, his "condition" conceivably had a whole lot to do with his (seeming) avoidance of cocaine in mass quantities. (which brings up speculation as to the cause of his late-Rumours tour seizures, hospitalization and subsequent spinal tap...I'll lay odds that cocaine WAS involved somehow.)

According to an item in the Philadelphia Daily News at the time, LB collapsed directly before the band's July 30 gig at JFK Stadium. He & Mac were able to play anyway, but LB had a spinal tap (possibly the following day) that left him in severe pain on a plane ride to Washington D.C. (In his autobio, Mick reports Lindsey passing out in his hotel room in Philadelphia in the autumn of 1977, but Rolling Stone & numerous newspaper accounts all mention a collapse/seizure in Philly in 1978, though the two may be separate incidences.) The band's next three shows were canceled, according to the Daily News. The first show back was in Largo (undoubtedly Landover). So the timeline makes sense--three canceled shows from July 30 to August 7, & certainly one or more of them might have been a Capital Centre gig. Before I brought this to the attention of the fans, August 2 was the date always listed for the 60-minute pro-shot Cap Centre video. One guy who attended one (of the possibly two) Landover concerts recollected to me that he specifically remembered riding around the DC beltway, talking about the death of the Pope. Pope Paul VI died on August 6, 1978. Another fan told me that Lindsey collapsed in the Sheraton Hotel in New Carrollton, MD, the afternoon of the show (scheduled for that night), which he (the fan) thought was August 2. "We were all in our seats at the Capitol Centre when the show cancellation was announced," he said. "They rescheduled the show for a couple of days later, & then also added a second night, literally three days or so before the show. So I think the band played on both August 6 & 7, 1978." |

I believe that there is an Australian interview from around 1979/1980 where Stevie mentions that Mick has diabetes.

http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showpo...22&postcount=1 The uproar wasn’t all about love, though. Tusk’s leading actors, Buckingham and Fleetwood absorbed onslaughts that had nothing to do with the vagaries of eccentric ego and erratic passion. In July, 1978, during a touring time-out from recording, Buckingham collapsed in a Philadelphia hotel suite with a seizure, soon diagnosed as epilepsy. Intimations of mortality? “Not really; More, What the hell was that? You’re on the bathroom floor, your girlfriend’s crying and you’re, Huh? What? It does take a horrible toll on your body. You go into this complete coiled-spring thing. But once I was prescribed Dilantin I had no more problems.” 1978 indeed. |

Wasnt there a situation on the Tusk tour where there were some cancelled/rescheduled shows because of this?
