Seinfeld curse over?

Has anyone else been watching The New Adventures of Old Christine? I've really been enjoying it & it seems to be doing well. Nothing groundbreaking or anything, but it's a hell of a lot funnier than that stupid Jenna Elfman show.

Plus, when I'm watching, I don't think "oh, it's Elaine" when I see Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Livia 04-04-2006 03:59 PM

I've always loved her, and the Elaine character (reminds me of me). I've heard good reviews about the new show, but I keep forgetting to watch it! When's it on again? Mondays?

Eh, they keep switching it around. Mostly Mondays (last night it was on at 8:30, but that was because of basketball.) Not sure where it will end up, I hope it doesn't get lost on the schedule.

ah, that's not a good sign.

Hijack: Does it please anyone else that Sharon Stone's movie "Basic Instink 2" placed 10th (tied with Larry the Cable Guy") or is it just me?

DavidMn 04-04-2006 04:46 PM

My friend Craig has told me he really likes this show.

well, I always pull for the underdog and want bitches to surprise everyone, but I knew it was gonna bomb. to me, the promotion was **** and it wasn't marketed very well. I want to see it, but I'll probably wait til it comes out on DVD.

I thought I was going to throw up last week when she was on "The View", she was going on and on about how fabulous she looks for over 40, and it didn't help with all the View bitches telling her too. She was just so smug and over confident. I hate her.

She did the same thing on Letterman. And I hate her too.

amber 04-04-2006 05:05 PM

I like Sharon Stone, but she does tend towards overconfidence at times. To me she's a fabulous actress for "B" movies.
Ebert & Roeper gave Instinct 2 two thumbs down, but said Sharon was magnificent and the movie was very entertaining.
She does look really good....

I haven't seen ... JLD's new show, but would like to. She's great.

There's no hijack rule on people's opinions, just on subject matter. I'm well within my rights here!

Omigod, I am so with you on this. I thought it was really funny, I was laughing out loud. Whereas Elfman's show was rediculous, the whole thing was about a f*cking couch. It seriously was the dumbest show I've ever seen. Heinous writing. Dreadful.

Dreyfus may have hit her stride with this one, it seems like a well thought out and put together show. The other characters are intriguing too. I love the "too involved with the ex" subplot. The actors have good chemistry.

She has had face AND boob work so there's that. She does look really good. Why oh why did she wait so long to do it and then sign on to something sub par? There's some screw loose somewhere in that woman!

I don't think she's getting tons of offers; girl needs to eat. She's always in bad movies. Honestly, I don't think she's the best actress, but she's easily the best actress for subpar movies.

I watched the first episode and a little of the second and it just wasn't doing anything for me .... I do love her though. I TOTALLY loved Watching Ellie and am quite bummed it didn't do better. I liked it more when it first started ... I think the 2nd season (if there was one) got weird with more characters, mostly idiotic neighbors. But I liked her character and her boyfriend was a HOTTIE. Nice accent, too. YUM.

I read somewhere that she was paid 14 million whether the movie was released or not...

I don't have any real desire to see it... isn't going to top the first, so why bother... the previews I've seen made it look a little cheezy really....

Yeah, yeah, we get it, you're both cool sexy bitches who are older than me but are hotter than me. Whatever.

One review I read for BI2 said it was funny & campy & ridiculous like Showgirls. Another said it isn't even on the same level as Showgirls. I don't know which review is worse.

Aww, thanks. :o I got an email thru myspace from this 22 year old stud muffin today, boy was that a nice ego boost. As they say around here "he's a wicked playah" or so it would seem from his 600+ friends and all the hos on there. Still, it was flattering! ;)

Oh Paula, you're a cool sexy bitch as well and way funnier than anyone I've ever met! Women never think they're as hot as they are, well, unless you're SS. :p

I'll probably see BI2 but it won't be until it comes out on DVD. Then again, I rarely go to the movies anyway!

dissention 04-04-2006 11:53 PM

The Sharon Stone hate hurts my everything. Though I do concede that her breasts are as immobile as Stevie's 1989 hair.

Sharon Stone and Gina Gershon are the two most bewildering actresses out there. Two rather fine actresses who make the worst tripe imaginable. It's as confounding to me as the positive comments attributed to the original "Basic Instinct," a movie so vile & obnoxious that I wanted to take an icepick to everyone, and viciously so. Especially Verhoeven. He's titillated by date-rape orgasms, while I sat there disgusted, knowing that he probably gets an erection that he wants to rub away at every time his eyes view that particular scene. To hear him describe it as a classic piece of erotica, like he does at every opportunity, would be akin to hearing Michael Jackson describe little boy willies as "beautiful," in that puzzling voice that reminds one of Rich Little having his balls tweaked. Disconcerting to the Nth degree.

Oh, and anyone possessing even a shred of common sense 86'ed any plans of seeing "Basic Instinct 2" in order to see "Slither." That movie kicked some ass!

Are you serious? That movie looks beyond gross to me, in fact, it looks so disgusting and horrifying just from the commercials that I'm surprised anyone ventured out to see it, so kuddos to you and your brass balls!

Slither was great. I didn't think it was too gross but that usually doesn't bother me.

She got a splinter when she touched it -- hence the gloves

I agree. Gina is amazing. I didn't know until recently that she was actually Prince's first choice for Purple Rain, but she turned it down.

I actually like Sharon a lot. I think she's gotten a little weird over the years, but I like her.

Really? I never knew she turned that role down.
