danax6 04-02-2006 12:06 PM

Long Distance Winner knocks my socks off.

gldstwmn 04-02-2006 12:08 PM

 Wow! I wonder what the date on this is? Is this Tuscaloosa? Thanks for this!

trackaghost 04-02-2006 12:09 PM

Oh my god! Thank you!
Downloading now...
Is this the same show the previously unearthed Rhiannon, Lola and Races Are Run tracks are from?

That's what I thought at first, but the Lola we already had from the Tuscaloosa show doesn't sound the same as this Lola. At least, the introductions to the song are different.

I'm just listening to Lola now. You're right. It doesn't sound like the same show.

I don't think so. They play Monday Morning. This is so cool.

This is what the person that uploaded this had to say about it:

'The CD's I have from Gary actually have what sounds like several concerts. They do have the entire Alabama show on them. There are about 24 different songs.'

He is going to upload the second batch on April 7. Maybe the rest of the Tuscaloosa show will be in there then. :)

estranged4life 04-02-2006 12:17 PM

Very interesting...

to see this show appear.

Now I need to find someone to trade so I can have a copy of it (That's a hint!)

I never knew that NGBA was written in '74. I always thought it was written between the eponymous FM album and Rumours.

Yeah, I was discussing this with someone earlier. NGBA is only an instrumental at this concert, maybe he added the lyrics later on? And also, it was said that during one of the OOTC concerts he mentioned that NGBA was about overcoming depressions, and never going back to that. Who knows right? I always assumed it was entirely about Stevie also.

estranged4life 04-02-2006 12:22 PM

Sounds fine to me...

so go ahead & PM me...

Also, the track entitled "Circles in Time"...Could this have been a track targeted for the rumored 2nd Buckingham/Nicks cd?

Now, If I can just locate a copy of the also rumored Buckingham/Nicks that was recorded by video cameras (If this show does exist, as I have heard, then someone is making sure it will not be put into circulation)

tuigirl 04-02-2006 12:23 PM

Holy moly, these tracks are great! On a bit of detective work looking at the site it's from, we reckon we might have either Gary Hodges or even Bob Welch to thank for these. Both S and L's voices are fab

jkmaletic 04-02-2006 12:31 PM

Right on! Thanks for posting it! Got it burned to a CD already!

I just listened to it. It's got a little bit heavier sound that what we heard on B/N but it would fit nicely with Rhiannon and the rest of the B/N 2 songs, I think.

gldstwmn 04-02-2006 12:46 PM

Is anyone else having a problem getting all of Races Are Run?

GypsySorcerer 04-02-2006 12:58 PM

Awesome. :blob1: Thanks for posting!

I don't recall where I heard or read this, but I believe Mr. Buckingham or someone else is on record as saying that "Never Going Back Again" is not about Stevie at all, but about some woman that LB had a brief fling with somewhere along the line.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? I've got no recollection at all as to the source of that story.

My guess would be Hodges, since he worked so closely with Lindsey and Stevie at the time.

"Hodges is well known to Fleetwood Mac fans primarily through his work with the fledgling Los Angeles duo of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks on the by-now-mythic Buckingham Nicks album, recorded and released in 1973 on the Polydor label. Hodges, who used the nickname "Hoppy" on the album gatefold, played drums and percussion on the sought-after album, the first for Buckingham and Nicks, and a notorious commercial failure at the time, two years before the hapless duo's fortunes changed and they were asked to join Fleetwood Mac."

Thanks so much for sharing these songs. They're pretty damn good!

AJ posted these. How exciting!!!!!! He talks about them here: http://p070.ezboard.com/fbuckinghamn...icID=636.topic

In the Rumours documentary, he said that. I certainly assumed that meant it was written after he and Stevie broke up! Now I don't know what to think.

sodascouts 04-02-2006 01:24 PM

Lindsey often writes instrumentals, then puts words to them later. Remember this was originally "Brushes" when it came to the Mac during the Rumours era. He apparently shelved it after BN broke up, then brought it back out after he broke up with Stevie and added the words about the woman who "put the wind back into [his] sails" - directing them towards Stevie as a "nah-nah."

gldstwmn 04-02-2006 01:31 PM

Can someone upload Races Are Run to yousendit? I can't seem to download more than 2 seconds of it. :(

jkmaletic 04-02-2006 01:31 PM

Didn't the beginning of Lola sound a LOT like the Chain? Too cool!

I wonder if this track is a cover. It doesn't sound like their usual stuff.
Anyone know?

It must be because La Nicks refers to she knows she has never seen so many people before.

Also, her high harmony on MM is a delight to hear - but the song is so much slower than the FM version.

Finallt, I thought LB said he wrote NGB after the break up? If so, how can it be here?

Thanks! I thought it was some video interview or other.

As for when the words were written, '76 is a good bet. The track labeled here as "Never Going Back Again" is an instrumental piece, is it not?

sodascouts 04-02-2006 01:53 PM

Guys, NGBA is an instrumental track here - I just realized some people haven't downloaded it yet and so my above post woudln't make sense to them!

Oops - I did not see your post. I am glad I am not alone in remembering that

Also, he plays it on an electric guitar

I wondered about that too, and googled the lyrics. Nothing came up - so either it's a very obscure song, or Lindsey wrote it. I say Lindsey because it follows his repetitive lyrical and chord structure and is very similar to Monday Morning in the content and theme.

"Lola, My Love"? A Lindsey original, I believe. The only "cover" on the Buckingham Nicks album is "Django."

I assumed she was referring to the "new" song, Circles in Time - that's what I was referring to, at least!

And I love how intense Lindsey gets at the end of it too, vocally!
