Personal Holy Grail

If you could have one single item from these Fleetwood Mac years, what would it be?

I myself would want a live performance of "The Derelict" with Mick Fleetwood on drums, John McVie on bass, Christine McVie on keys & backup vox, Bob Weston on guitar, Bob Welch on guitar & backup vox, & Dave Walker on lead vox.

That would be the greatest thing in the world for me.

strandinthewind 03-07-2006 02:35 PM

Well, I am still searching for it. By the way, were you being naughty when you left the Grail sign on again :xoxo:

DavidMn 03-07-2006 02:37 PM

For me, it would have been to see Fleetwood Mac live one time before Peter left the band. If for no other reason than too see "Harold";)

OOOOOOooh! A spanking!!

madformac 03-07-2006 02:51 PM

If I had a wish I would have liked to have been around to see Peter in his prime.

Specifically I'd have loved to have seen the legendary 25 minute version of Rattlesnake Shake in Boston from the front row.

Do you even know if they ever PERFORMED "The Derelict" in concert? I don't.

Actually, yours is pretty close to mine...I'd just like a complete show recording from the Penguin crew...followed closely by a complete show from the Mystery To Me folks.

My other dream/holy grail is to be in a band with you once again & to play "The Derelict" in G major with you on lead guitar & vox & "Angel" in E major with you once again on lead guitar & vox & to play long extended jammy versions of those songs, with my little fan blowing in my face & lots of wind & breeze in the studio or on the (outdoor) stage, with a kick-ass percussionist playing conga drums.

But of course that will never happen because you won't do it. You decided a long time ago that Oberman shall never again be in your band, & so Oberman slinked off into the Night of Forgottenness & Ignominy. And thus my "Derelict" & "Angel" dream & holy grail will never be found.

I for one would love to see and hear the entire album of Kiln House played live at a venue the size of my living room. I want Christine there playing the keys. Her album artwork available as a free souvenir.

Ummm...:o ...when the hell did I ever give you the impression that I'd never be a band with you?

Saddle the horses! Let's ride! :blob2: :blob2:

The Holy Grail for me would be to stop at a garage sale and find the Munich "acid tape" that Peter did in March 1970 in the basement of that commune.

macfan 57 03-07-2006 04:51 PM

There are a few things I'd love to have from this period:

A recording of a complete live show from the 1973 Mystery To Me tour & a video of their 1971 BBC performance(the one with "Show Me A Smile").

I also like Richard B's post. That would be very cool!

Yours too!

I have a big love for Kiln House. It's quirky. I want Mission Bell played at my wedding (if I ever marry). Maybe my funeral then. LOL.

In the latter case, make sure you specify to your heirs that you want the Fleetwood Mac version...not the original Donnie Brooks version. :)

I wonder if a copy still exists?

My Holy Grail would be to get a hand on the presumably destroyed video tape of the Den Haag concert 1969 (which I saw on Dutch television at the time), which was partly included on Roughage 69.
:(

That would be my "Holy Grail" too. And I've seen what I consider pretty good information that a copy does still exist, though it's not in "circulation". Hopefully one of these days we'll get to hear it.

Peter gave his wife a copy of the Munich tape...So it should be out there somwhere, maybe it will surface one day? I mean, live tapes of Jimi Hendrix are still being discovered.

I've heard that a second copy of the tape exists (maybe more?), and that a fan sent Peter a copy of this tape a few years ago. So there's still hope that it may get out into circulation some day.

It's interesting that nobody chose the actual Holy Grail as his or her personal holy grail!

    :blob1: :o :blob2:

Sod the actual Holy Grail - the Munich tape is way more important than that :)

I wouldn't dream of messing around with Monty Python. As a matter of fact, Peter told me to "Stop messin' around" long ago. :woohoo:

I was at the Warehouse that January. I saw Mick, John, Jeremy, Danny
and Peter. Since their co/stars (The Dead) got busted for drugs (BIG SURPRISE:laugh: ) I got to see Pete and the boys 2 more times that weekend. The Grail? Those beautifull long haired granny dressed women
that waited for them backstage. I was 21 at the time. I'm sure Christine
and Jenny were there.

I'd like such a live version even more with Bob Weston on banjo and of course someone to play the harmonica parts!
I've always liked 'The Derelict' ever since I bought "Penguin" in 1982.

Either the Munich Acid Tape or The Complete End of the Game Sessions... Think about it.... A 4 CD set of the whole all night jam session.

What's this "either" stuff - why not both! :D Wonder if the original tapes of the End of the Game sessions still exist though? Someone needs to go through the Reprise vaults and dig around!

Yeah, maybe we should start a petition! Might not work though? The label
Rhino are very good at compiling those type of compilations, Reprise/Warner themselves seldom bother.

Remember, people present at the sessions say that the best stuff didn't get on the album...

SteveMacD 03-11-2006 06:29 PM

In terms of my Holy Grail, there isn't much left on it. I guess full concerts from the "Penguin" and MTM groups are really all I need, at least in terms of boots. For years, the two things I really wanted were FG/BT era boots and Buckingham Nicks boots. Now, I've got some, so...

Jeremy's first "solo" album (really, a Fleetwood Mac album) would be nice, but I'm not paying $80 for the damn thing! Same goes for "Head West Featuring Bob Welch" or either of the first two solo albums from Bob Weston (which he hardly remembers!).
