Street Angel Deleted!!

I tried ordering SA a couple of weeks back, through an International EMI order - It came back as saying it is now deleted

I also remembered that Warners distributes SA in the states - and i rang Warners, and it is no longer avaliable through them either

So i guess that it is no longer printing it (Probably to some members relief :) )

I understand., when I was living in Australia, (over in Perth), It was like a complex operation to get a copy of Street Angel!!:( :distress: I ended up getting one from a very scary indonesian man on the street who had a ripped off bootleg copy from bali He had all kinds of bootleged stuff and I asked him if he could get me a copy of the stevie nicks album street angel, afew weeks later, I met him on the street again and we "made the exchange". Looking back, I should have asked for the Japaneese version! That is strange and terrible that Warner couldn't help. But then I love street angel, and think that it should be everywhere.

I can't imagine that this is true. So few CDs go out of print these days, especially ones from major popular artists. Street Angel may not be Stevie's best or most popular album, but it still went gold, and it's only a decade old.

Anyway, it's available on Amazon.

Amazon has a stock in there warehouses. I tried ordering through INTERNATIONAL which means EMI ordered from all there suppliers across the globe. I called EMI to ask what was going on, and they told me it, and i quote "Is no longer avaliable" - so wether EMI has no idea about there own product, or you are right

StreetAngel86 02-21-2006 09:01 PM

this blows ****

i must complain!

tynan88 02-21-2006 09:14 PM

I mean, I don't doubt your story, I just think there has to have been some kind of misunderstanding. It just doesn't make any sense to me why Warner/Reprise/EMI/whoever would completely discontinue this album. The only reason I could see for this ever happening is if they planning to reissue the album in a different form, although of there would have been an announcement about such a project, and Street Angel would be a very odd place to start.

Edit: As another possibility, I could see them possibly deciding no longer to distribute the album internationally, as I think it sold very poorly outside the US, but I just can't see it suddenly becoming unavailable in the States without warning.

I understand what you were saying, i hope i didn't come across as angry

As for EMI no longer distributing SA oversea's wouldn't work because I ordered it from oversea's - There are local orders which EMI would get from there own stock in NZ and Aussie, but I INDENT ordered SA, which means that they would get it from any oversea's EMI company which has it in stock - and they sent an invoice which came back as saying it was deleted, It would have said it was backordered if they were waiting on more stock, and now I can only assume that EMI are no longer distributing it

The only explanation I can think of that maybe they are reprinting SA with a different barcode/cat. number, which is quite possible  Or maybe SA is in the process of changing Record Companies, it could be changing to Warners, but maybe Warners NZ don't know about the change yet? I don't know, i'll keep you all informed

Have you tried Ebay ? I got mine from there about 2 months ago.

It's been deleted for years. Over 6 years or so now. It's readily available anywhere on the internet of course, but when it comes to ordering it from the record companies it 'aint gonna happen unless it gets reissued.

Great. I've never found it on this side of the ocean, and from the looks of it, I never will.

I ordered it for the store in December 2005, and received them

It's just the latest order that says it is now deleted

Sahara 02-22-2006 03:35 PM

That sucks. It's one of my favourite albums. The sad part is that a lot of the songs on it are not her own, but the ones that are are some of her finest.

I agree. I think Blue Denim and Rose Garden are some of her absolute best.

And I can't imagine too many people complaining if either returned to her setlists. Both came off really well live.

meh, whatever. Must be just this side of the world then. It's impossible to find in a record store. It's wayyyyy OOP.

chiliD 02-22-2006 04:30 PM

Well, there's always USED CD shops. It's rare that any CD shop I've been to that carries used CDs DOESN'T have at least two copies of it.

Bryan 02-22-2006 04:34 PM

yeah, even used CD shops it won't be found around these parts! I remember searching high and low years ago hoping it might turn up..eventually then when I got a credit card and the internet I got it. When it arrived I remember going ''FINALLY!!''.It felt like it took forever to track it down for so many years.

I'll let you in on a little secret...

Before I started to work in a CD store, i never could find the CD that i wanted, I, like you, had to do internet orders  But when i started working for one in late 2004 - I discovered that all you need to do is ask at the counter, and they should be able to order it for you  If not from a local company, they should indent it, which means they will order it from overseas suppliers, it will take maybe 1 - 2 weeks to arrive, but you will still get it

take this site for example:
http://www.realgroovy.co.nz/music/search/artistid/2076
This is a major record store in central Auckland, and they list the country beside the order - this means they will indent order it from this location - all you need do is ask at the front counter (If it is not in stock)

yeah I always used the HMV ask-at-the-counter-order for CD's they didnt have in stock.Always a dependable service:) But with 'Street Angel' though they'd type it up on their computer and all I'd get was: ''it's deleted''. And this was HMV,they import CD's from all over the world!
