So is Steph. ;)
No really, though, I thought this was wonderful and I think it shows so much, and she SAID so much. It also seems very mature to me, and I think it's obvious that she's been thinking a lot about this.
But yeah, I think it's probably the first time she's ever publically called herself "Steph." instead of "Stevie."
It's also, I believe, the first time she's ever mentioned John Kennedy in any way what-so-ever. I'm sure that must be very emotional for her (think about the timing...)
Anyway, overall, just absolultely wonderful... :)

desertangel 02-15-2006 01:20 AM

...(feeling left out because I bought a Samsung, not an iPod.)

Hmm... is that what her "friends" call her... Steph... ? Wasn't it her mom and dad that called her TeeDee?

Wild. She kept referring to Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks... like third person or something. Well, it's nice to know she has some of those same feelings about leaving home for weeks at a time. I feel that way, kind of, when I'm about to embark on a weeks long vacation. ... making sure the trash is dumped and the dirty underwear all picked up... you know, that kind of thing.

Really nice. Thanks for that Stevie. Or Steph. If that is your real name.

GODDESS6 02-15-2006 07:46 AM

awesome, i enjoyed the read~

Really. And who would be the "tree of my heart". Then again, maybe it's just a really cool-looking tree in her yard or something.

She just had to throw in the mysterious "tree of my heart" didn't she?

Does anyone know the specs on the iPods she gives away? Are they shuffles, discontinued minis, regular? I'm just curious for some reason.

...And Goodbye, Great Dark Wing..(oh wait- everyone knows who that is now!)...I mean, "tree of my heart"~
I will be right back~

She is a kind, giving woman. I mean she puts it where it counts and expects nothing in return.

The Tower 02-15-2006 11:22 AM

What I find interesting is this-

"So all that said, what we try to do on our visits, is to use our power to call back that charmed, childlike innocence~ and the answer to that, in my opinion~ is music. Music gives you the strength to keep moving. Music inspires you. Inspired people don’t stay down."

Doesn't this kind of conflict with her whole "why release a new album" comments?

Stevie, if you wanna call back all that childlike innocence, do us all a favor and get back in the studio. You're happy and healthy and we'd love to hear some new material.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. I also have been thinking that maybe no label will take her in the way she wants. I think Warner's was pissed at the relatively lackluster sales of SYW and the concerts, esp. after the advances they shelled out - ditto for TISL - though they each sold about 800,000 or so in the US, which is not bad, but those numbers hardly support the advances, etc. So, I think she will record in a smaller way. I also think she realizes the Mac is done for good in the area of any new material, though they may or may not tour again. I also think she sees 60 approaching and wants to quiet her life down. Who of us would not like to retire at 50 much less 60.

So, in the end, I can't say I blame her. By the same token, I would love any new material she can put forth.

tree of my heart

i believe she is referring to her journal of paper made from trees of which she pours her heart into

That was my first thought, too. Mick being tall and lanky, like a tree (especially to little ol' Stevie!). Reminds me of that "Friends" episode where Chandler goes to Richard's apartment to find Monica, and he calls him, "You big tree!"

And not Mick? That would be good. I would much rather believe your theory. It makes just as much sense anyway. :wavey: Of course she doesn't have to say "goodbye" to journals, though, as she probably takes them on the road with her. Who knows.

See your point. She's always been so aware of her fans and wanted to please them, she's always said they keep her going. Now this?

From the journal:
"We leave for Melbourne Australia tonight at 11:45. I got up at 10:00 today so I could have my quiet time on this, our last day in L.A. We will be back in 5 weeks. That seems like a long time to me now~ but as we all know…
Time is flying~"

I wonder if she flew down under on Qantas or was it a charter?

I don't know, I think Warner would keep produce her records, even only for the prestige, there aren't many legends left in the show business.

It's interesting though to put this entry and the Australian interview in perspective. It convinces me even more she's passing a very delicate moment in her life, and that finally, hopefully she would return to her need to make music to communicate... returning cycles, you know. ;)

Well, if it were me and I was pushing 60 I would want to produce some material while I'm still able to do it.

Sometimes I don't really understand Stevie and FM. Look at artists like Robert Plant and dinosaur bands like Styx and Journey- they are all chugging alont and releasing material. Robert Plant certainly doesn't need any money, so he's obviously doing it for the love of music. One would think that Stevie passion for her songs would prod her to record them. And if they're recorded, then it's just a hop, skip and a jump to release the material.

I dunno. I wonder if she's able to see the time passing and realizes what she losing by not recording another album(s)?

amber 02-15-2006 04:51 PM

I think she has a touch of Norma Desmond syndrome, or May West syndrome, or something.
ie - She wants to be like she was, and doesn't realize she has to change and adjust to her age and the time. You know - "I'm a STAR!"
Wait. I think I just said something really obvious. Oh well.
I was touched by her journal this time.

DWIG 02-15-2006 05:14 PM

Stevie has been around for a long time and is a wise and experienced woman. I relate to her expereinces at Arlington cemetry (I hve stood where she stood) and take my hat off to her for doing something to show support for humanity (not for American soldiers - as i live in the UK-or any other nations soldiers)

But, it is good to see Stevie putting her celebrity on the line and really standing for something. I think she will continue to do more of this stuff as she grows older.

Yes I think she will do that. Plus I think that she will work on some of those old ideas for extramusical projects, such as the spiritual autobiography, "The Last Fox of the Fox Hunt" & the photoplay of Rhiannon.

Well, I decide not to consider the high risk you're in a full ironic mood, saying that I'll be curious to see those projects done too.

Nobody takes me seriously. It's a great trial & tribulation. It drags my heart down. But yes, I really mean this. I think these old, old projects have begun to reassert themselves in Stevie's mind. I think she may be thinking, "Now may finally be the right time for some of them."

I haven't read "The Last Fox of the Golden Fox Hunt" or the "Dolphin & the Starfish" stories. Has anyone here read synopses of them? Stevie could probably release a trilogy of children's tales: the two above plus the "Goldfish & Ladybug."

One thing I'm not interested in is seeing Stevie's journals published--unless they are fairly revealing & covering the years 1975 to 1982. I would expect them from those years to remind me of reading De Quincey's "Confessions of an Opium Eater."

I think it's the Beaumarchais in you that could (very reasonably) make people doubtful.

I hope you're right, It would be very interesting to see how her writing change for a short story or book.

I must have missed De Quincey's Confessions, are they good? I don't know about her journals published though, besides the obvious voyeuristic aspect :o , they could be quite enlightining about the way she composes, about how her creativity works, I think.

I find it ironic that Madonna wrote a succesful series of children's books before the great poetess Ms. Stevie Nicks...I'll believe it when I see it. Love ya Steph :xoxo:

Somebody???

That was Stevie all the way, i.m.o.
She tells the webmaster (John) personally to put stuff up - or not to.
She's more active with that stuff than 'ya might think, I've heard...
And - SHE owns the site, and pays for it, I believe.
