Hello all,

Guess it's time to ask this question and was wondering if others would like to meet up for dinner before show because I think there are some restaurants around the arena we could go to or something before hand...now I'm getting really excited:blob2:

I am staying in the city, I am staying at Punt Hill Flinder's Lane, looks good. I am there Thrusday to Sunday then fly to Brissy stay with friend then fly back to Sydney on Tuesday then see Sydney show.

I wish I hadn't booked flights so early because I would love to drive to gold coast then back to newcastle and on to Sydney but I have no car nor time to plan now :(

I will be at the show and would love to meet up with you guys!

I'd be up for meeting up or whatever beforehand.

Wow - are you flying all the way from Pennsylvania? Or is PA abbreviated for someplace in Australia that I'm not aware of? Either way - you're all so lucky, I'm very jealous! Have a ball!

Yea we are flying all the way from Pennsylvania and staying for a 10 day vacation.... we are crazy :] but hey you only live once! We also have front row seats so how can we pass that up?? I am soo not looking foward to the long flight!

IM UP FOR MEETING EVERYONE!! I know that when stevie was here last time she went to some indian restaurant in southbank, so maybe that could be fun?

well im up for a pre show dinner in melbourne , we need a local to give us some tips now ,is there anything at the venue that we can book ?:thumbsup:

Okay... plan for Melbourne so far... :
Lets meet at the "Le Camera" at Southbank at 5:30pm ((The concert starts at 8pm, so that gives us plenty of time for a drink, a nice meal and a chat))

Le Camera, Southbank, is in the Southbank complex right in the heart of Melbourne... with views of the cityscape and Yarra river. I think its about a 10-15 minute walk (or short tram ride ;) ) to the Rod Laver Arena (concert venue)

If you like we can book the table tommorrow (under the name "The Ledgies :lol: ) Anyone interested please let me know ASAP so we know how many to book for!

Jayne ~ we googled restaurants in the area and tried to find a nice Indian one... we had a bit of trouble, but this one looked good. But if anyone would like to suggest another restaurant that they would like better that would be good too.

Let me tell you about that flight. I remember when I went it was the flight from L.A to Melbourne, 15 hrs. I fell asleep for like 5 hours, and I woke up and there I was still 5 hours away!! But I'm so happ for you that you're going. I love that spirit of traveling to se Stevie that you have. :thumbsup:

Well I am hoping to fall asleep for most ofthe flight because we will leave LA 10:30pm pst... so that is past my normal bed time considering the time differece. And another good thing is that we will land friday afternoon AUS time so if we can sleep it shouldnt be that bad. Maybe I will take some nitequil or something to knock me out :) If all else fails there is rum and coke!

I am also planning on taking my laptop, a few dvd's, and ipod loaded with stevie songs of course, and a book. That should keep me busy! It will definatley be interesting! :lol:

One thing I can tell you is that you will be amazed at how good the service is on QANTAS. At least I assume that's the airline you're flying.

Yea, I am pretty sure its QUANTAS. Its great to know that the service will be good -- they can just keep the rum and cokes going :)

Did most people sleep the whole time on your flight?

Well, I was in coach, on an aisle seat. That reminds me, make sure you request and Aisle seat if you are traveling in coach. At least you can move your legs a bit that way and be able to get up without having to disturb the other passengers. Yes, most people did sleep. With regards to the servie, we got a hot salmon dinner and a full breakfast with REAL:shocked: silverware too.

One of us has an aisle seat -- we can fight over it! ;)

The breakfast sounds good but I HATE salmon! Hope they have a diffrent selection for our flight! What time did you leave LA? We are in coach and the reservation says we get only get dinner.

Unfortunately no silver ware anymore I don't think...I think it is a terrorism thing :laugh:

i fly to usa from brisbane at least 2 times a year ,qantas is great,food is great ,get yourself really tierd the day before so you can sleep on the plane, youhave a personal entertainment centre on qantas now with a screen in the back of the seat with 12 movies to choose from and games etc, even a phone handset in your seat to call from the phone ,its 12 hours direct to brisbane from lax , so thats not too bad , biggest tip if you are flying economy class, take a really good pillow , the plane has really small crappy pillows , and drink lots of water ,are you just going to melb. concert ? let us know your plans , flights are really cheap within australia if you needto get around:thumbsup:

Thanks for the info and your help! The more I think about it the flight shouldnt be that bad if I sleep, have movies, and good service. I am going to try to bring a pillow in one of my carry-ons but things are going to be tight! Unfortunately Mel is the only show we are going to be able to go to because of our vacation plans. I'm just happy I get to see her with the orchestra! :)
