If you could talk with Stevie...

This could be a controversial topic. If you could meet Stevie Nicks, one on one, and ask her anything, and if she would truthfully answer with no BS...what would you ask her. Here is what I would ask:

1) Stevie, why did you do cocaine for 10 years? I don't blame you for using it, it was part of the rock culture at the time, even outside of rock...but every day for 10 years! You had to know it was bad for you, at least in the quantities you consumed. By your own admission, you tooted up the first thing in the morning and continued on that stuff the rest of the day. Why couldn't you quit? Did you even want to quit? Do you miss it now?

2) Stevie, why didn't you ever marry? No man was ever good enough for you? Or, no man wanted you?

3) Edit: a third question. Stevie, you'll soon be 58. How does a 70's hippy chick rock star cope with old age...not physically, but mentally? What are your words of advice to us?

I'm sorry if anyone finds this thread out of line or is upset with it. If you are, my apologies. But, those are my burning Stevie questions.

What would you ask Stevie?

JazmenFlowers 01-20-2006 11:27 PM

1 - what the hell are you saying during the musical interludes of Seven Wonders?

2 - what exactly is your driving force in life?

3 - what's Lindsey like in bed?

4 - can you rock out Rhiannon and just choose not to?

5 - why do you think the Frankenboks are appropriate stage attire?

6 - what do you really think of your fans; especially the gay element?

7 - what is your skincare routine?

8 - are you ever really gonna produce an autobiography?

9 - can I be your first male backup singer?

10 - what's your favorite picture of yourself and why?

Ghost_Tracker 01-21-2006 12:04 AM

1.) Can I please have backstage passes to ALL the rest of your shows, from now on, for free? And free limo service to and from?

2.) Paper or Plastic??? ( )

3.) Letterman or Leno?

4.) Is it true that you never learned to write sheet music? If that's so, then how do you possibly do what you do?

5.) Are there ever moments when you completely forget you're a "big rock star?" Like when you're reading, or watching tv, or just looking out the window at the scenery?

6.) What do you dream about when you sleep?

7.) Do you ever listen to the old Fleetwood Mac stuff? Do you ever listen to Rumours and wonder, "How the f. did we DO that!???"

8.) How would you feel if you came home and found Jessie smoking pot?
What would you say?

9.) Do you ever listen to music other than pop? Like classical? Jazz?

10.) Would you like cream and sugar with that???

and, of course, the IMPORTANT one - - -

11.) WHO'S the GUY!????

THINKABOUTIT 01-21-2006 12:24 AM

I think deep down we ALL have the same questions ;)

1. Who's the guy??!!
2. Why don't you add anyting new to your set lists from the HUGE works that you have? Are you aware of how NUTS your fans would go if you changed most of the set list?
3. What's Lindsay like in....all areas LOL :o
4. Tell us your top memorable moments with a fan
5. Why aren't the toutbooks better organized? Better pictures? etc...(I'd hate to be too blunt here, but I know you guys get me LOL)
6. Considering your lifestyle, was there no man really even almost good enough? (come on fellow ledgies...we all see how gorgeous she is in EVERY sense!! ;)
7. Do you plan to release another album? (we are dying for one!!)
8. What thoughts run through your head when you walk out onto the stage during tours??
9. Who is your favorite actor?/actress?
10. Do you ever think about all your fans who have converted their friends into fans?
11. Coffee?? :o
12. Besides "Bella Donna", what album would you say is your favorite?
13. WHen you were quoted in 2001 as saying: "You made a huge mistake Stevie" (regarding lindsay), did you really mean that?
14. What runs through your head when your fans are pushing and scratching trying to get up to the stage during "Edge of 17"??

***I loved this question!! good job guys!! good answers Jason and everyone else ;) I could go on with my questions for hours!!!!! ;)

Angelick Witch 01-21-2006 08:21 AM

Would you like to come shopping with me? And maybe go for coffee?

Then ask her all the other questions when she's distracted in the chiffon aisle.

SandyMac 01-21-2006 10:18 AM

1. What is your favorite color (other than black)

2. When is the Rhiannon Movie Project going to get finally completed and released or is the project just dead and not going anywhere?

3. When are you going to release your coffee table book of your drawings?

4. Why do you choose not to perform Sisters of the Moon in concert anymore?

5. Your thoughts on the very first time you performed BATB in Vegas on the audience reaction. (sidebar question: Did you take a photo of the Caesars marquee with your name on it?) I know I would. :D

6. Who was your favorite artist to duet with and who would you want to duet with now?

7. Will you ever write childrens books?

8. There are fans I am sure that would love to see you run for office like President someday... do you have plans in the future for any political aspirations to kick the world in the butt and back in line?

9. What if any Charity or Foundation would you set up for the wounded soldiers? Would you consider doing TV or radio PSA's to raise awareness of your charity or foundation?

10. What the hell are you muttering during the Mirage taping of Sisters of the Moon when you go all out in "speaking in tongues" Do you even know?;)

11. Do you forsee Jessie becoming a major rock star ?

12. Have you ever been freaked out from an obsessed fan during your Edge walk?

13. And of course as stated earlier, "Who's the Guy"?

Oh, I could really go on and on with this. I really like the question earlier about why Rhiannon does not rock out like in the past and what she would do if she caught Jessie with drugs. And yes, I would really love to know her skin care routine is.

It's called "rocking out." Nothing specific was said.

She discusses her skin care routine in a 1994 issue of a fashion magazine (Elle or Details or something).

1.) Did you tell FM that you were making belladonna? if so, did you tell them all together at a band meeting or individially? If not, how do you think they heard about it?

2.) Did you ever fire someone, or have someone fired, on your personal payroll for being brutally honest with you regarding your mental/physical health with regards to its impact on the quality of your work/performance?

3.) What kind of business offers have you declined (eg. movies, television, broadway)? Were any of them tempting?

THINKABOUTIT 01-21-2006 01:14 PM

1. Why don't you go crazy during "GDW" (like in The Dance) among other songs? You know how much we fans LOVE IT!!!

2. Does "TISL" have anything to do with the Shangri-La hotel, here in l.a.? (santa monica) THere was a rumor about that for a while ;)

3. What were you thinking the night you took the stage for "The Dance"?

4. What were you thinking when you lay down for the cover of "Say You
Will"?

5. What are your favorite stores to shop at? (local or not)

6. WE ADORE YOU!!! ;) No Questions Asked!!! (no pun intendd there LOL)

Rickypt 01-21-2006 01:14 PM

I'm not that curious about Stevie anymore. And she probably wouldn't like some of the questions. But I'd want to know:

1. Are you saying all the same-same, same game, same name, or saa--aame?

2. What were you feeling and what was going through your head the first time you played "Silver Springs" after so many years?

3. Why aren't you more adventurous with your setlist?

and the totally none of my business but really what I'm most curious about Stevie:

4. Have you been in a relationship with a woman?

She said in an interview once that during "the Klonipin era," she fired lots of people kinda randomly for very little or no reason, and feels badly about it now, and that it was mostly a result of the drug and how she was feeling at the time. So - I think maybe the answer would be, "yeah!"

My guess is Stevie is a difficult person to work for as part of the personal staff. She probably pays the staff more than they're worth...so has bought this loyalty. Just my opinion.

COULD be wrong, of course, but I have the impression that if that was ever true, it no longer is . . . . I think she probably only keeps people around her that she likes very much and respects (for example, Karen) and just kinda lets people "do their thing." I really do have the impression that she's gotten to the point where her attitude is, "Life's too short to have a temper tantrum over green jellybeans not being removed from the bowl in my 5 star luxury hotel by the time I got in to town." I suppose it's not a laugh a minute, but I really strongly suspect that she has things down to "smooth sailing" at this point. It's just not worth the energy.

3. What do you think of fans who dress like you all the time or are obsessed with you in some way (not talking about stalkers, just very ardent fans)?

4. Would you like to live forever?

5. Do you REALLY believe in angels?

7. What scares you or gives you nightmares?

8. For what cause, if any, would you die?

9. What or who makes you laugh?

10. Money, beauty, or brains (for herself, not in another person)?

Most of these are a little dark... but I'd like to hear her answers.

I remember this being asked by a caller on Rockline sometime in the early 80's. The caller basically said "there are rumors that you're a witch and I'm wondering if it's true."

Stevie responded by first saying that people should not believe rumors and that anytime we want to know the truth we should just ask her. I believe, but not positive, that she said specifically that we should call her. I remember thinking well, give me your number then.

Then she said she was sad about these rumors and that no, she's not a witch.

I'd love to get a transcript of that.

After twenty some years of being asked this nonsense, Stevie finally exploded at someone and uttered this now classic line..."I'm not a witch....get a life" :D This was way before the "get a life" phrase became overused. Who knows...maybe Stevie invented that phrase.

Well, I'm not surprised at that. I would guess most of her current "lovers" are 20 years younger than her. Sadly, IMO, they are just after money or connections.

Anybody ever see the 1950's movie "Sunset Boulevard" with Gloria Swanson, about the aging film star...that's almost where Stevie Nicks is at today. (Hey, I still like her music)

So where _is_ Emmeline?

JWS 01-22-2006 11:18 AM

Unless I missed it no one asked:

Stevie, where did you get the big ring you were flashing at the Melbourne races? And, why were you flashing it?

And this question:

Stevie do you ever drive a car?

(I read somewhere her drivers license expired and she never bothered to renew it because the DMV takes lousy photos! I can attest to that!)

JWS 01-22-2006 08:00 PM

I have one more question, but don't want to start a thread so I'll stick it here. Of course its none of our business, but there is no harm in speculating. Ever wonder how much money Stevie earns in a year? I mean net profit after paying all the help, agents, publicity people, secretaries, clothing design, etc.....

I know it varies depending on whether she is touring or is releasing a new record. From what I can figure out she has three sources of income (I'm not counting investments, if any). Royalties from old FM records, royalties from her solo records, and touring. (I'm not going to count bat mitzvas, that was an aberration.) The records are not selling huge numbers anymore, and I don't yhink there is much profit in touring, it's done more to promote a new CD.

I could be way off base, but I figure she averages $1 million or less before taxes. A big number for sure, but not by Hollywood standards where movie stars pull in $10 million per film and some pro athletes make $20 million per year.

Anybody have ideas on this?

It's right up there with "Play it again, Sam" as one of the most famous movie misquotes.

There's tons of profit in touring, especially at the prices Stevie charges (and especially when she just shacks up in Vegas for a couple weeks and doesn't have to pay anyone to fly her and her band around, or disassemble and reassemble her set every night).

Most artists make nearly all of their money from touring; it's the albums which don't bring in that much profit. Stevie's Gold Dust tour isn't promoting any CD release. And the Say You Will tour wasn't done in promotion of the new album. On the contrary, the album was released in part as an excuse for the band to tour.

As far as royalties, you're forgetting, she gets paid not only when people buy the albums, but also when her songs are played on the radio. And that's not only performing royalties, but also songwriting and publishing royalties. Songs like "Dreams," "Gypsy" and "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" are still pretty prominent radio staples in certain formats (and she'll also pull in some royalties if anybody actually bothers to play Ms. Lohan's cover of "Edge of Seventeen"), so I imagine she doesn't do too poorly for herself in that area either.
