When is Stevie releasing her Best-Of Album?

As we all know Stevie is going to be releasing a Best-Of Album (hopefully with a couple of new songs  ) to tie in with her Australian Gold Dust Tour. Well, the thing is, the tour starts a month from today, and I have yet to hear anything about it from the NicksFix or any other news sources. Has anyone heard anything or can anyone speculate about this? My assumption was she would release the album in late January/early February to get fans excited about the tour, and to get "the word out" so to speak, but I guess that isn't the plan... So everyone, let the ideas pour in.

I have no idea, but I thought, like you, that they would want product in the stores for when she hit's these cities.

Maybe they will be late to the table and product will show up a few months after she's left... Wouldn't want to strike when the iron is hot... That wouldn't be right:rolleyes:

DavidMn 01-18-2006 07:16 PM

To be honest, I'm not sure I'lleven buy it. I probably have all the songs that are going to be on it already anyway.

JWS 01-18-2006 07:17 PM

How will this albumn be different from the last one Time&Space? Different versions of the same songs?

I would certainly hope that if her people want to increase sales, that it will vary at least somewhat.

Janis_no1 01-18-2006 07:20 PM

Oh my goodness, i have to buy it!! Have to have to, maybe for the chance to see some new pics of her... even if they are from 10-15years ago that she will use for the front cover...

Im excited for it to be released and yes it would make commercial sense to release it nowish though i haven't heard about it either. Maybe its not going to happen till mid late year which is a shame as yes she will miss out while the iron is hot.

Has this been officially confirmed by someone other than Stevie herself (since we all know what a reliable source she is ;))? I don't mean to sound pessimistic I just don't want to get my hopes up.

I would only buy it if the versions of the songs were different than the ones previously released (and remastered doesn't count) or if there is new material. Even then I may just buy the mp3's online or DL them from here.

Personally, if there are no new songs on the album, I will just buy it for the album art, which knowing Stevie, should be pretty good.

I was going to ask the same thing. Did she even say it was going to be released? I can't remember.

Well, from what I've heard from others, she really isnt promoting this release, like this is more of a record company thing than it is her idea.

Which would mean it'd make even more sense for it to be released while she's touring, if she's not too interested in promoting it for itself.

Is this silly release Stevie's final commitment to Reprise?

Maybe she's doing the label switcheroo.

September of 1991.

ShangriLaTroubl 01-20-2006 02:23 PM

Well it probably wont be much different, as TVBOFM wasnt much diff, but it still sold...A lot of ppl dont have Timespace anymore likely, since that was almost 16 yrs ago..and while it's still in stores..have a "new" best of, would increase sales, and would be very cheap to make

Chris

Zuh? At least in the US, The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac is a two-CD affair with 36 tracks, compared to the 16 tracks which comprised the single disc Greatest Hits from 1988. That's a difference of twenty songs.

And even the single-disc UK Very Best of has nine tracks that weren't on the UK Greatest Hits from '88 (which in turn has five tracks that didn't make it onto the new disc).

At any rate, a new Stevie Best of will at the very least be different in that it will surely include at least one track from Street Angel (Blue Denim?) and probably several from Trouble in Shangri-La (Every Day, Sorcerer, Planets of the Universe? maybe Fall From Grace?). Also, a new Best of would likely (hopefully) not include the three songs that were new on Timespace (which, by the way, Stevie, is a really ****ty name for an album, even a retrospective).

sorry you feel that way...I think it's a great name, but then I guess I would, wouldn't I?

I love hearing Stevie talk about it as your "space in time" -

Truly a brilliant etymology indeed.

I'm sure most us of question the idea that songs like Family Man, Skies the Limit, and No Questions Asked truly represent the "best" of Fleetwood Mac. Thank god they saved those songs for last, like horses in a parade.

I wonder what tosh they'll use to pad out Disc Two on this compilation?

Let's all just move to Utah. Seems like a fair solution to me. :woohoo:
