I've been robbed...by COCA COLA

So, I filmed a 30 second clip for a Coke commercial about 2 years ago. I was told it never got picked up and wouldn't be used. Well, a friend told me that it has been airing (or seems to be airing) on the USA Network during primetime. So, I'm gonna have to watch USA to see if it is being used 'cause a bitch ain't got a check for it.

can you describe the commercial for us?

JazmenFlowers 01-18-2006 12:59 PM

I don't remember the scripted part, but I'm holding a coke bottle and saying something about whenever I get thirsty (the rest is a blank). I was standing in front of a big silver and red flag. I drink the coke and of course do the refreshing "ah" part. Then the other part that was filmed was me dancing holding the coke bottle on the same stage. That's all I remember.

strandinthewind 01-18-2006 01:33 PM

 residuals are the bomb!!!!

If you had an agent, call them and have them update Coke on your info. and make sure they did not "forget" to send you your due. Otherwise, call Coke's production team and be sure they have your current information. If that fails, I am seeing you in a red power thigh high business suit giving someone hell in Atlanta about this - please call be to film it :wavey:

Hey, if they want their money to support Coke and Pepsi, more power to them. But I would hope that they're at least aware of the disgusting things both companies do.

They like to hire mercenaries and various other thugs to kill unionists in South America. The guy that's running for governor here in MA was Coca Cola's corporate secretary, executive vice president, and general counsel when all of this first came down.

What's going on there with all these Republicans becomin oficceholders? IU thought Massachusetts was a more liberal state. Actually here in Minnesota too that is happening. We're known as a famously liberal state but We've had Republican governors for 4 out of the last 5 administrations.

The Republicans run as fiscal conservatives and social liberals. It worked with Weld and people assumed it would with Romney since he went all over lying to people about what he'd do as governor, but then he got into office and people wised up. He never would have won re-election and Deval Patrick is going to win, but he leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Even if he's as liberal as they come, which he is.

Oh I see. BTW I thought of you today when I saw this story about Ted Kennedy renouncing his membership in the Owl club, which does not permit women in it. This after ripping Alito for a similar membership in a male only group while he was at Princeton. OOPS TED, got a little egg on yer face there?

Any scoop on this?

Certainly call your agent. If this is airing nationally, I will assume you are SAG. You need to call them immediately if you are indeed being aired without compensation. They will help you. **** man, you pay them to take care of this type of ****.

Who was the advertising company that produced the spot?

That kinda sucks if that's true. That clip is probably the property of Coca Cola at this point so you probably can't do anything about it if they have the masters.

Not true, unless when he did this, they did a buy out.

I thought coke was a southern thing... their headquarters is in Atlanta. Does it get more southern than that?

diamondsnake 01-22-2006 09:24 PM

Everyone down her drinks Coke, not Pepsi. But to me Coke is not a southern thing. Iced Tea is a southern thing. That's all I drink!

It depends. If the "tape" or clip was sent in to Coca Cola, they're smart enough to have some disclaimer about it becoming their property. It's like if you send a tape to MTV to be on Road Rules or Real World, they put it out there that they "reserve the right" to use those tapes at their discretion.

Dumb question: Where are Pepsi's headquarters?

Upstate New York? Not sure, though.

I prefer Pepsi over Coke and I'm a transplanted Yankee.

Remember the "Don't f*ck with me fellas!" Pepsi board of directors scene from "Mommie Dearest"? I think they were in New York.

Semi-seriously though, they are currently headquartered in Purchase, NY.
Pepsi Company Info

And for the record. I'm not much of a soda pop drinker. But if I must choose, Coke all the way. Pepsi is way too disgustingly sweet.

LOL - I knew someone who was in the room in the actual meeting. He was HYSTERICAL and always had hookers around at like age 80+ - much to the chagrain of his 40 something year old third wife ee poo  He said Joan was actually very nice as could be expected about the whole thing and she got her way in the end via a financial settlement.

I gotta write a book one day!!!!
