Lindseys long coat

I was watching a BeeGee's concert recently..(yes, I know, not really relevent, on a Lindsey board...but...)and remarked about how fab Maurice had looked in his long black coat...Anyway, I was told, that at some point during the Dance tour (or was it at the Grammys for that year..1997-1998?) LB wore a coat onstage very similar...I've never heard that before! Does anyone have pics?

mylittledemon 01-11-2006 07:24 PM

Yeah that coat was friggin cool! I would've asked him "WHAT is dat? Velvet?!"

tuigirl 01-12-2006 06:14 PM

Yep..it was a super looking coat ( on Maurice)...I don't see any other replies to my query...perhaps I should ask John on his Q&A..or interrogate my informer for some more facts.Demon, aren't you going to study down under soon? Feb?

I dunno. I remember having that Grammy clip on my old laptop...its was pretty cool...... but I dont think you could see the length of the coat until LB was strutting around at the end of Go Your Own Way.

You are on many missions.

I have to dig up a photo of me wearing a long, black suede jacket and underwear. I was at the beach and was attacked by a wave. Off went my jeans.

It looked a lot like the coat he wore in the photo on the back of Tango In The Night.

dontlookdown 01-13-2006 03:47 PM

it sounds very 80's to me.

In a wincing sort of cringing kind of way.

It was actually really cool. We were all entranced by the Long Velvet Coat for months afterwards. He looked like a sex bomb.

Where are the pictures??

Okay. Personally, I thought it looked like something a kid who was going to pull out a gun and kill his class mates would wear.

Sorry its kinda blurry. I had to resize it, or else it would have been microscopic. The video player i was working with was really messed up. But yeah.

ReFleetwoodMac 01-13-2006 04:24 PM

I also took video of the computer screen since everyone seems to be against simply going to throwndown.net and watching it, but the file won't load onto my computer. This is a nice dark silhouetted shot of it.

Have you watched the clip? He looks mighty, mighty, mighty fine jamming around on stage in his long coat. Oh yes. It should be his new stage wear. Out with the white blouse, bring on the long coat for the next tour. :D

There's a clip? Where?!

EDIT: OK, just read back those and worked out it was on throwndown.net. Obviously. :o What can I say? It's late and I'm tired!

LOVE the coat.

johndoe 01-13-2006 10:41 PM

The clips over on www.throwndown.net.

He sounds HORRIBLE, though. I dunno what it was. His voice was like. Too low. Or sometime.

I happen to like the "duster" or "long coat" look....its reminiscent of the Marlboro man or Clint Eastwood before he got his poncho
I believe it was The Good, The Bad, The Ugly........the last of the trilogy but the one that explains the poncho in the other two....go figure. (I believe his duster was a cavalry coat from the Union regiment, but Im sure a movie buff can confirm/deny)

anyway, its the ultimate "ride the range," "loner" kinda gear. now I gotta go out and get one for meself. sheesh.

lucky me! I found a picture of an actual Civil War coat:
http://www.civilwarpreservations.com.../SpearsRev.jpg
but I actually prefer this look:

I know the one you are talking about. Was it the Brit awards, maybe? It looked great on Lindsey. It was black and looked almost like velvet.

A great western that features long trench coats (and at least three sets of brothers) was The Long Riders, from 1980. Here's a pic

I am completely confused now... Was Lindsey going around wearing a Clint Eastwood-alike Civil War coat? (Was Clint Eastwood weaing a Civil War coat? I only remember the poncho)

Only contribution I can think of making to this interesting, but Lindsey-In-Sexy-Long-Coat-Picture lacking thread would be to mention that gorgeous long coat he wears in the Slow Dancing video... *drooooool...* (Which, I've just found out, was nominated for "Best Special Effects in a Video", "Best Editing in a Video" and "Most Experimental Video", all three along with Go Insane, which was also nominated for "Best Cinematography in a Video", in the 1985 MTV Video Music Awards. So there you go. And why are results from over 20 years ago up on MTV's site...?)

Sexy!!

irishgrl 01-14-2006 02:51 PM

No, Lindsey wasnt wearing a civil war coat, my post went from: I like that look, it reminds me of Clint Eastwoods coat, to finding pictures of what he wore, and what I actually like. In The Good The Bad, The Ugly, Clint Eastwood wore (for a short time) a civil war era long coat. in one scene, he comforts a dying soldier by giving him a last cigarette and covering him with his long coat and taking the poncho instead. The weird thing is, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly was supposed to be the last of the trilogy, but he wore that poncho in the first two movies.........go figure........

I _see_.... All becomes clear to me now! Sorry about that! :o

And that is an exceptionally good picture of Lindsey in a long coat... Even with the fact he looks like he only has one leg in it. Just shows he can pull off anything!

Pull off wearing a coat while looking like he has only one leg .... or pull off the actual leg?

That's good too, I guess.

Sarah 01-17-2006 05:18 PM
