Need advice on London flat

I'm going to be venturing back over the pond this year (perhaps May or so) and would like to know what everyone thinks of this apartment. I'll be staying for 2 weeks or so...maybe longer, don't know yet. Anyways, does this sound like a terrific deal? I cannot find anything near Pimlico for a decent price. I don't want to stay at Days Inn again. I liked it, but it was insanely small. Here, you get a kitchen, washer, dryer, microwave, stove, big bed, etc.

All opinions welcome!

I havent done that sort of traveling much, staying for 2 weeks at a time in an apartment so I dont think I'm qualified to say whether or not its a good deal, but I like the layout of the place.

after seeing Hostel, I don't think I want to do any of this kind of travel any time soon

DavidMn 01-10-2006 04:20 PM

Actually, the 2 times I've been to London, I stayed in Notting Hill in a small but lovely little hotel called the Bayswater Inn.:)

wondergirl9847 01-10-2006 04:49 PM

David...

I've only been to the Notting Hill area once, and we only went into a few record shops. LOL I'd love to go back and see more of the area. :)

I found a cheaper place actually. I am seriously considering it instead so I can put my $$$$ towards buying gifts for my family/friends....and myself. ;)

I keep thinking that this trip will be a lot more fun because I "know" the area sort of now and am not afraid to walk by myself if need be. My mom told me the other day I was obsessed with England because I wanted to buy a photo book. I've been obsessed with it since I was a pre-teen. :)

Hostel...no way would I stay in a hostel. No offense to those who have stayed in one, but no.

There are some damn fine places to eat there too.I remember this fish resturant, it was called Geals. Fantastic fish n chips!!

That's beauuuuuuuuuuutiful, Christy!!

I recommend you consider the Dorchester, too! Are you going to visit Seteca?

wondergirl9847 01-10-2006 08:04 PM

David...

The Dorchester is gorgeous (as are tons of places I've considered), but a little too pricey for me. I can't decide if I want to go for 10 days, 2 weeks or more than 2 weeks. LOL

Yep, I'll be visiting Seteca and also Madformac, and hopefully any other London-area Ledgies I can! I'm hoping I can go when Tan-Hauser Gate will be doing lots of shows so I can see them as much as I can. :)

BTW, that second picture of Stevie in your sig is gorgeous. LOL at the Welch Bitch!! I kind of/sort of have my hair like that right now....two different colors (my original dark brown plus the now-fading blondish highlights I put in about 6 weeks ago  ).

That sounds fun. I wish I could go see Tan-Hauser Gate. Madformac never wrote me back, & Seteca never wrote me to begin with!

thanks! I bought it at a record convention about twenty-five years ago at the Lincoln Hotel on Sunset Boulevard. Here's a big scan of it:

I'll reprimand both of them immediately.

I'm lucky if Seteca emails me once a week. LOL I know the guys are super ridiculously busy and stuff.

David, check your PM's.

I've never been over but that place looks great. I hope you have a wonderful time. :)

tommer 01-11-2006 07:46 AM

christy, i hope you don't mind me asking, but if you don't travel much, what's your point in going to london again? don't get me wrong, london is great, but why would you wanna explore the same place twice? there are many cities in europe you may find more interesting, more beautiful, and of course alot cheaper than london. if you're already making the effort of flying, maybe you should consider sparing some of your time there and continue to paris or amsterdam that are quite close, and easy to get to from london.

wondergirl9847 01-11-2006 01:09 PM

Tommer...

I want to go see Tan-Hauser Gate and of course, visit my friends again. :) That's my main reason.

Also, I'm obsessed with England. LOL There was a smidgen of time when we were going to venture over to Paris, but it just didn't work out. :( I also wanted to go to Vancouver, Canada 5 years ago, but that trip fell through and is still on my agenda. I'd love to take a jaunt on up to Ireland too, that would rule!

Also, I don't have a travel buddy and since I know someone in London, I feel safe there. If I had a travel buddy, I'd go to more places in Europe. Preferably, someone who speaks lots of languages. LOL

If you do consider to make it a couple of days in Amsterdam, I'd be happy to show you around for a day.

that flat looks great. Look out for cheaper things. I stayed in a disgusting shack when we saw the mac there. Was part of the fun though. But so gross I even skipped breakfast there.....

Huh, tell me about it. I have actually stayed at hostels before when I was younger and travelling around (makes me really not want to watch that movie btw) and each of them was more disgusting than the other, but somehow I still had a blast every trip I made. Go figure.
