The Purple Place
Is it acceptable to go around the Stevie Nicks forum constantly spouting your wishes to mate with the great Nicks? Or if not to mate, then just your unconditional attraction to her, despite not giving any time to get to know her music or other, non-hotness qualities. That seems to be the absolute norm in this forum so I wondered whether or not the one who is more publicly recognized for being attractive, is allowed to be treated as an object anywhere near as much as the unpopular, freak of the band is. Perhaps the forum in question is the proper place to go to ask, but I'm frightened.

At least she tries to lead us to believe she likes more than his hotness. That's something. All these are just from one thread. You try to convince any regular Ledgie that any of these aforementioned people are Lindsey fans and not dedicated chiffon heads. Go on. You will not be successful. Just face it, Ambah. Sesly. Nanny, nanny, nanny. |
I gave you the challenge of trying to convince regular Ledgies that they are actual Lindsey fans and not dedicated chiffon heads. What more do you want from me, woman?
|
Wow.
Well, everyone knows I'm not a chiffonhead. I'm a Buckhead. LOL I'm gonna post anyways.
I didn't even know what Lindsey looked like when I first heard his music, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised when I saw his pic. ;) Lindsey is hot on his own, but when he plays live or I put on headphones and really listen to his singing, he's the most beautiful person in the world to me at that moment. :) |
barf.
on any thread about (non)-appreciation of looks. barf barf barf. |
Why I think it's splended! Wether you wanna bang Stevie, bang Lindsey, have Steve and Lindsey bang each other, or any type of banging combination including the two, what it all comes down to is record sales. They sell records and we get to enjoy them! So maybe I don't know anything about guitars or music techniques, what I do know is that when he's on stage the top buttons of his soft white shirt are undone as to get a glimpse of the glistening sweat beads forming on his warm tan chest, the dark curls on his head moving and swaying with the music induced thrust of his body, the way his fingers powerfully roam about the strings of that guitar as if he were charging them on a full attack upon every inch of a womans body, the way he stands out of breath after playing, his chest gasping for air in and out in and out as though it were about to bust through that sweat drenched white shirt at any moment, and his eyes a peircing color blue so deep one slight glance from them could bring you to your knees........
Any who, based on that you can bet I'll be first in line to purchase his new works, hell, he could come out with a pan flute album and I'd buy that. Perhaps when I do next in line to me will be a strictly music appreciator, and perhaps we could nod at eachother as if to say "Thankyou friend" because with out eachother, neither of us would be there. |

The question was not implying that people should not fawn over him, but was about the purple place, and what behavior is acceptable over there. Amber's comments got us a little off track and onto me trying to prove that chiffon heads come over to drool over him, and don't care nearly as much about his tunes. Don't let her get to you too.

the purple section of the boards is the easiest one, no special tactic qualities are needed there, unlike the blue section, or (god forbid!!!) the green section (brrr.....).
in the purple section everything goes, you can ridicule stevie's stage persona, laugh at sales figures or some of her not-so-good materials, or state your mind about her appearance, whether you find it desirable or not. maybe it's due to the fact that the purple ones are less likely to suffer form inferiority complexes. |

P.S. I haven't been cruising this forum as much anymore. I just realized the posts Bobo referenced came from a picture thread. I see now why he is so puzzled. Everyone knows photos of Lindsey should be appreciated in a purely musical way. We can admire the curve of his guitar, its lovely strings. If he is not holding one, we can find other ways to comment on the photo's quality without bringing up appearance. We can comment on how aesthetically pleasing the contrast of black and white is in some, or how the nice blue hues of another match his eyes (in a purely non-lustful way, of course). There, that's not so hard, is it?

I don't know what the hell anyone is talking about.

Though the whole thing does in truth annoy me, I will again reiterate that this thread is not about the objectification of Lindsey Buckingham. I am not trying to change the use of this section of the forum by forbidding those certain people from entering. It might save many a Lindsey fan some time and eye-rolling to not have to read those posts, but that is not my place to decide what the chiffon heads do with their posting ability. So while I am a bit concerned and I would act as a humanitarian if I felt myself worthy, I am not doing that at this time.

Hehe
Just wanted to say that calling that "The Purple Place" and this "The Blue Place" cracks me the frick up.

I'm against the giant rush of the chiffon heads over to the blue place purely to whistle and bark at Lindsey, for sure. And it is a worthy cause. Although it should stay out of this thread, since there was already a seperate reason for the thread. The debate of free speech vs. annoyed Shut Us Down lovers is far too alluring to exist within a thread about something else and have the original question still be answered. Everyone saw how many posts consisted of people defending the rights of those who wish to come in occasionally to drool. And they came from simply misinterpreting the original post. I am eager to find out what the reaction will be when there is a whole thread devoted to harshly scolding and mocking the droolers. Oh maybe I should just give up the fight of keeping this thread on course and encourage the inevitable.

I happen to like his music (I think the man's a freakin Genius) but I actually find Stevie's music easier to listen to. Sometimes her phrasing gets to me, how she doesnt actually fit into any set rhythm....and she makes the music fit her lyrics which is a bit unusual but she's managed to find artists/producers who will work with her, so good for her :) |

Except this bit, of course. This speaks to me!; Quote:
Anyway, this thread seems rather judgemental. I think everyone here is more or less, or should be more or less, equal, as we are all Fleetwood Mac fans under Fleetwood Mac. And if some of us find this is the only place to drool over Il Buckingham without getting nasty comments from people who only hear "56 years old" or "afro" or something, then that should be OK, and they can all talk to each other, and then people who want to talk about deep musical issues, and treat a band as purely something that doesn't need _people_, with the sole function of making music, can all talk to each other too. And there'll probably be time when we can _all_ talk to each other, and times for middle ground and all that. But as far as I know, no one's forcing anyone to read anything. |
