What are you doing New Year's Eve?

Do you have any plans? I am going with a friend of mine to Boston. We are leaving early Saturday morning and going to try to check into the hotel when we get there. We have dinner plans and we also have a reservation at 10PM for another restaurant and we can stay there until midnight. We will most likely check out first night in between time.
We will walk around Boston on Sunday and have dinner in the afternoon and head back home at night.
Sounds really exciting, huh?

tynan88 12-26-2005 07:32 PM

Sounds better than my plans...I got none yet :(

WildInTheWind 12-26-2005 08:01 PM

My plans are to either stay at home with Olivia or sit by myself at the private party of old people that my fiance's band is playing at. :o Fun huh?

GODDESS6 12-26-2005 08:53 PM

just spending the evening w/ the hubby & son, enjoying some cocktails & fine tunes~

jannieC 12-26-2005 08:54 PM

Nothing. I hate New Year's Eve. It's just such a contrived, forced thing. You aren't really celebrating anything. And the aura of forced merriment is just annoying. The pressure to HAVE FUN is just too much for me. Ever since I stopped trying to enjoy New Year's Eve, I have really enjoyed New Year's Eve. We usually go over to my mother-in-law's for dinner, then come home and watch TV. :)

Serendipity 12-26-2005 08:56 PM

I'm going to a party in a barn! My friends band (classic rock covers etc) are playing, they got heating, a bar and a room full of bikers. Colour me happy. Its a pointless holiday, but I like me a party! :)

NYE is the one night of the year that I DON'T want to be out and about.
An early dinner is what we usually do - Ruth's Chris or our favorite Italian place - we are home before 10 and usually asleep well before midnight.
I wake up the next day feeling MUCH better than most people I know...invite everyone over and make pork chops, black eyed peas and corn bread.

Happy 2006, everyone! :xoxo:

I am working. It is usually good money so I do not mind. :D After I am done, I will come home and hang out with my kids, who like to bang pots and shoot off bottle rockets with their Dad. I do not like to drink and party so it is no big deal for me to work or stay home. I went up to NY city one year and I friggin hated it. The crowds, the drunks, the shoving...it was insane. Not my thing at all. :(

I never wanted to be out and about on NYE, either. Too many drunks. If I'm gonna celebrate it, I like to go to a friends house, or have friends over to my house for cocktails and cards. If I have too many drinks, I can stay put!

JazmenFlowers 12-26-2005 11:04 PM

Going to Memphis to a "Back to Studio 54" party.

tommer 12-27-2005 03:36 AM

i'll stick with tradition, which means going with my friends to a trance party and popping some acid.

Brwn_eyes0511 12-27-2005 05:50 AM

getting drunk.

ryan8472 12-27-2005 07:59 AM

I don't know. I have to wait and see what the rest of my friends are doing. That is if they invite me. :p

I'm taking my mother out for dinner. She's requested we go somewhere with cloth, not paper, napkins.

Livia 12-27-2005 11:50 AM

I'll probably end up at the Patricia Vonne, Reckless Kelly, Joe Ely concert. :)

skcin 12-27-2005 12:21 PM

Dinner at Adam's with my best friend & her husband. It's an annual tradition for us, we've been going for about 7 or 8 years now.

After that - no clue. We always end up at a house party, we're never out at a bar at midnight or anything. This year's party fell through, so that house party may end up at my house.

From the looks of things, we'll be going to my in-laws' for a Xmas redo. My mother-in-law went in the hospital on Christmas Eve, and is still in. They thought she was having heart problems, but it turned out to be a huge ulcer. Needless to say, my husband has been worried since she went in...plus this was his first Xmas without seeing his parents. :(
At least my daughter will be happy...more presents.

macfanken 12-27-2005 08:12 PM

I'm gonna party like it's 1999.

With supply of non-perishables, gas mask, and shotgun? You never know when that nuclear war might start.

catinthedark 12-27-2005 10:57 PM

Something with my very best friend... as it will be her second-to-last day here before she moves away. :( We're not sure - we just know we'll be partying together, and with a few of our other good friends. Having one last ass-kickin' great time together! :woohoo:

New Year's Day, another party - a daytime drop-in once we've recovered from the night before. This one may be the one where the tears flow. :distress:

It was for me. I got to stand right in front of Stevie at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas for 2 hours, that is after having stood in line outside for 10! But it was more than worth the wait!!!

I was thinking of falling into a downward spiral of self loathing because I don't have any superfun plans on this very important night THAT YOU MUST HAVE FUN ON. We'll see how the evening goes. But seriously, NYE is kind of a pain in the butt holiday. Everything's all crowded, the roads are dangerous, etc. Private parties are best.

Didn't you get the memo? ;) Maybe I'll call you at midnight - wait, it will be 9pm by you, so maybe not.

I was out and about in Boston. It was sort of quiet, I mean relatively speaking. All those "warnings" were bunch of ****e to sell news. Although we did joke around about attacks as everyone was doing. This was also before we were ever actually attacked in such a heinous way as 9/11 so it didn't really seem possible. Anyway, I had a blast with my now roommate. We went to a club and paid a rediculous cover but it was really fun - a Mardi Gras theme.

This year will be quiet. I am going to the Cape to a house party. Its going to be fun though, I know it! Good peeps.
