Jon Brion
I know Jon Brion is a fan of the Tusk album and wondered if Lindsey was a Jon Brion fan.
JB plays a lot with Benmont Tench and his sound often reminds me of Lindsey. They are both studio geniuses. Wouldn't it be great if they recorded together? |

I'm sure Lindsey just can't stop spinning the new Kanye album... |
knowing Lindsey's taste, I'm sure he'd be a great collaborator with Jon.
they share so much in terms of appreciation - Beatles, Radiohead, etc. i also know they would connect politically and sometimes that's all it takes for two artists to get along. if you ever get a chance to see Jon at Largo in LA, you'll be reminded of Lindsey after a song or two. He's there every Friday night and it's easily one of the best things to do in town. |
They're both quite masturbatory. I can't imagine the two of them actually collaborating and making a joint effort.

he's a singer/songwriter/guitar/piano/percusion player/producer extraordinaire who has produced for:
fiona apple (her masterpiece When The Pawn) aimee mann rufus wainwright beck eels kayne west david byrne rhett miller elliot smith brad meldau he often plays with Matt Chamberlain (the drummer that made parts of Trouble In Shangri-La so great) and he's scored soundtracks for I heart Huckabees, Magnolia, Eternal Sunshine, etc. but above and beyond all that he has an amazing command of music and often belts out extraordinary covers of Brian Wilson, Bob Dylan and Lennon/McCartney tunes. He does a mean Bohemian Rhapsody - and aside from that he's hard to describe. He and Rickie Lee Jones often sing together without rehearsing on random Friday nights in LA. He's a force to be reckoned with. A rare talent indeed... |
hmmm according to that list he could not have slipped my attention. and when i saw that "eels" mention a vague bell rinkled. but he escaped my harddisk though....

well, if you listen to his album "Meaningless" or any of the songs he co-wrote with Aimee Mann (I'm With Stupid album is excellent), then you would consider him a singer/songwriter.
|
The more I think about it, the more I think I'd like it if he and Stevie got together for an album. Am I allowed to say that on Lindsey's board?
I love the stuff he's done with Aimee Mann. I think the days of Lindsey collaborating with another producer are over. The clash of egos would register on the Richter scale. ~Jamie |

I doubt that would ever happen. Jon's producing is gorgeous and infinitely interesting but rarely commercial. The Kanye West album is an exception.
It would be pretty spectacular if he did for Stevie what he did for Fiona Apple on "When The Pawn" |
