Well I'm disappointed. How come I've never inspired David to write a poem about me?

I have been inspired!

Track a ghost
Wack a ghost
Sharon uses tmesis;

Ghostly double
Toil & trouble
Let's read Nancy's thesis!

(But sometimes the rough draft just doesn't come together.)

Jyqm, Jyqm, Jyqm, Jyqm,
Don't pronounce the "Q"

Say Jyqm's name correctly, please,
Or he will slaughter you.

AMFM's sadly done,
So Jyqm is here to have some fun!

He was sharp & on the ball
And Fleetwood Mac -- he knew it all.

Now he hangs out on this board
Requesting photos of my Nord.

Knowitall from snow to fall
Of Mick and John’s first baby
There’s always facts always corrects
The ones that know just maybe

Eloquent and words baroque
His name is simply David
He throws his rock creating shock
But hit no head just shave it

hayley 12-01-2005 02:32 PM

I want one.

Or a pony!!

From the Lowlands
Gerald raps,
I can't find it
On my maps.

I scratch my head
And start to wonder
If he's shackin' up
Down Under.

"I know where it is!"
Stew chimes,
"The northern
European climes!"

Thank you, Stew!
You're quite a wiz
To know like that
Where Gerald is!

Thanks dude,....isn't it great to write poetry in a foreign language, not restricted by any knowledge of grammar? haha, the grammar used isn't even Dutch.

yours is quite great too, thank you very much.

I hope she doesn't mind me speaking on her behalf... Besides finals coming up, last I heard there was a grief in her family and I believe she's taking some time to deal with that and be with them. :( Sending good thoughts your way, Tiff.

Hmm. That's a tough one, all right. How do you solve a problem like "Maria?"

It's been five or six years and I've yet to get anything other than a picture of a pony. Maybe THIS Christmas !@*(!

Bonus points if you make it Christmas-themed and rhyme Hayley with George Bailey.

I wrote a poem for my friend Courtney on her birthday this year and managed to rhyme every line with her name. It was tough going, but I did it, dammit! It started out something like, "This sunny monday doth exhort me / Write a poem all 'bout Courtney, / And this plan I shan't abort. She / certainly's the pretty sort; she / isn't even slightly portly." And so on and so forth.

Does anybody around ever write "serious" poetry? That could be a great thread, if people were willing to share.

WelshWitchPMD 12-01-2005 07:43 PM

These are really cute, David. You're like a rap star.

A lovely lass
this girl we know.
Her first name is Maria.
The sound of it,
like "buzz" or "pop"
is onomatopoeia!

I emailed with Tiff because I didn't want to say anything without asking her first. Tiff's grandmother died recently and she is dealing with that as well as being extremely busy with her schoolwork. She misses everyone and appreciates that you missed her and will be back posting soon

Pip

I am sorry to hear that, Pip. Send her some "Ledgie love" next time you talk to her.

Well, I must admit it was a pleasant surprise to be tangentially included in your poem!

Back to the topic at hand: I'm glad to hear Tiff will be returning. I thought she might have given up the Ledge for good.

Livia 12-02-2005 04:24 PM

My condolences to you and your family, Tiff! Take your time, we'll still be here when you feel like comin' back. :xoxo:
