Gilmore Girls

OK, where are my GG peeps? Ho****, is it gettin' good! I'm lovin it.

Soooo glad Rory stopped acting like a spoiled beyotch & came to her senses.

Soooo poigniant (I just realized I've no clue how to speel that) when Lorelai told Emily "you didn't lose me"

Soooo pleasantly surprised about Luke's...don't want to spoil it...er, surprise?

Sooo worried that the surprise may put a crimp on future plans for L&L.

SuzeQuze 11-18-2005 02:38 PM

Crap, I was out and I missed it! :distress: I guess it was good that I was out having fun tho! :D But I really wanted to see that one. Dammit.

Season 1 is on my wishlist for Christmas and if no one gets it I will get it for myself. Then I'll probably get sucked into the others too. Why must they be so expensive?

GardenStateGirlie 11-18-2005 02:51 PM

I don't know but I have it out for Amy Sherman Palladino. That was perhaps the most anti-climactic reuinion ever. And Luke? Okay WHO COMES IN TO A RESTAURANT AND DOES THAT? The little girl creeped me out.

skcin 11-18-2005 02:56 PM

^ Yeah, the reunion was a bit dull. But I dig that little girl. So weird.

SuzeQuze 12-27-2005 10:41 PM

The DVDs are $25 at Target! I'm going to at least get Season 2. :D I'm still watching 1 but I really don't think it will take long to get thru it.

I went to Target to get season 4 today--hope they do that with season 5 soon!!

skcin 12-28-2005 09:39 AM

I got 2 & 3 yesterday! I was going to get 4, but I don't have the cash right now. Target does this a few times a year, I'm hoping that by the time I make it through 2 & 3, that 4 will be on sale again. :D

Very nice :) I didn't get 2 yesterday but I'm going to go back for it. I wanted to check Amazon first which is much more $$.

laurarox 12-29-2005 08:28 PM

Is there anyone cooler on the planet than Lorelai Gilmore?
I love everyone on the show - Babbette! Did you see her running down the street holding her boobs to ask Luke if the rumours were true about Lorelai and Rory not speaking?!?!?:blob1:

No. No, there isn't.

I do vividly remember Babbette holding her ta-tas. Too funny.

SuzeQuze 12-30-2005 11:10 AM

I missed that! The more I watch this show the more I love it. It is so good. How about The Dance show from S1? Awesome.

laurarox 12-31-2005 10:23 AM

The Dance? Which one was that? The one where Rory and Dean fell asleep at Miss Patty's after her school dance? OR The one where they had the dance marathon and Lane and Mrs. Kim were serving sandwiches?

She must be talking about Rory's Dance because They Shoot Gilmores was in the third season! I love that episode.

I spent my Christmas vacation at my parent's house watching and finishing my new Season 5 discs. I'd forgotten how much I did like a lot of those episodes from last year.

Yep, I'm talking about the first one called "The Dance". Paris does this monologue about how much Rory would love to tell everyone she couldn't get a real date and Rory says, "I don't have to, you just told them." Zing! The whole dance was perfect so of course it had to get ruined by Rory and Dean falling asleep. That is the way teen life goes!

I am about 2/3 through Season 1 but I was able to get 2 during the Target sale. They had the earlier seasons for $25 and most were gone when I went back to buy! But they still had a couple left of 2, phew. So I don't have to worry about running out of shows for a bit.

skcin 01-03-2006 12:41 PM

Well, I spent a much needed day of laying around & watching TV yesterday. I haven't done that in ages! :o Watched the first 6 eps of GG Season 2.

BTW - seasons 1-4 are now on sale at Best Buy in case you missed that Target sale last week.

skcin 01-12-2006 10:54 AM

I am soooo upset with Luke. WHY didn't he just tell Lorelai? He just found out about the kid, it's not like he's known & kept it a secret or anything. The longer he waits, the worse it's going to be. I dread next week. :distress:

Lorelai's dress is fab, IMO. She had BETTER end up wearing it.

Logan? So hot, but such a dickhead.

jkmaletic 01-12-2006 10:58 AM

I've only tried watching the Gilmore Girls once, so forgive me if I'm being sarcastic, but why does the Mom and the daughter talk....like...this...

They are both really monotone and talk...real...wierd... Or is it just me?

skcin 01-12-2006 11:00 AM

No, it's not you. Mark calls it "the fast talker show."

I love it, it's quick & witty & fun. :)

hayley 01-12-2006 11:01 AM

I seriously hate that they're doing this with Luke & Lorelai. It's so contrived. But I did actually love seeing Luke get all excited and astounded by seeing those pictures of April, and deciding to be a part of her life. I hate the storyline, but Scott Patterson is knocking it out of the park with it. I can't wait to see him try and relate to her.

A WTF thing for me is the casting of Sherilyn Fenn as April's mother. I've loved her since Twin Peaks days, but it still irritates me a little that they're reusing an actress for a completely different part. Sherilyn played Jess's stepmom on that crap episode Here Comes the Son from the third season when Jess went to find his father in California.

I love Lorelai's dress too. I think it's beautiful. I always thought they'd get married at the Dragonfly, it seems like nothing but logical to me.

I HATED Rory's scene crying to the psychologist. It was sooooo bad. The worst fake crying I've ever seen.

Good. I'm glad it wasn't just me then. I'll leave that show to you guys though - it's not my cup of tea. :wavey:

This sounds like a good one to have missed. I was making burritos and talking to someone I met on Yahoo Personals. I heard some of it though. You're right Hayley, that part of the storyline is very contrived just to create drama with Luke and Lorelie. Omigod, that just gave me a flashback to GH!

What was Rory crying about?

Why does the word "burritos" crack me up? I guess I'm easily entertained.
Now GH I DO watch (as dumb as it is sometimes :rolleyes). I love Jason Morgan - he's hot. And Skye Quartermaine - she's hot too.

Oh, Rory had to go & see the Yale shrink in order to go back to school. She was running late, and Logan was waiting for her at her apartment. She told him to leave her alone, thanked him for having his sister break up with her for him, and said goodbye. Then hotterthanhell says "I tried to leave you alone, I didn't want the commitment thing, but I can't help it. I love you."

So she yells at him again & slams the door on him & he leaves. She gets to the shrink & he can barely ask her a question about why she left school - she busts out crying "He loves me? What the hell is that? Huh? Huh?"

I almost forgot - Mrs. Kim doing a shot with Lane? I thought I'd die. :p

skcin 01-23-2006 09:16 AM

I am perturbed. Everything is being ruined. And I hate it. Stupid Luke.

SuzeQuze 01-31-2006 11:43 AM

There is a Stevie connection with this show. Carole King sings the theme song, which she wrote, with her daughter Louise Goffin (who, for those who may not be aware, released her own version of If You Ever Did Believe years ago).

Yes. Leave it to us to figure that out.

New ep tonight - I think there's going to be a blowout with Emily & Richard.

The episode is titled Friday Night's Alright For Fighting. That alone gets me pumped.

I am ready for some serious dramatics between those four. It's going to be awesome.

There's been two Fleetwood Mac references on the show, both from Lane. In one episode, she was debating whether or not to date Zach, and called Rory to get her opinion on the whole band members dating thing, asking her to listen to Rilo Kiley songs, pre- and post- Jenny/Blake breakup, to see if she could tell a difference in quality, and mentioned the Mac in terms of band breakups. And once, the band was talking about their guilty pleasures, and Lane's was Fleetwood Mac.

I am pissed. My Tivo switched to C-SPAN of all things 12 minutes into GG. Words cannot describe how upset I was. I missed the whole friggin episode.

Please, update me people. :(

Here's the recaplet from TWoP:

Lorelai breaks it to Sookie that her wedding to Luke has been postponed. She decides, with Sookie's support, to delay the postponement, just for a while. Things are still not going too well between Luke and Lorelai, mostly because Luke is a big, clueless baby and Lorelai is too passive-aggressive to call him on it and instead just mopes around like this is all out of her control, hating every minute of it. Paris is truly, truly flipping out all over the Yale paper. The staff has had enough and organizes a revolt. Rory pulls the place together, with Logan's help, and they get the paper out. To celebrate, Logan and Rory kiss and stuff and, while I am barfing, get back together. The Grandparents find out about Christopher paying for Rory's tuition, and they are less than thrilled about it. Lorelai tries to convince Rory to reach out to them and try to patch things up. They go to the most outrageous Friday Night Dinner in Gilmore history -- an up and down, exhaustive evening of yelling, with a side of screaming, and a flambé of regret.

I liked the episode- so did they, average grades of A.

Paris went PSYCHOTIC, to the point of just silly unbelievability. It was ridiculous. Watching Rory in charge of the paper was fun- I have no doubt that in the next couple of weeks she will become the editor of the paper in place of Paris.

The dinner fight only started in the last ten minutes, and they just kept cutting forward to whole new arguments. It was great. I was a little distracted, but they fought about Christopher paying for Yale, the way Rory moved out, the DAR, and even brought up Lorelai not marrying Christopher when they were 16. It was actually pretty funny, but I would've liked to see more.

Thanks, Hayley. I am just devastated that I missed this one. I never get upset if I miss a show (any show) but this one, I'm really mad. Oh well, I'll have to watch for the rerun.

The DVDs are great. I'm only on season 2 right now. Its so great watching with no commercials! Both Best Buy and Target recently had some great sales, all of the older seasons were $25 each. I am not sure if anyone has them on sale right now. I love this show so much and can thank Hayley for her endless recommendations of it. Hayley, have they gotten you your check yet? ;)

Ha! I wish. I have definitely converted my share. It's just such a great show. Whenever I'm down, I can pop in any disc, of any season, and just be so immensely cheered up. I love, love that show. I've even gotten my boyfriend into it a little bit, but it wasn't too hard. His favorite show of all time is Northern Exposure, and there's really a lot of similarities between the two- especially in the smart writing and the crazy townies.

And I will NOT be missing tonights ep. no way, no how. Idol is getting Tivo'd, I'm watching GG.

my radio station does a little preview of the "hot" shows coming up each night - this morning they did one for Gilmore Girls while I was in the shower and I thought about y'all...I haven't ever watched the show

It cheered me up this weekend after a bad date. Omigod, the one where Luke pushes his nephew in the lake? I was howling that was so funny!

The current storyline is so lame. Just marry them and then deal with those issues that come up and forget this whole bull**** putting off the wedding thing. It seems out of character for Luke anyway. He's always been crazy about that woman. So whatever.

Oh, my god. I tivo that episode every time it's on ABC Family. The best thing about Tivo is the 8-second instant replay button- it skips back 8 seconds when you hit it, and the timing is perfect for that scene. I hit it and watch that fall into the water about twenty times before I can move on. It makes me howl.

Word. It's ridiculous. I'd kick his ass if I were Lorelai, that's what's bugging me the most. What's so hard about her meeting the kid? Why can't they just make her the goddamned flower girl? I hate it when people have to just "work through" stuff. It's so stupid. There's nothing you can do to actually work through stuff. You just move on and deal with it however you can. /rant
