Did I mention I'm in love with this man?

Joaquin Phoenix. The man is pure perfection - and this fact has been totally cemented in my mind with the following

Joaquin Phoenix Talks Turkey - PETA Television Commercial

Earthlings DVD

That's pretty cool alright.
I want to watch that, but I don't know if I could take it.
He's supposed to be really good in the Johnny Cash biopic that's coming out.

Yeah, the movie opens tom.... today. ****. It's past midnight already. I already bought the soundtrack and have listened to it many many times. OMG is he wonderful.

I ordered the Earthlings DVD... I'm slightly obsessive when it comes to him. :]

If anybody wants to know what I want for Christmas...

It's him. Naked and in my bed.

That's awesome. :woohoo:

I can't wait to see "Walk the Line." It looks really great.

ELIUD 11-18-2005 12:48 PM

Yeah he is a sexy dude. Love that dark hair and that funny lip. That's cool he's a PETA activist, though I don't think I could ever ween myself off animal products. And I can't watch a video that depicts the cruelty they suffer, so perhaps I'm a hypocrite on this issue.

But Joaquin is also a great actor and deserved an Oscar for his part in Gladiator.

He's a great actor, able to do wonders even with little material. I think the next Oscar for the leading actor would go to him or Philip Seymour Hoffman. It's time.

And apparently... he's not shy about embracing his gay fans.

I'm so in love.

Did you hear about his "frog" interview? He was giving an interview for "Walk the Line" and was fiddling with his hair because something was in it, and when the interviewer asked what he was doing, he jokingly said "There's a frog on my head" or something like that. And the interviewer thought he was serious and printed it.

I'm surprised he was joking in an interview. He normally hates doing them and shuns the press whenever possible. He's been known to get up and walk out if he doesn't like the way things are going.

Gorgeous. Talented. Socially and ethically conscious. Moody. :sigh:

Okay... I'm done drooling all over my keyboard now. I think I'll go drool over my tv instead. I'm thinking a little Clay Pigeons is in order. Joaquin Phoenix, Vince Vaughn, and Janeane Garafalo... who could ask for more?

BTFLCHLD 11-18-2005 01:46 PM

i wish his brother were alive to enjoy his success :(

I remember when River died. One of my friends was in love with him, had a giant door poster of him and everything. She was just devastated. :( I can't imagine what it's like when your "idol" passes away and for him, it was WAY too early.

Your poor friend, I would have been devastated if he were my idol. His poor family. I like Joaquin as an actor but I wouldn't pin him up. Just seems a little too angry for my taste.

You haven't??? Go to your nearest Blockbuster or Hollywood Video or whatever and rent it NOW. (Or better yet, buy it!) It's one of my all time favorite movies, and Vince Vaughn is hilarious yet oh so creepy in it.

Amazon.com Editorial Review:

Set in Montana's Big Sky country, shot in Utah, lensed by Eric Alan Edwards (cinematographer of My Own Private Idaho)--no wonder it's hard to tell where Clay Pigeons lives, or where it's going. A Ridley Scott protégé previously at home in commercials and videos, debuting director David Dobkin aims to deliver us into the blackly comedic badlands of neo-noir, territory mined by the likes of Red Rock West and Fargo. Pigeons launches strongly, with several cruel turns of the screw. Out target-shooting, Clay Birdwell (Joaquin Phoenix) is hit with the news that his best pal knows he's been boffing his ur-slut wife (Georgina Cates) and could take Clay out on the spot, but chooses a creepier revenge--committing suicide in order to frame the guy who's cuckolded him. Naturally, Clay covers up the mess, thereby opening the film's can of very nasty worms. A slick, fast-talking cowboy (Vince Vaughn)--the funhouse-mirror-opposite of Phoenix's sweet, slow farmboy--turns up, and a string of ugly murders begins to play out. Once Vaughn's Lester Long is on the scene, spreading his psychotically giggling bonhomie, Dobkin's skin-deep riff on Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train pretty much belongs to him. The rest of the cast looks more or less like clay pigeons set up by a scattershot script: exceptions include the always-estimable Scott Wilson who transforms his caricature-prone Sheriff Mooney into a character of nuanced humanity, and Janeane Garofalo, as an urban-hip FBI agent, whose single-chick sarcasm goes down in flames when Lester unholsters those big guns of come-hither charm. John Lurie of Lounge Lizards fame contributes a distinctive score, but Elvis Presley acts as the film's patron saint in more ways than one: Clay Pigeons' sexiest, scariest wet work is choreographed to "It's Now or Never." --Kathleen Murphy

I love that movie (I *love* Janeane, as evidenced by my avatar). So twisted and funny.

OMFG

I saw "Walk the Line" last night.

He was AMAZING.

If they don't give him the Oscar for this one I'm going to boyc... wait, I've been doing that for years. I don't know what I'll do if he doesn't get it, but I'll come up with something!!!

Me too. I was in sixth grade, I think. What happened to their sisters? I know one is married to Casey Affleck. (Summer, maybe?)

I love it too. A friend of mine actually just had a little argument about that because she doesn't get why I like him.

"But he's got a cleft palette!" says she.

"No... just a little scar now and it's damn sexy." says I.
And then I point out the fact that she thinks Vin Diesel is hot and therefore has no taste in men. :)

wondergirl9847 11-19-2005 10:41 PM

Scars are cool and very sexy. To me it means a person is tough and strong. They endured injury and pain to the body and survived. Every scar tells a story.
