Video: Rhiannon in Blue Jeans

Here is the Rhiannon from CapCenter, MD '75. She is a little more subdued here. Maybe it's the pants!

This concert seems to have been little feedback fest, so watch out for that if you are wearing headphones, and playing it loud. Also, there is a hum/buzz, I didn't try to filter it, but if your player has an EQ, you could play with removing some high freq. you might lose some good stuff too, though.

Look for some nutty cuts between Lindsey and Mick during the solo-:distress: zip zip zip , don't get whiplash!

Bob Welch told me that back then, band's didn't really have "professional monitor guys". That it was usually just a roadie, who knew a little about sound, thus explaining why there's sooo much feedback on most of these old recordings.

I actually don't mind it, it is like seeing octagons from the sunlight in the lens, in an old 70's film: it is sort of refressing and real.

I have a friend who is a sound person for stadium shows right now, and he just got promoted to monitor dude. $$

Wow thanks so much for posting that. I had never seen that video in it's entirety...she is so incredibly hot there, it's indescribable really.. I think that may have to be the best Rhiannon performance ever--everything all together, that is STEVIE NICKS at her 100% complete prime for sure

Chris

JazmenFlowers 11-15-2005 04:59 PM

god how I love this video. stevie was in top form. I'd kill for some other videos of rhiannon from the 70's.

The ones I know of with both picture & sound are:

1. Rosebud
2. Midnight Special
3. Capitol '75
4. Philly '77
5. Capitol '78
6. Tokyo '77
7. Capitol '79
8. Tusk rehearsals '79

plus bits & pieces of "Rhiannon" in all those docs like "Going Home" & private footage like Days on the Green '76 & '77 -- nearly all of this stuff without sound -- & some snippets with sound like news footage of US Festival, PM Magazine, etc.

Chris, I appreciate your sentiment about "best ever," but considering that there are only about eight Rhiannons from the 1970s floating around, I think the judgment is premature. We're missing literally hundreds of Rhiannons.

DavidMn 11-15-2005 05:37 PM

That was very enjoyable to watch! Thank you:nod:

Ah, Rosebud.... really, I hold that performance of Rhiannon in high regards, since it was the first video I ever saw for the Mac. I was hooked instantly. I just thought it was one of the coolest things.

Thanks a lot for this! I've had the audio of this clip for years but had no idea video existed for it. Very nice surprise!

Good God, Stevie in pants and showing midriff. Unheard of. Great performance, though the editing in the solo gave me vertigo. That editor should be slapped. Interesting to see Stevie so early on and getting her legs. She seems a bit uncomfortable - like she doesn't quite want to break loose and it is noteworthy that her eyes are closed much of the time. Thanks for posting this ! :wavey:

MirrorInTheSky 11-16-2005 02:51 AM

Oh my f'n God!! That is the best Rhiannon ever! Thank you soooooo much. :D

The Chain 11-17-2005 05:58 PM

Does anyone have the audio of this show, that they could send to me, or know of anywhere I could download it from? It's an awsome version. I love the solo. Perfection.

danax6 11-17-2005 06:19 PM

Does anyone else get those green dots (in a vertical line) in the middle of the screen when they play the file? It was also on the Japan Rhiannon clip.

This leads to the question, When did Stevie switch over from her jeans to her black chiffon co-designed by Margi?

It took place at some point along the 1975 tours. She wasn't in black chiffon at the Landover show in early October, but she was in black chiffon for the Thanksgiving week shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco & San Jose.

Probably when the real money started rolling in.

Come on, spark, be serious. When did this occur exactly? It's a momentous moment in Stevie history & lore. We should be able to pin it down. The archivist in you cares.

How much would we have to bribe you, David, to wrap your text a little shorter? You've got a 19" monitor, don't you?
I have to scroll side to side, to read all of your words.:distress:

I think it's actually due to the width of his sig pic, not a problem with wrapping his text. But I've been enjoying all of the pics he's been posting lately, so I've been happily scrolling over.

I am not hip enough to know when. There is no way I have enough photos or other things to pinpoint a date. What I would love to do is call that Margi Kent up and ask her ass about it.

Wait a damn second. You mean my posts are making people scroll all over the place? THAT is a NO-NO in my book. I didn't know I was doing that. Yes I have a 19-incher ... is that the problem? What do I do? Stick in a manual return every tenth word or so?

What's it doing now?

What the phuck isn't listed in those liner notes? I think those liner notes have four chapters of War and Peace and the complete first testament, amongst other ridiculous things.

I don't know what the hell Windows Movie Maker is, but I have the old file in Windows Media format at 17.7 MB, if you want that. (It's the one with the counter at the bottom.)

Sorry, none of my applications seem to be able to convert this to Windows media. I wonder if Windows media will play a different mpeg compression - this one was Mpeg4.
